  1. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) Tell me again how SOXTALK isn't oppressive to the devoutly religious. Another thread proving it is. The man said "take him out." When asked again he said something to the effect he meant "remove from office." Yet here you are crucifying him, comparing him to Bin Laden, & militant muslim clerics. Show me some video where he said "take him out?" You can't because he said - if we think we're going to assasinate this guy, maybe we oughta just go ahead and do it. Pat Robertson isn't devoutly religious. By the by. He's a devout businessman.
  2. Campfires. Crisp mornings. Clean Sheets.
  3. Weezer is such a fun show. Not cause the band has a huge presence on stage or anything, but because the crowd will sing along to every song. It's so awesome to be in that kind of environment. Plus they'll bring their big W.
  4. Jon Stewart can be really funny about these issues - but sometimes he gets on his high horse a little much. I think he's letting the "savior of the news" complex get to his head. But Christopher Hitchens is an asshole - only guy to ever swear on my air that I didn't catch and dump - so I loved seeing Stewart nail his hide.
  5. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 07:59 AM) I may be wrong, but I think you're talking about me. I bought my vehicle because I got a damned good price. I don't only use it for "the once a year family vacation" either. We go on a lot of short extended weekend type trips. I can't begin to count the numerous things I've hauled in my Blazer that would have been impossible in a 4 door sedan. No, it's not in our country's best interest to be dependent on foreign oil. That's why I support drilling in ANWAR. A question...do you think our dependence on items made of plastic keeps the demand for oil high? The cost of producing oil at ANWR has been put at a conservative estimate of 70 dollars a barrel. The amount it produces, when and if it produces a serious commercial amount of oil, the amount we demand will grow to the point that it would only slow the growth of our dependency - NOT reduce it.
  6. We Wib! We Wib! We Wib! (my N is brokeb.)
  7. Look, my point is that players do dangerous things all the time. Look at the NFL's infatuation with cortizone for example. Being illegal? OK, I can accept that, but I think it doesn't enhance performance more than oxygen tenting, lasik surgery or other kinds of medical procedures that athletes might undertake to get an edge. If one is wrong, they all should be. If you don't think Lasik is an unnecessary risk, ask Kathy Griffin.
  8. Personally, I don't think doping is that bad in sports. How is this any worse than a batter getting Lasik surgery that he doesn't really need to get better vision at a baseball?
  9. You can't win the Tour for seven straight years unless you're the best Tour Rider ever - doped up or not.
  10. Even his apology is offensive. I meant kidnap him, not kill him!
  11. I hate gas is a bargain comparisons. That's such bullcrap. Yeah, gas is still cheaper than milk, but how often do you buy 10 gallons of milk to go to work?
  12. I think he doped. I think 95% of Tour riders do. I think it doesn't even really matter.
  13. Apparently they tested his 1999 urine again in 2004 and revealed the results this week in the French Sports Rag. Do I think he juiced? Yes. Do I think it matters? Absolutely not. Juice isn't gonna make you do what he did.
  14. Our local team made it one game away from Williamsport. Lost it in the last inning. 4-3.
  15. That's what I mean. It's not about tax. It's about rules.
  16. The problem is that we really aren't doing with less, we are just shifting the burden to states and cities which tax you MORE as a result.
  17. They do have the branding with the computers. But the compatibility issue and price point was the big difference.
  18. Im happy with my AIM, Yahoo! and MSN Messenger. If I have to use a fourth, I might not be able to handle it anymores.
  19. Remember: 9/11 was the fault of feminists and gays. At least that's what Mr. Falwell and Robertson thought on 9/12/01.
  20. Equal rights means equal responsibilities too.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Mike...seeing as how you live in Michigan City and you probably know your "hood" well, what is the Animal Shelter there like (if you have ever been to it)? We want to adopt another dog and the shelters near my are going dry. My family got two dogs from there. One lived to be like 12 or 13, the one we have now is 15 or 16. So I'd say that the track record is pretty good.
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) Yes, that's a Bush-Cheney octopus-duck-from-hell Please tell me thats not a tattoo on your skin.
  23. That doesn't make any sense. The Republicans set the agenda and hearing dates and votes. The Democrats can only block a vote with a filibuster and there hasn't even been an opportunity for that yet.
  24. That's the thing. I'm a proponent of self-determination for all peoples. If they want an Islamist state, good for them. However, at that point, I can't support us fighting to support a religious based regime. And I think its a massive failure on our part that we couldn't instill in our own small way, a seed of desire for the democratic government that we envisioned for us. Of course, hopefully, this will be in name only in their Constitution. The true test of our efforts here come five years down the line. If its really evolved into a peaceful democracy - there is definitely a huge accomplishment to hang our hats on. If we just set up another tyrant or cleric into a vicehold of power in the Mideast, the things we did were indeed for naught.
