  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 09:11 AM) I must have been thinking of some other governor. Anyway, I think those union guys are one of the two reasons Obama is even still in this thing. They would normally be Clintonites, except that some of those unions endorsed Barack. That plus the Chicago effect. I think he takes the northern indiana urban areas by 20%, Indianapolis by 10%, and the college towns like South Bend and Lafayette by 20%. Clinton takes the rest of the state by like 30%+, and Clinton ekes out a win. That's my barely educated guess at this point. South Bend will break about even. Notre Dame students will break for Obama, and so will a lot of IUSB kids, but there is a big contingent that leans Hillary in South Bend too. The demographics in South Bend/Mishawaka/Elkhart generally favor Clinton when you break away from the schools.
  2. If supply/demand was really the issue, the price of oil would be a lot lower, no? Inventories are not significantly lower than they have been in past years. In fact they are higher, no? The problem seems to be that oil is being traded like a commodity recently (i.e. Gold) almost being used as a hedge against the dollar. My prediction: if the government actually starts to follow the strong dollar policy that they've given lip service to over the past six years of constant depreciation, we'll see oil back in the 70 dollar a barrel range within a year.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 26, 2008 -> 12:42 AM) Just to clear a few things up... - It was most definitely Orange Gatorade. - I was indeed drinking Busch Light that night. - The point for the Gatorade mention is that I do not go to bed drunk unless I have a Gatorade with me. Gotta love those electrolytes. Prevents cotton mouth and hangovers. - Lastly, I typed it and still have no clue what "T^jod id erweaj." means. I've had 1 experience with Absinthe and I was entirely disappointed. Absinthe is a totally different drunk. Most of it doesn't have wormwood oil in it tho, and you have to drink it more than a few times to get the hallucinations. It doesn't come immediately.

    Love that chicken from Popeyes!
  5. McCain is the only Presidential candidate still standing that will have a guaranteed spot in the November General Election. In this term, Clinton has missed 30% of floor votes. Obama about 40%. McCain? 58%. Senator Tim Johnson missed the first year of this term with a massive brain hemmorage. He has now missed nine fewer votes this term than John McCain.
  6. QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) We all have time, talent, and treasure that some organization can use. Most people who give one or more of the three to a worthy cause they believe in, are rewarded ten fold. Thank you for helping in this fight Rex. Thanks. This is an issue that affects so many people and there's a good chance that we can do a lot to stop or slow the progression of the disease. Thanks for support and your donation.
  7. Vandy, thanks for the support and the donation!
  8. Local office, yes. More than that, no.
  9. Indiana is shaping up to an interesting primary. But I don't know that it is as important as people think. I believe Obama needs somewhere in the range of 50 more superdelegate endorsements to mathematically eliminate Hillary, even if he underperforms in the remaining contests.
  10. Thanks for your donation, Southsider!

  15. Hey, This summer I made a decision to help fight HIV/AIDS in my state, New York. I will be riding the Empire State AIDS Ride from Niagara Falls to NYC in August. This is a 560 mile bicycle tour over 7 days, and I'm committed and excited to do the ride. However, I can't do it alone. I'm looking to raise $3,500 between now and August to help fight the disease, and you can give a secure donation via the internet. Any and all support would be greatly appreciated. I am riding for AIDS Rochester, an organization that works to educate about the disease and to prevent transmission across a good chunk of the state. You can donate by going to my personal ESAR website, http://ESAR6.kintera.org/rexkickass, and just following the instructions. It is quick and easy. If you can't afford to donate, vocal support is also really welcome. Thanks, Rex Kickass
  16. As of today I am back down to the 247 I was at right when I broke my tailbone.
  17. I am not a Hillary supporter at this time. But if something crazy happens and she wins the nomination, I will support her.
  18. We're gonna close this megathread for the Dem Primaries and replace it up top with the two candidate specific threads. Since this thread has become little more than support one, bash the other anyway - it will make for easily sortable reading. Thanks, Rex Kickass
  19. It's not unreasonable to see MT or KS in play for Obama, and because NE isn't a winner take all electoral college, I could see him peeling one electoral vote off there.
  20. I believe OE, Steel Reserve and Colt 45 are Malt Liquor and not really beer per se. My vote goes for Schlitz. And Schlitz Ice.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) The Dems have to be kicking themselves for ever giving the GOP that idea during the Michigan primaries. Yes, the GOP had never done that before this year. Never.
  22. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Apr 16, 2008 -> 05:52 PM) I believe it was the party that 'ditched' him, when they decided to run a challenger to him in the primary because they didn't like his war views. Nevermind all the rest of the votes, that one area was enough for them to tell him they don't want him anymore. And then when he ended up winning anyway, they came crawling back to have him caucus with them to maintain the majority. He could have told them where to go, but he didn't, and stood with his (ex) party. Hell, why don't we just behead him for being the apostate he is, damn him for changing parties! it's not like the Dems have ever accepted a Republican who decided to switch parties or anything (Jim Jeffords). I'm calling BS on this. The party elite did not support Ned Lamont. Not in the Primary and not in the General. Why don't you ask Obama who he campaigned for? Here's a hint, it wasn't the Democratic Nominee. The Democrats stayed the hell away from CT in 2006, and Reid and Schumer cut a deal with Lieberman to allow him the ability to win. The party elite didn't ditch him. Just turns out the people who vote in the Democratic Party itself thought he maybe should have retired.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) IE, the general public isn't smart enough to get it right, so we do it for them... For the party that has complained the loudest about the electoral college, they need to clean up their own house first. Neither system is perfect, but the Democratic model is far more representational. Unlike the GOP model, there are not winner take all situations in states.
  24. So this week after the tailbone fracture and lower back injury and moving, I started working out again. 20 miles on the bicycle yesterday. NYC is different than the Jersey Shore in that there are actually hills. And the Williamsburg Bridge is just a big giant hill. It hurted my thighs. Oh, I'm a little fatter too. 251 at last count.
