Just curious when we'll see Sarah Palin, John Boehner, Rudy Guiliani and the other Burlington Coat Factory mosque panic pushers talk about how insensitive and inappropriate "International Burn a Koran Day" is.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) Of course, the take home message is not that Obama's prime time address last week changed anything...the point is that Gallup's poll is noisy, like many polls are...and yet last week, there was a slew of "Republicans surge to huge lead!" stories based on Gallup's data, and there are crickets chirping instead of "Democrats surge to close gap!" stories this week. Clearly, liberal media at work.

The 10 point Gallup GOP edge from last week? Completely gone this week.

It was a great day! Thanks for all the warm wishes.

Mayor Daley Won't Run for Re-Election

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) Patrick is somewhere around 35 years old now. Crazy, but I remember the party he had busted up at his dads place in New Buffalo, where one of his buddies used a bat to crush the skull of a kid from City. That kid was in most of my classes that year. In fact, I knew half the kids at that party and arrested at that party. -
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) How about all the other Democrats that like to skip out on thier taxes? Like half of Obama's appointees? I agree with you on Al. He and Jessie are just race hustlers, whose interest is not in fixing things, but getting their piece of the pie. I'm no Jesse Jackson fan, but I don't think him and Al Sharpton should ever be painted with the same brush.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) OK, whenever a Republican politician or activist is caught in some kind of sex scandal, or gets divorced, etc., the left and the media (I know, the same thing) make a big deal out of it since part of the republican party wants to be the 'moral' party. Shouldn't the equivilent for the Dems be taxes and related items? It always seems like Dems or their supporters are getting busted for not paying taxes, or following reporting rules, etc., even while they agitate for higher taxes and more rules on everyone else. I found this story funny. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/al_net_...NnBRAZagK0TgvwN I am extremely happy to disown Sharpton and the NAN from the movement I believe in. He is the political equivalent of an ambulance chaser and has been for decades. Frankly, I'm happy to disown any politician who starred in their own reality tv series.

Just a quick reminder to everyone who s***s on unions and the organized labor movement. If it wasn't for them, you'd be at work today.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) I support civil unions that give gay couples equal legal rights and privileges as married couples. I guess that makes me a bigot. What about a gay person that is against gay marriage? Would they also be considered a bigot? The only way that is possible is to change the definition of marriage federally. Because "marriage" and civil unions are two completely separate things. And beyond that, if its just the word marriage that you oppose, which is what you hint to oppose, I fail to see that argument make any sense to me. If the two things are defined exactly the same way, aren't they then just the same thing?

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 01:00 PM) So, could this be sort of classified as trying to steal an election? http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...ate=fullarticle Ish. But it happens way more often than people realize. Third party spoiler candidates are often encouraged by candidates who stand to benefit. It's unethical to be sure. But its no more stealing an election than getting someone knocked off a ballot because typesetting and formatting errors on a ballott application.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 12:36 PM) If you are against it to the point where you are OK with legislating it away from other people, then I think you should stop ever referring to yourself as a small government conservative. There is a big difference there, and it is more than semantics. At the end of the day, I would rather play ball with someone who doesn't want to make things better rather than the person who actively wants to make things worse.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 10:24 AM) Yeah, but the government aid to Chrysler appeared to be less complete than for the banks. It was, well, we'll give you just enough to survive, but you have to show that you can grow from there. So far, no joy. Actually Chrysler was the only month to month sales improvement in the industry for August, and apparently are operationally profitable. With incorporation of FIAT platforms, future development looks to be kinda exciting actually. Heard rumors of the Fiat 500 sold through Chrysler end of this year or next in the US which is kinda cool.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) Barack Obama Opposes same-sex marriage Joe Biden Opposes same-sex marriage Bigots?? Yes.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 09:58 AM) Why are earlier lines very jagged compared to more recent recessions? A lot less data points? Combination of a smaller workforce and an economy that was more elastic when it came to job growth.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 07:54 PM) You're right. She's a racist b****. Kap, stop trolling. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 09:54 AM) Yes. Which when you think about it is a real condemnation of US economic policy of the last generation. Job growth in previous recessions were driven primarily by increased manufacturing jobs. The lack of a strong manufacturing sector over the last 20 years has really made it difficult for job growth to really grow.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2010 -> 09:51 AM) ? Basically, the only one that your statement is partially accurate about is the 2001 recession. And the reason the drop stalled and turned around is probably directly associated with the stimulus package. I think NSS is using a different metric. Rather than track from peak employment, hes using the technical end of recession to track peak employment. In which case, this actually has been the most robust jobs recovery since 1983.
-
Better numbers on unemployment. The number was still negative - loss of 54,000 jobs BUT the census accounts for over 100,000 of those job losses. Private payrolls did increase - although by a fairly anemic 67,000 jobs. What is significant? The upward revisions for June and July. June numbers were revised to reflect 46,000 fewer job losses and July numbers reflect nearly 80,000 fewer job losses. Given that the bulk of these job losses came from government rolls, that seems like fairly OK news.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 2, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) I know you don't understand. I can sum up what Balta says in three words. Easy enough. You see, it's pretty predictable what the left likes to play every time they're in trouble. Race, race, and race. And an occasional utopian we will make it better for everyone bulls***, which simply is not true. Really? Because his post was about Medicare and Social Security, not about race. Either you need a dictionary to find out what the definition of race is - or you need some literacy lessons, my friend.

There are a couple things going on with her that could sink a candidate in a lot of states. But this is redder than red Arizona, so I don't know how much it will hurt her to be honest.
