QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) I think you are way biased, I mean everyone is but Murray probably should have won that game vs Djokovic he just ran out of steam... if anything that 3rd set he had more mistakes that would have lead to a much easier set win if he completed them. I will say Djokovic messed up the 4th set and probably should have won but at same time I think Nadal gifted it right back to him the 5th set in which he should have taken. Obviously end of the day all that matters is winning, but my statement was more about last year Djokovic just looked unstoppable to the point only person who stood a remote chance was Federer vs him. This open I was happy to see Nadal/Murray up their game and make it some enjoyable tennis to watch instead of a steamroll. Which is important because obviously both those matches could have easily gone the other way. I'm not denying it, I obviously have a biased opinion, but I also think Djokovic can get away with not playing his best easier than other players because of his defensive abilities. He's got the intangibles now. You must have watched a different semi than I did because Nole playing his average game wins that match in 3 sets. Had tons and tons opportunities to put Murray away and couldn't. Dominated the first set, then had break point up 2-0 in the 2nd and then lost his edge, where Murray stepped his game up. I may be biased for Nole, but you might be just as biased against him.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 10:43 AM) I think Nadal lost it on the game after he broke Djokovic. He had that easy winner and if he won that game could of been the nail in the coffin. The one thing it showed though is Djokovic isn't going to run over guys this year though... Murray/Nadal both had solid chances of winning. I don't think it matters one bit if he runs over guys or not, the W is all that matters in the end. I choose to look at it the other way. No matter how tough it looks, he finds a way to win. 11 hours on the court against Nadal and Murray in the last 2 matches following a tough 3-set match against Ferrer and he STILL won. When he collapsed at the end of that point early in the 5th I thought it was over. He found a way to make it happen. Hit shots even without his legs underneath him. Biggest thing was that his serve was able to pull him through. The same mental block Fed has against Nadal absolutely is there for Nadal vs Nole. He hits that passing shot in the open court 999/1000 times otherwise. The doubt constantly creeps in for him. He might cheer and fist pump and all that but he's doing it forcefully to try to get himself pumped up. I don't think you can say one way or another what happens the rest of the year. Sure, Murray and Nadal both had solid chances of winning, but Nole also missed COUNTLESS break opportunities in both matches. Murray should have been put away in 3 and Nadal should have been put away down 4-3 and 0-40 on his own serve in the 4th set. Can't really doubt what he's done though. He earned his 5th Grand Slam and is the best player in the world right now. No question about it.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 02:58 AM) I disagree w/ everything in this post. I thought his Superman thing was hilarious and very cool. And him saying "wait and see" actually brought out a lot of excitement in my non-hockey friends who were watching. They were all saying "I wonder what it's going to be! I'm pumped now". And I think NHL now has the best All-star events. The draft is a very cool way to make teams, the skills competition is great and rivals the HR Derby for me, and all-star games across all sports are pretty lame, but at least it's not like the NFL's where no one does it. Ya, the NHL is doing it really well. The NFL has by far the worst of the all star festivities. The NBA's ASG is normally extremely entertaining but the dunk contest has become an absolute joke and there is no fan interaction. MLB's voting is a joke, the game is "meaningful" for no reason, and the HR derby is very hit and miss. NHL has the draft, with great access to the players through social media, and the skills competitions are actually fun to watch.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 02:45 AM) Unless you are the Packers, Saints or Patriots Peyton Manning represents a massive upgrade. Instant playoff team, instant Super Bowl contender and if Peyton stays healthy and SF's defense is this good next year they are borderline locks to win it all. We saw this year how putrid that Colts roster is, that is what Manning has been taking to the playoffs for a decade now. Wait, are you saying any team that acquired Manning is an instant playoff team and SB contender? -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 28, 2012 -> 11:46 PM) I got it now, but I don't listen to Ice Cube, nor was I familiar w/ his songs, so it took me until I clicked the link to realize those were song lyrics he was referencing. Still don't get the one about the weather on that day though. He didn't include a lyric that mentioned it. Was it just in the video or something? It's like the 3rd line of the song. "No barking from the dog, no smog"

I'm just glad this GM search is over and now we can move on to improving this football team. If Ruskell is indeed let go, then that's even better news. I'm excited as ever for the draft now, especially after all the praise Emery has gotten as a talent evaluator. Hopefully it improves our chances of getting Dwayne Bowe also. I've seen some murmurs here and there that they could go after Jermichael Finley too. And there's obviously the Brandon Marshall possibility. There are 3 glaring needs for the Bears IMO. WR, CB, OL and in that order. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the first round at 19. Luckily, there's 4 WR who are likely 1st rounders and 3-5 CB as well. You'd have to think one of Alshon Jeffery/Michael Floyd/Kendall Wright would be there, or possibly Dre Kilpatrick. I wouldn't mind using a 1st on a LB either if it was a Bama guy, or even Vontaze Burfict. -
Had Fat Tire for the first time last night. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Also got a VIP bottle of Woodford Reserve Bourbon for Christmas. My goodness was that delicious.

Serbia went 3 for 3 in semifinals today. Djokovic beat Murray, our water polo team beat Italy and our handball team beat Croatia. WOOHOO!

18 breaks in that match. Such a roller coaster. Both were up and down in the 1st set and Nole took it 6-3. Then Nole gets the early break, goes up 2-0 in the 2nd and then has break point to make it 3-0 and blows it. Murray gets it going and takes the 2nd set 6-3. Then the 3rd set was a break-fest and you're thinking "whoever wins the tiebreaker wins the match." Murray wins the tiebreaker and then all of the sudden Djokovic takes the 4th set 6-1 in 25 minutes! Murray rolled over like a dog in that set. Nole has all the momentum, gets a break in the 5th set, gets up 5-3 and can serve to take the match, and then he gets broken! Murray comes back to 5-5, Djokovic holds to make it 6-5 and then breaks him to win the match.
-
Holy. s***. 5 hour epic. Can't believe Djokovic pulled through after how many opportunities he let slip through his fingers. And then for Murray to come back from 5-2 down in that 5th set? Unbelievable. One of the best matches I have ever watched.

Go time. Djokovic/Murray.

Definitely going to do Parks & Rec. I love Aziz Ansari and I've seen a couple episodes here and there. Very funny. Then I guess it's between Breaking Bad and Justified. And ya, Steve, you watch way too much TV.

Shameless Justified Alcatraz Southland Parks & Rec Breaking Bad Touch Mad Men I'm looking for a new show to keep me occupied now that I'm all done with Dexter. What should I go with?

What are some good post-workout meals? I drink a protein shake after each workout, so that isn't a huge factor.

Then a couple points later he hit a 2 handed backhand down the line and everyone lost it.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 26, 2012 -> 07:37 AM) Nadal back in the finals, that was a pretty awesome match. The last game was a little sloppy on both sides but some awesome shots throughout. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 02:38 AM) This match will be telling for Djokovic, if he makes easy work of Ferrer I think the only one who has a shot vs him in the Aussie Open will be Federer. Got him in 3 sets, but it certainly wasn't easy. Those first 2 sets were absolutely grueling but Djokovic crushed him in that 3rd set. Ferrer is such a pain in the ass. Hopefully Djokovic's hamstring is ok. He'll have to be 100% for Murray.

Federer, Nadal, Murray into the semis. Djokovic/Ferrer coming up in 2 hours.
