Not all muslims honor that. Just like not all Catholics eat fish on Friday and not all jews keep kosher.

Heard about that this morning. I don't even know what to say.

I'm willing to predict that Opening Day 2006 will be sometime in April of 2006. I don't wanna jinx that though.

I think he's doing it. Getting out of jams in key situations, lasting almost three innings? That has to be a huge confidence booster for a 15 pitch per outing pitcher.

I caught an alewife in Lake Michigan once with my barehands. Of course it was dead at the time. And my friends were playing catch with it. So I caught it a few times.

Between a gun or Anne Murray, I know what I'd rather have for home protection. That Anne Murray is fierce!

Meet the Feebles meeting the Muppets. That's what I want to see.

Wonder how many catfish nuggets that would make.

That's kind of weird to me because the prayers to a deceased person seem to be in violation with the first commandment. One thing about the Catholic Church that I've never understood.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) They are not equal. Those rights & responsibilities stem from a history of associating marriage with raising childrens BORN from their parents. Yes adoption exists as well as foster parents but those numbers have never been large enough to the challenge this assumption. Likewise there exist childless marriages but again those are in the minority. When marriage benefits first started to become commonplace in both govt & the workplace a childless marriage was considered abnormal. There was little sympathy for those who could not have children despite every effort in attempting to do so. They were considered weaker by nature. Over the years we have become a more understanding society to where we recognize the medical difficulties. But that common place association that people get married to have children from natural child birth still holds today. Likewise, when the benefits first came into being it was abnormal for a wife or mom to work. The husband or dad was the bread winner & therefore any benefit bestowed upon him would have to be bestowed upon his wife as well. Today it's common for a wife or mom to work. Thus weakening the need to retain the benefit system for spouses. That should direct the focus then to the children themselves. Decades from now that might be the case. Marriage benefits would give way to parental benefits. And the guardians (grandparents, god parents, next of kin) would be the beneficiaries. That would be the proper thing to do & it would be good for business as well. If that is the best direction then it makes no sense to extend benefits that exist primarily due to historical norms to a group that doesn't fit that historical norm. It's analogous to 2 wrongs don't make a right. It would be better to further transform the marriage benefits towards parental/guardian benefits & do away with the marriage requirement altogether. Now you might think that homosexuals can be just as good at parenting as heterosexuals but unless you can support it with overwhelming data it's just an opinion. Since I do not share your bias I will look at the data both in support & opposition on the question & make an intellectual decision on the basis alone. No personal stories will impact that decision because they serve only to bias the data. The only fact that should be considered a standard is that which applies on a mass scale. According to your logic, menopausal women shouldn't be allowed to marry. Nor should barren women or impotent men. Unless the reason for marriage is for the express and exclusive purpose of procreation, your argument doesn't hold water to me. Because the rights and responsibilities that come along with marriage are soooo much more than childbirth related. We believe as a country that all men are created equal. And equal people deserve equal rights. Obviously you don't believe that gay people are equal to straight people. And as much as I'd like to believe that I might be superior to the average breeder, I know that it isn't true. And I think deep down inside, even though you don't like to admit that straight people aren't superior to gay people, you know its true too.

Fine, I'll be the sanctimonious twat claiming moral high ground. Allowing heterosexual and homosexual persons the same rights and responsibilities in the government or in a company culture is the right thing to do. Equal people deserve equal rights.

It's been so hot and humid on the Jersey Shore, we're actually getting daily tropical downpours.

Nice. They say New Jersey could be next.

The Transformers movie should not be remade on the principle that no movie featuring Orson Welles should ever be remade again.

I believe you need two miracles but its really just a matter of jumping through the hoops before he's declared a saint.

The Supremes did a sort of sidestep here and ruled with common sense. Simply put, if its a sculpture, its probably ok. If it's in an exhibit showing other articles of faith OR other philosophical examples, its definitely ok. If its a framed copy in a courtroom with nothing else to put it in context it probably isn't. If its sewn into a judicial robe, by a wack job who says that Christians are being oppressed in Alabama, it's probably not ok also.

Disney warmly welcomes anyone ready to spend assloads of cash.

Disney's Gay Day is not a Disney Sanctioned event. Lots of gay folks wear red shirts and go to the park that day. That's all that happens.

Public officials can't sue for slander unless it ruins their career. Nobody gives a s*** about this book except for people who already didn't like her. This won't change anyone's mind.... Did you hear Billy Graham this weekend saying that Bill Clinton should be an evangelist and let Hillary run the country?

As long as we average 2 out of 3 games won, I don't care how crappy we play.

In over 40 states, it is still legal to fire a person for being gay or suspecting them of being gay. Nobody is asking for anything special. Equal rights. No more. No less. There's also a big difference between saying something is "good" and something is. I don't think that anybody should say that being gay is "good." They should just say that some people are gay, and they're otherwise the same as everyone else except they dress more fabulous than straight people. I went to Pride in NYC yesterday and was really heartened when I saw all the churches that were represented out there and telling folks that everyone is welcome, and everyone is equal. Nice to see the world jumping on the Quakers' bandwagon.

You're right, but it's still wrong.
