  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 3, 2016 -> 10:15 PM) No one is trading for Nick Basto. Or Danny Hayes. Or even Delmonico. At best, they could be throw-ins or minor for minor pieces. Exactly. never said they were going to get us anything.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 3, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) Kind of a 1B logjam in the minors. Basto needs promotion (although he hasn't been in productive in high A ball for long)....to take Delmonico's spot. Delmonico really needs a promotion... but that would be to take Hayes' spot, who doesn't need a demotion. Try Delmonico in the OF. Just let em stay, no where to move up to. Let them build their stats and make better trade bait.
  3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 2, 2016 -> 03:16 AM) Here's the good link to save everyone 5 minutes... http://mlbfarm.com/index.php?team=CWS If you do not care how the players on opposing teams fare.
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 29, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) He came out in the AZL with big strikeouts and no walks and then made a stark improvement during the year. Hopefully he catches up to the pitchers. Pretty ugly contact rate., That is what I recall, he adapted after starting very slowly and striking out a ton early in the season last year.
  5. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) Sunburn back with AA And to replace Sanborn they bring in Jacob Morris, who was left in camp and was not on an active roster.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) Davidson with 9 k's in 22 plate appearances in his 4th try at AAA. Does anyone really want to take spring training stats too seriously anymore? Buddy Bradford taught me that lesson decades ago.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Apr 9, 2016 -> 02:35 AM) O'Connell released? No, he was just put on Barons roster as Dowdy is on DL.
  8. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Apr 11, 2016 -> 11:59 PM) Yep. Released according to BA. Thanks, I finally saw that as well.
  9. Did Josh Wall get cut from Charlotte, I will recheck milb.com but last I looked yesterday he was listed as active with Charlotte, but I do not see him in transactions or on the roster??
  10. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 02:43 AM) I was doing it in my head and missed Richard, Logan, and Torres. Damn. Is Ryan Sweeney out of baseball? Sweeney hit well for the Twins in ST, but I think he got sent to AAA
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) Eduardo Escobar, Hector Santiago, Chris Stewart are others that come to mind Chris Young, Chris Carter
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 9, 2016 -> 05:48 PM) benson, i just can't remember. he does that little hip shake that some old time use to do..... either ny yanks or some major power house hitter in the 70's. dang, i wish i can remember, anyone has any clues??? Joe Pepitone?
  13. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 08:13 AM) For the Sabermetrically inclined..... 2005 SP WAR vs. 2016 SP *projected* WAR.... Buehrle (5.9) ------------ Sale (5.9) Garcia (4.0) ---------Quintana (3.6) Garland (3.5) ---------- Rodon (2.5) Contreras (3.4) ---- Latos/Johnson (1.8) Duque/BMac (1.8) ---Danks (0.8) 05 Staff (22.6)------2016 Staff (14.6) So yeah, that 2005 staff was extremely balanced, full over above-average to nearly all-star level talent 1 through 4. Although I do feel those projections are light on Quintana and Rodon. I think both are 0.5 or better in 2016. But, that was also the best staff in baseball in 2005. If you want to look at the latest WS Champion staffs... 2015 Royals - 7.5 2014 Giants - 8.7 2013 Red Sox - 12.4 2012 Giants - 11.3 2011 Cards - 12.5 So if you want to think about it this way, our 2016 projections, which I think are at least 1 WAR short, are still a few wins better than any recent champion. This is a championship caliber rotation. Just need the offense and defense to come through. Where did you get 22.6, those add up to 17.6 for those 5 starters for 2005? Maybe you used the stat for starts by all starters that year but you only use 5 starter projections for 2016.
  14. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 01:54 PM) Are you referencing the same Kohl Stewart that's striking out less than 5 per 9 in high A? Lol! No kidding, Stewart looks like a bust thus far.
  15. what bugs me is the ability of opt out of the contract, why can't the org have the same in after a number of yrs. what is good of one should be good for the other. Marvin Miller
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 08:30 PM) I did skip Delmonico. Oops, my mistake. That said, I think he starts the year in AA at 1B with Trey at 3B. If Delmonico does well, then a quick promotion to AAA. I could see Barnum repeating A ball again. Gotta challege Tago. I believe he's turning 24, so I think putting him in AAA in a hitters park would be a good test. Was Davis released? I thought I would of caught that. He made it up to AA before struggling there and going to Kanny. For Jarvis, I think it's good to challenge him. I think that team can be really good and really young for that level.. It would be a good test, and you know Sox like to be aggressive with assignments. In terms of Orvis, you're right, I just saw some power that he could bring to the team. Davis is still with the org as far as I know.
  17. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Dec 12, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) I think its funny that you ask "yours?" as if someone is really equipped with the knowledge to even begin a projection like this. What does the asterisk next to some player denote? Which team in the Sox org do you think will have the most success this year? I think its obvious the Barons have the most "prospect talent", but I know that doesn't really mean much for team success. Charlotte had a winning record last year, think they can build on that? How do the Dash look to make the playoffs again in 2016? asterisk is for LH pitchers
  18. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 25, 2015 -> 08:32 AM) Also, I have 0 ideas on how to pronounce his name. My best guess is Con/El. Kane-Lee is how it is pronounced.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 23, 2015 -> 08:33 PM) Sisson must have been let go. He's now the hitting coach at Auburn replacing the Greg Norton. Nope, he left on his own. The new Auburn coach wanted him due to his prior SEC experience.
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 21, 2015 -> 08:10 AM) Alvarez and Engel are the most exciting fringe-prospects we have in my mind. I can not wait to see their 2016 campaigns. Typically when a player really tears it up in the AFL they become more than fringe-prospect, will be interesting to see if Engel becomes much more highly rated. I recall about 4-5 years ago when Tyler Flowers just tore it up for the Braves in this league and shot up the ranking big time.
  21. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 07:26 AM) I remember watching his CWS games for Rice and being excited about him hopefully signing and coming aboard. But let the record show that Danman said this before Engel signed.... Rice?? I thought Engel went to Louisville.
  22. Engel 2-3 today with two doubles, a HBP and 2 runs scored. Did get a CS as well. He has 9 walks and 3 Ks thus far in the Fall League, outstanding thus far.
  23. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 28, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) Sox bats doing surprisingly well in AZL thus far: Engel .370/.471/.519 6/3 BB/K 4 SB Peter .348/.400/.435 Delmonico .176/.250/.529 2 HR Trey is having the worst fall, but it doesnt look like he's played in awhile Trey can only play on Wed and Sat games, he is like a taxi squad player.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 20, 2015 -> 04:14 PM) Pitchers are doing well. Hitters not as much, though Delmonico has shown some pop. It's also pretty early. Engel went 2-3 yesterday and is hitting .300 with a couple walks and SBs. Wendelken threw a scoreless inning as well.
