QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) So you guys all love Aaron Rodgers? QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) I'm not saying he's the best ever or anywhere close. I was mostly just giving Bear fans a hard time. STOP. That is the only warning you're going to get. -
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 11, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) I have two friends (married to each other) who have a son and daughter. They refuse to vaccinate their kids because they are convinced it causes autism. Well, they just found out Friday that their son most likely has autism (or is at a high risk of developing it). Autism is no laughing matter, but they are now scrambling to find a "cause". It must be the milk... or the gluten. Maybe he needs more vitamins. Am I a dick for finding this even a little funny? I enjoy the irony. Umm, yes.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 9, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) I graduate college tomorrow. I won't live past tomorrow night. Hell, I may not survive tonight. Yikes.

Bears are 10-3 right now with a healthy Cutler. Unbelievable how much of a 180 this season has done in a few weeks. -

Peppers, Idonije and Melton were held on a ridiculous number of plays with no calls. I was mentioning this all game long. And a lot of them were just blatant. It's as if the refs were too busy gawking at Tebow to realize it. -

I'd call Yu Darvish and tell him he can name his contract.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 01:18 PM) I'm sure in the last few years there are a lot of people that had that same thought once before but ended up having to go back to school. I'm a broadcasting major. You couldn't PAY ME to go back to school.

So the assignment I did identified Chicago, Seattle and Denver as my top 3. In place of Chicago, since I'm from there, would be either Anchorage, Portland, Austin or Nashville.

Sad day for the White Sox, but no way they should have paid him that much. I'll always wish Burls the best. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) How is the food there? I have it in my head that they'd have incredible food. And I don't get the lichrally thing, if that's a joke or something Haha, it's just the way I say and type literally. Can't remember where I got it from, been a while. Anywho, the food is great there, especially if you love fresh seafood (obviously). They have an incredible variety of native american inspired dishes all over the place too. I guess one of the problems in general is that a lot of groceries are a bit more expensive because of importing costs, but there's also no tax.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) I've now seen Anchorage mentioned a couple of times. Don't get me wrong, as I have always wanted to visit Alaska, but is Anchorage a booming town or something? I think it's kind of a "best of both worlds" type thing in that it's actually a real city but it's in freakin' Alaska. You LICHRALLY only have to drive 5 minutes to see the pristine parts of Alaska. Alaska is absolutely a must-see for everyone. I'll never forget my week there and I plan on going back very soon.

I'm about to start working on my last ever homework assignment. It's bittersweet. I graduate college this Saturday.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:42 AM) Honestly, it only missed my list due to it's lack of professional sports teams save NBA. I've been there twice, and it is amazing. Well, I'm assuming if I was to work in Portland, I'd cover the Blazers and Oregon/Oregon State sports.
-
Anyone care to share what's so awesome about Portland?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) Chicago and New York since I've been about 14 have been the only 2 cities I've ever wanted to live in. As I'm getting older, I'm starting to absolutely despise cold weather but I still can not see myself ever living outside those two areas. It's kind of odd, being born and raised in Chicago, but I absolutely despise the "city-life" and could never really live downtown in a big city. I have to be near the outdoors so I can fish and/or hunt. Chicago I could probably put up with because it's what I know, but there's not a chance in hell I could go to New York City or Los Angeles or Houston.
-
So for my capstone class, I have to identify 10 cities outside of Grand Rapids that I could see myself having a career in and ultimately settling down in. Now, obviously Chicago would be at the top of the list. But I could also see myself settling in Denver, Milwaukee or Anchorage. Those are all cities I'm familiar with and really liked while visiting. What cities would fall on your list?

QUOTE (spiderman @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 02:06 PM) Chicago Tribune Scouting Report This report is less than flattering - basically says the Sox over overrating this guy because the guy they got from Toronto likes him, and that he projects as a back of the rotation starter. Everyone has different opinions. One report said a good #2 starter. The other said a good #3. Keith Law says he's a reliever. This says he's a back of the rotation guy. Let's give the kid a chance.

QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) And everything you said here is NOT AN ARGUMENT to discount the main argument most of 'the stupid fans have' that this was a less than fair haul for Santos. Ok so he was 3.55 era and blew 6 saves...but at least he was pitching in the majors. And he's freaking cheap as heck... NO ONE has said the pitcher we got sucks. NO ONE (that I read)...the complaint is fair value wasn't met. Kenny couldn't have gotten more? We got a 22 year old who has all of 24 innings above the A ball level, a converted infielder for goodness sakes...there is a risk in going after this guy, a risk that would have necessitated a credible argument to maybe have another prospect (albeit lower ranked) added into the mix. We gave up THREE prospects (including 2 elite) for a mediocre outfielder (swisher). It's amazing Kenny being so willing to dump prospects by the bucketload is so easy to dupe on the other side. Try out his trade for Jackson...Hudson for Jackson seemed to be a MORE THAN fair deal, but freaking Kenny adds in another prospect (Holmberg) albeit a lower prospect. Funny you should mention that he's a converted infielder.......

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) You feel sorry for KW, he created this FN mess. He also created a World Champion. His intentions were ALWAYS in the right place.
-
I am amazed (but not really) at the stupidity of this fan base. We have an inability to think logically about something. Instead, we overreact with the first thought that comes to our head. What's the LAST thing a rebuilding team needs? A closer. What's the first thing a rebuilding team needs? Pitching prospects. I feel sorry for KW because it is impossible to win with these fans. He guys and buys, and we b**** about not having a system. He sells and builds the system, and we b**** about moving our MLB pieces. PICK ONE!
-
Sounds like KW has a list of prospects from around the league that he really likes, and it basing his trade negotiations off that list. It almost seems like he's calling teams saying "How can I get Prospect X? Anything is on the table."
-
Blow. It. Up.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 01:08 PM) With 22 innings in AA? That's kind of rushing him, don't you think? Perhaps. But look at how quickly guys with incredible control rise up (Daniel Hudson, Addison Reed)...

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 01:06 PM) I love the sounds of this. The more I think about it, though, the more I want to keep Floyd/Danks, let Buehrle and Peavy walk. Danks/Floyd/Sale/Stewart/Molina could be pretty darn good. And overall, young.
