  1. Cool. Another movie my wife will absolutely refuse to go see with me.
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) If you're making minimum payments on your credit card, you have no business owning one. Living by that credo is a lot easier said than done, though. My family lives quite modestly and we still rack up debt. My fault, I assume, for living in a business and high tech corridor and only pulling down the wages of an academician.
  3. You've got that absolutely right, Kap. When I heard about this the other day I immediately thought thought tthat this out of nowhere doubling of the minimum combined with the tougher restrictions on bankruptcy filings (unless you're a corporation, of course... ) would put a serious pinch on a whole lot of people. I'm esure the rest of the credit card companies are right be hihind the big 3 on this moove as well, so all of us who keep a balance on our crads are going to be screwed. Middle class America just keeps taking it up the ass.
  4. Texsox has pet gerbils, but they smell kinda funny.
  5. Hell! I just get home and turn on the Extra Innings just in time for the rain delay.

  7. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) They handed out rally socks opening day too... here's the one i got. they should do it weekly. I thought they were penis warmers...

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) And how about "Convoy". That song just IS a disaster.
  9. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) what fun would it be for GW to nominate Hillary R Clinton????? That would be one way to keep her out of the 2008 race I guess.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) Listen to the Rythem of the Falling Rain ... (I forgot who did this one) Tha Cascades first I think, and, later, Gary Lewis and the Playboys.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) Gotcha...yeah, that one was pretty close. Did you ever rumble with Koinonia? No, but I think we beat them in flag football.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) What dorm was that close to Foellinger? The only one I can think of is ISR and that's all the way across the quad. Just curious. Still cool though. Newman Hall, Baby. Yes, I lived at the Catholic dorm. And no, I did not burst into flames every time I entered.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) Do you always attend concerts with your guitar? Kind of like taking a glove to a baseball game? You never know when you will catch a cord? Yeah, I figured I'd show Stevie ray a thing or two... My dorm was literally right across the street from the Auditorium. When the house lights came up at the end of the show i ran back to my room to grab my guitar.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) How did you meet him? He played a concert at UofI Follenger (sp?) Auditorium. I literally had just finished taking a mid-term exam in that very auditorium like an hour before the concert. Some friends (well, former friends, seeing as the lead singer shagged my girlfriend shortly after this time) of mine were the opening band, so I had an in to meet Stevie after the show. It was right after he had done the rehab thing, and he was absolutely the nicest guy you could ever meet.

Tex, did I ever tell you I own a Fender Telecaster that I got autographed by Stevie Ray in '87?? I know it should be a Strat, but I only owned the Tele at the time.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:55 AM) I think the obvious choice here is Joan Baez's Blowin in the Wind. No knock on Joan, but it's DYLAN'S Blowin in the Wind, please.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) BTW, can you send a little bit of rain up this way to Austin. Austin's drout is karma, no doubt, as a result of the Beer Gods still being pissed at the closure of the Celis Brewery. That was maybe the best micro in the country.
  20. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) I took in this stray kitten, and I was going to give her away. But she's kind of growing on me (aside from the clawings during medicine time). Ah, very cute. Want any more? We have five [5! (cinco!!)] of them, which I'm realizing is about five too many. We started out as the suckers that would take in any stray that found us. Now I think we are the crazy cat people on the block.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) thank you Jim De nada, Tex. Nothing like a song virus stuck in your brain to make natural disasters a little more fun.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Hey - all kidding aside - keep checking in here as much as you can. We all want to know that you're safe. Of course, that will be kinda hard to do without power. This would be kinda like Flaxx last year. Now you see what goes around, comes around, hehe. I like to share the fun Keep safe, Tex.
  24. FlaSoxxJim replied to Texsox's topic in SLaM
Ah, the worm has turned, and now Tex is staring down the barrel. Stay safe, Tex. Here's hoping Emily misses you... not that I'm wishing ill on your neighbors to the south. Just curious Tex, do you have the theme from the old Bob Newhart Show running through your head yet? [/joke grenade]
  25. Helplessly Hoping Love isn't lying - it's loose in a lady who lingers, saying she is lost. And choking... On hello. The whole song just has the greatest alliteration in it... damn. That is the one CSNY song I always insist on playing out if the guys I'm with can hold down the parts. By dafault (ie, because I can hit the high notes), I've always been stuck with Graham's line (not that I'm complaining). But lately it's just been a duo thing, so I've gotten a chance to come down and do David's part. Some day I'll get together with somebody who can handle the high registers and I can actually try give Stephen's line a go.
