  1. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) I think it was last week, Anderson Cooper from CNN was in Niger doing 3 or 4 days worth of reporting. Of course..no one really watches his show That's cause he's biased. Duh. :-P
  2. I think she's wrong. And he's wrong. Nobody's right here. Neither is Bill O'Reilly who equated her protest to treason.
  3. Military Law is different than Civil Law. So the same protections, etc. do not necessarily apply. I wonder if an adultery law was actually enforced, if a conviction would be upheld.
  4. So often presidents come across as someone different than they really are.
  5. I'm pretty sure that when the Supreme Court invalidated the sodomy law in Texas, it invalidated adultery laws as well.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) Adultry is against the law... And then, of course, there is that little matter of him being a Roman Catholic monsignor... It's against canon law, not civil law.
  7. It's an 11 game lead, relax. When it slips below 8, I'll worry.
  8. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) I'm putting "Diddy" in everyone's name now. Steff Diddy Grease Diddy South Diddy Chi Diddy Fla Diddy Gleas Diddy Win Diddy Bri Diddy Thats W. Diddy to you.
  9. I don't agree with what she's doing, but I certainly don't agree with efforts to vilify her. Or hurt her. Where did the ability to have a civil disagreement disappear to?
  10. That isn't nearly as shocking as Madonna falling off a horse.
  11. So we're in a slump? We waited til August, to have our first of the year. Seems like good news to me.
  12. Short answer: you're right. Long answer: you're really right.
  13. this is bulls***. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/0816051texas1.html People who call her the enemy and destroy memorials to our dead soldiers are hypocrites of the worst degree. She might be kind of a nutjob, but nobody deserves that.
  14. I'm not saying we shouldn't be reporting whats happening in Niger. But then again, how many good news stories do you hear from there either? The point is about the type of coverage that we are receiving. That's all.
  15. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) Make the cars look better and maybe I'll take a look at them. There is a Ford Escape hybrid. And I think an Explorer too.
  16. There was a triple suicide bombing in Baghdad today. Killed as many people as in London last month, but I guess that's not as important as "good news" then. Here's the point dude, this stuff happens EVERY day. And if there were 70 bombings a day happening here, you think the Newton, PA little league team getting into the LL World Series would be a news story getting any attention at all?
  17. QUOTE(farmteam @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) That would explain the Bea Arthur thing. It's a poker thing.

    Nicknames.

Roach, Roge, Frogurt, Sox, Roge-blah, blah. Gay Satan.
  19. 2005 Major League Baseball Home Runs to date: 3,648. 2004 Major League Baseball Home Runs total: 5,451. The season is about 70% over. From my bad math skills, I think we'll see a total Home Run total for the year around 4800. About 600 home runs (or about 10%) less than last year. So is the pitching better this year? Or is it really just steroids. And if it is, what does that say about our sudden Cy Young caliber pitcher, Jon Garland. Maybe its the lack of juice that explains his sudden ascension to near ace status?
  20. Don't get me wrong - I don't want anyone to think that this is because of any specific bias on my behalf regarding our current position in Iraq. (It might surprise you actually.) BUT I think that people should look at this with some perspective. The state of Iraq is attacked by insurgents an average of 70 times a day.
  21. It means nothing, they have another week now. And they're going to submit it without questions about Kurdish self-rule and women's rights. Like the EU constitution, they're leaving out the hard bits. Which, like the EU constitution, will bite them in the ass in the long run.
  22. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) They are great, even though we are only half-way through Order of the Phoenix. And, yes, somebody did screw me over by already telling me who it is that dies in Half-Blood Prince. I curse that person and will keep the secret, however. The reason we're so slow getting through teh last books is that I've been appointed the de facto human book on tape and have to read them to my wife on car trips while she drives. She makes me do the accents and the different voices and the whole deal – we are odd people. But we haven't taken any long trips in the last couple of years, and we only get to read after the kids have fallen asleep in the back, so it's been slow going. I think the films are excellent as well, especially the latest one (Azkaban) which took on a new look and a darker tone with the new director. I'm sorry I revealed that you die at the end of the last book. One should never know their future.
  23. If the U.S. was dealing with 70 bombings a day across the country, do you think we should be focusing our reporting on the opening of a new school?
