    2011 Films Thread

The Adjustment Bureu was one of the most thought provoking movies I have ever seen. I am so immersed in my thoughts right now that I can't sleep. Just wow.
  2. I soured a lot on Ozzie the last couple seasons, just like most others, but I've been one of his backers since he was hired. I'll always remember him more for the good times rather than the bad times. October 26, 2005. That doesn't happen if Ozzie isn't the manager. For that day, for that season, I will always be thankful. I hope he can get his s*** together in Florida.
  3. That's a leaked logo found on the internet. Could it be their actual logo? Sure. But they won't officially unveil anything until November 11th when they officially become the Miami Marlins.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) My point is ... there will be no rants in Florida. He's passionate about the White Sox because he loves the White Sox and grew up a Sox player. He was the face of the franchise the last several years and bleeds White Sox black. There's no reason for him to go off in Florida. He'll be liked by the media but nobody gives a f*** about baseball down there. We won't hear anything from Ozzie Guillen down there. If they win it all, we'll see him in the postseason, but he ain't going to be going off about anything down there. Baseball is dead in Florida. Unless of course the new stadium means sellouts every night and baseball frenzy. I don't think anybody expects that. You clearly have no grasp of Ozzie Guillen. It has nothing to do with the market he's in or whether the people there like baseball or not. He's attached to the Marlins. Not as much as he's attached to the Sox obviously, but still. If he cares AT ALL, he'll go off on a number of rants, whether it be at the players, fans or media. If he DOESN'T, then he doesn't give a s*** and simply wants a paycheck. I think he's a bit more competitive than that. Oh, and he was liked by the media in Chicago up until the last couple years. And for the most part, they still liked him outside of a few exceptions, but that has more to do with those media members than it does Ozzie.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 11:52 PM) 1.) He should hold out for 4 years. I still wouldn't be surprised if it's four year deal. Three years ain't bad, though. 2.) Give me a break. He will manage there a long, long time IMO. Great part of the country; he likes NL ball; team gets very little media attention so no need for him to be stressed. 3.) How do u know? It's not official yet. At least give me credit if it's announced 4 years like u are calling me out prematurely. First off, what's the big difference between 3 and 4 years? Why the heck would he hold out to get 1 more year? Second, you are obviously ignorant to the front office in Florida. Loria and Samson are very touchy about a lot of things. They send Logan Morrison down because he was too real on Twitter. How the hell are they going to react when Ozzie goes off on one of his rants? It's not going to be pretty. And again, the length of the deal really means nothing. If he does well in his first 2 years, he'll get an extension anyway. Put me in the group that says he won't make it through whatever deal he signs.
  6. Various reports out there in regards to what may happen. Some are saying that he chose to resign after his meeting with Reinsdorf and there will be nothing more to is. Other reports say that the Marlins/Sox have been working on a trade for quite some time.
  7. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 04:57 AM) show me where I'm not being objective don't just post this nancy bulls***, man up, point s*** out. Christ....
  8. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 12:18 AM) Ortiz was punished by getting a f***ing point taken away? LOL Ortiz started this WHOLE thing. Plain and simple. Why do you think he was laughing after the fight was over? He knew what he did caused this whole thing to unfold! Are you kidding me with this s*** man? You're so blind to blatantly IGNORE what Ortiz did and completely put all the blame on Floyd? You have GOT to be kidding me! "He got a point taken away!" SMH You can't be serious. This isn't a street fight, it's a professional boxing match. BY RULE, he attempted to headbutt him and the fight was paused and Ortiz lost a point. That is the proper punishment. Headbutting someone doesn't mean you get 2 free cheap shots. No one is ignoring the fact that Ortiz started it with the headbutt, but if you're going to beat someone, wait until they're ready to fight. There is no way you can say that Mayweather won a fair fight. He didn't. It was a b**** move. He knows it. Ortiz knows it. Everyone that watched knows it.
  9. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 02:56 AM) Manny has to take the test, Floyd isn't budging on that and honestly he shouldn't. Shane Mosley beat NSAC standard uring testing, and Victor Conte calls current testing standards "An IQ test, easy to beat." Take the test Manny and become #43 ! I hope you know how incredibly idiotic you're making yourself look in this thread tonight. I came into this fight as a Mayweather fan but that's long gone. It was a b**** move. Say what you want about the headbutt, but it was out of adrenaline/frustration. That was the cheapest "knockout" I've ever seen. I compare it to 2 guys at a bar talking s***, then all of the sudden somebody's boy comes out of left field and sucker punches him. Unless its Maywweather/Ortiz 2 or Mayweather/Pacquiao, I'll never be watching Floyd fight again. And watching it in his home town of Grand Rapids, MI made it all the more unbearable for me. And his post-fight interview was unbelievable. If you're willingly calling yourself a Mayweather fan and lauding him after this fight, you need your head examined. 42-0 means absolutley nothing now too. Right now, his legacy is 2 cheap shots, being afraid of Pacquiao and going after an 80 year old ring reporter. Keep it classy bro. He's the perfect example of the worst case scenario of money. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-J7JoqN74ho Awful.
  10. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) Nadal needs to work on his game to counter djokivic this offseason, lost to him 6 times this year I think. Oh well good job djokivic, this was your year. Is it really that hard to spell his name?
  11. His 10 wins vs top-20 opponents is 2nd most all time and 10 of them were against Nadal (6) and Federer (4).
  12. TOOOOOOOOOOO LUTKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Nole has more Grand Slams than losses in 2011.
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 11, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) Yeah she's out of control. I wish they could have called that a let. It's a bad rule to give up a point on that without a warning. Pretty sure it happened to Bartoli recently as well.
  14. I can't believe what Serena Williams just did. Now THAT is a hissy fit.
  15. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) Well I guess when you were as good as he was in his prime it gets to your head? Djokivich is a great player though and that return on first match point was sick. I've always been a nadal fan though, he is so much fun to watch with his never give up play style. Andy Murray in a couple years might become number 1 player, feel bad for him only one of the elite 4 without a major win.... And yes he does deserved to be grouped with the other 3. In a lot of ways, Murray and Djokovic are similar, but if Murray wants to be #1, he'll have to overcome the same problem Djokovic did: himself. Murray, moreso than Djokovic ever was even, is a mental midget. He always pouts on the court. He always yells at his box. He'll be up 5-1 in a set and slam his racket on the ground as if he was down 5-1. He loses confidence in himself so quickly. He's a similar defensive player as Djokovic, but he has a better serve (thought not quite the athlete/returner Djokovic is). The other big thing was that Djokovic was able to break through and get that 1st grand slam in Australia in 08 at the age of 21 or 22. Murray is already 24 and hasn't been able to get through Djokovic/Nadal/Federer. And for cereal, Djokovic isn't that hard to spell. QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) I don't watch a whole lot of Tennis, I usually just get wrapped up in the Quarter/Semi's of the Majors, but that Federer/Djokovic match was the best one I've ever watched. Also, in watching the Wozniacki/Williams match, three things: 1. I really do not like either of the Williams sisters. Or their father. 2. How is Wozniacki #1?? The few times I've seen her she just loses. 3. And maybe this is just me, but I find Men's Tennis FAR superior. 1. Agreed 10000% 2. She's remarkably consistent. And the answer to #3 has a lot to do with why #2 is true as well. There isn't a legitimate top tier in women's tennis like there is with the top 4 in men's tennis, though it seems that there will be soon since Serena is healthy. There have been a lot of different number 1's in the last few years and that's simply the way it will be for a while.
  16. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 10, 2011 -> 09:18 PM) Lol he just lost a match he was up 2-0, how can you expect him to not be annoyed and a little bothered by stupid questions. If anything djokivich looked like he was throwing a hissy fit because fans were rooting for federer. I wouldn't call it a hissy fit, but the fans at Ashe are always obnoxious and seem to disregard any tennis etiquette. Doesn't help when Roger is playing quick and serving as the crowd is still cheering on the last point. When he saved the 1st match point with that epic return, the crowd was in Djokovic's pocket. It was nuts. And ya, if you've seen any of Federer's interviews after his latest losses, the guy is just a huge asshole. He will NEVER acknowledge when someone outright beats him and he always says the same thing. "My serve was on. My forehand felt good. My backhand was great. I thought I returned the ball better than ever." GTFOH.
  17. Federer was awfully salty in his post-match press conference. It almost sounded like he was pissed Novak didn't sit down and take the loss with 2 match points. He's a POS. This is my favorite: "Maybe you've already won so much that it evens it out a bit sometimes. I don't know." Stay classy Fed.
  18. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Nole Majstore!
  19. Was able to make some trades and now my team is absolutely stacked. 12 team league, standard scoring QB Vick RB Rice RB MJD WR/RB Hester WR VJax WR Bowe TE Gates D/ST Packers K Janikowski Bench: Cards D/ST, Lance Moore, Ronnie Brown, LaRod Stephens-Howling, Fred Jackson, Mike Thomas, Darren Sproles, Rashad Jennings Sproles, Hester, and LSH are more intriguing because we also get a point for every 25 kick and punt return yards.

  21. Fall 2011 This is my last semester of college and it's a joke. Classes only Tue/Thu. Baseball Coaching Theory Team Sports Golf II Broadcast News II Capstone Yeah.
  22. I actually like your team quite a bit. Obviously very strong RB with some potential at WR, but it works out ok since you have the elite pass catching TE in the league. If that team stays healthy, you should be looking pretty. Here's what I just drafted earlier today. H2H, standard points: QB Mike Vick RB Michael Turner RB Shonn Green RB/WR Tim Hightower WR Dwayne Bowe WR Anquan Boldin TE Antonio Gates D/ST Packers K Vinatieri Bench includes Lance Moore, Ronnie Brown, Darren Sproles, Danny Amendola, Rashad Jennings, Larod Stephens-Howling and Kevin Kolb. I was very happy with the draft.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) If he can't catch at least 1 of those 2 balls last night, then he will not be a welcomed addition. That is 100% why he is needed...to be the big body that helps the Bears move the chains. One stat that was given last night was that the Bears led the league in 3 and outs last year. That happened because the Bears WR's couldn't move the chains on 3rd downs when people knew that a quick throw was coming. The 1st one was a bad drop, but the 2nd one was a catch that only a handful of receivers in the NFL make. He was falling down with a defender on his back and the ball was just at his fingertips.
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) Sorry, a guy anointed our #1 WR needs to catch most balls that hit his hands. He's going to make some catches that will be top play on SportsCenter, but he's also going to drop some that make you say WTF. Roy Williams is who we thought he was. By the end of the season, I think most will see him as a welcomed addition.
