Rios gone to! Sweet.
Rex, who would you rather have, Everett or Gload?

Deal for Carl to be announced after Rangers game
Anybody know how long his contract goes?
-
Cotts Gone?...
Everett looks like he weighs 240.
-
Jimenez part of Everett Deal
Gammons specifically said three prospects. That word should not include Jiminez.

Jimenez part of Everett Deal
Trust me, Molto, Jiminez won't be missed.

Player Cuts, part II
Now we have to lop two players off the roster. Our 40 man roster should be OK, since Almonte was on it and we had one spot open.

Everett Official!
Let's just pretend that we want to trade Cotts and whoever these other two prospects are, and we go to every other team in the majors, don't you think that we could get more than Carl Everett for them? I remember all those incidents with Manager Jimy Williams in Boston. The guy was a jerk. This makes the earlier trade look good.

Twinkies @ Sox Thread
Is there going to be another Glover sighting?
-
Cubs
I hate to disappoint you guys and gals from Chicago, but the Cubs lost 4-3 in the ninth when 6 fingered Mordeci Alfonseca gave up a two out single with the bags loaded with Phils.

Do You like the trade?
But, Alomar will be replacing Harris at second, not Jiminez, who was probably relegated to the bench before the trade.

Chicago's Bruce Levine - Has Inside Information
Gloud would be an upgrade over both Daubach and Rios, and he would not cost anything.
-
Gammons, again
Now he says that the Sox pay $150 K of Robbie's salary. He also said that the AL Central has worse pitching than the NL East, so his average should go up with the Sox. Yawn.

Gammons is reporting
I expect it to be Singleton. Be careful, Kenny.

Interesting Trade Idea..
Anthony, you must be very young.

Very important
Dick, I'll give you that point, but the likelihood of the Sox getting future draft choices, as others have suggested, is nil. Part of what urinates me on this trade, aside from losing Ring, is the fact that both Rowand and Harris have stepped it up in the last ten days, and this is when we started playing better ball and winning. Jiminez looks as if he has finally put himself in the manager's doghouse, so he would not have been cutting into Harris' playing time at second. I thought we were primed to go on a streak. Now everything is up in the air. If we make the trade when we are struggling, that is one thing. But we made it when we are playing our best ball of the year. But if Robbie plays well and sparks the team, and we continue winning, I'll order a plate of crow. I will be pulling for him, I guarantee you all.

Excitement?
This will dispense with any white flag talk.

Guys
I believe the term "designated for assignment" applies when you wish to send down a player who is out of options or has five years of service. IOW you can't just send him down to the minors. You make him available to the rest of the two leagues. Jiminez is different. We can send him down to Charlotte, no questions asked, unless he is out of options, which I do not think is the case.

Okay, I get it, we should trade Ring because he might get hit in the face with a line drive. Almonte, yes; Ring, no.

Excitement?
Which is a great time to start f***ing with the roster.

Valentine/Ring
Cerb, there is no doubt that Valentine's ERA is a little high. But hits per inning and strikeouts per inning both indicate that he has pretty good stuff. He may or may not make the Oakland staff next year, I just don't know, but he wil be good enough to make some team's staff. That said, Royce is too good to give up for a three month player who the Mets wanted to get rid of. Other posters can laud KW all you want for being "aggressive," and you can claim that closers are overrated, but every team needs relievers, and Ring will be a good one. Meanwhile Alomar will get playing time at second for 1-3 months, and Harris/Rowand will sit, and we'll see what happens. Ten days ago the Rangers tried to trade Juan Gone for two low level prospects, no one close to Ring's potential. Now KW comes along, falling off the turnip truck again, giving up last year's number 1 pick. And Juan Gone can still hit.

Very important
It does, but the Sox could not possibly offer him arbitration. They would lose and have to pay him 8-10 Million or whatever next year. He is a rent a player for 3 months, and the cost is Royce Ring, who is a shoe in to make the majors. The whole deal is insane.
-
Valentine/Ring
I guess it doesn't pay to be a relief pitcher in the Sox system and pitch well. First Joe Valentine, then Royce Ring. Valentine can be explained because we thought Koch was better than he is, plus we got Cotts. Royce Ring is another story. They are happy in Metville, I'm sure.
-
Very important
Wrong, guys. We will not get any draft picks unless we first offer Alomar arbitration, which would be dumber than the trade itself. Then Alomar would have to refuse arbitration and opt for free agency.

Who Gets Cut?
Has anybody heard? My guess is Jiminez will go down to AAA, thereby taking innings away from Miles, who is only hitting .320 or so.
