QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) Yeah I still don't understand how he ended up in Birmingham unless they were making him a starter. Hey Southie, Charlotte has a darn good pen right now too. I think both Bruney and Kinney are unscored upon, or close to it. Let Infante build up his stats in AA, better trade bait for KW then...

Michael (NY, NY): What is one guy you originally thought was sure to make the list who got left off, and why was he left off? Ben Badler: White Sox reliever Nathan Jones was a last-minute cut, but he has outstanding arm strength. His fastball ranges from 94-98 mph, while some people have seen him sitting at 96-98. So that's always going to give him a chance, but he's more of a thrower than a pitcher right now. The command needs work, his breaking ball is a power pitch in the low- to mid-80s but still gets slurvy, and doesn't have much deception, which is one reason why his strikeout rate isn't as high as you might expect for a guy who can pump it into the high-90s.

Minor League Catch-All thread 2009 edition

QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 10:58 PM) Fernando Hernandez, Justin Cassel and Matthew Zaleski are also on Charlotte's roster. Poreda and Russell are gone so that explains 2 of those. Nunez's promotion in Richard's roster spot is spot 3. Santos, Johnnie Lowe and Miguel Socolovich moved up to Bham. Charlis Burdie and Daniel Albritton moved up to W-S. I think they have an open roster spot. Their roster is at 24, isn't it 25 down in A ball? Serafin got a well deserved promotion to Kanny. Joining him is Enrique Lechuga. Dylan Axelrod is a catcher that I have no info on, he could be another addition. FS story on the promotions Axelrod is a pitcher, he was in a different org last year and first 2 months of this year, then we signed him after he was released. The transactions info was incorrect calling him a catcher. He pitched in relief last night. -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 04:17 AM) Bull, He and Hudson had nearly identical numbers in their first 4 starts in April. Hudson (rightfully so), gets the promotion and Carter is still pitching in low A. Now I don't know if it was mechanics to work on more with Carter or maturity issues (which I heard a rumor from) but he was actually well ahead of the curve in low A. I don't care if his era was 4.50, if your striking out guys at a ridiculous pace (10+ K9), not to mention your BB is very low (2.5 BB9), and your H to IP is solid, with a low WHIP, your ass should not be stuck in low A this long. Hell he had better numbers than Hudson in Great falls last year and was one of their dynamic go to pitchers in the playoffs. He should not be in low A this long plain and simple, even if it was maturity issues which I still seriously doubt. Much more to being a pitcher than having good K:BB ratio. How does he handle adversity, how consistent is he. Just let the org do their job.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 12:07 PM) 14 K's last night in 7 innings. I forsee a promotion next year to AA for half a season and then the rest of the year in Charlotte for a September callup. Hope it comes true. No way, there is an entire rotation at Winston-Salem that deserves to get Birmingham call before this kid. Striking out a lot, but not dominating with ERA etc... Promotion to High A ball at Winston-Salem would be next step.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 09:22 AM) Considering Morgado is in the Cape Cod League and tearing it up there, I'm beginning to think it would take above slot for him to sign. One would think so, but is he without a school, I thought he was being pushed out at U of Tenn along with some others. Maybe after he started pitching well UT had second thoughts. I thought he might be the easiest sign of all due to that situation.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 29, 2009 -> 11:13 PM) Kyle Shelton wasn't promoted from Kanny to W-S after all. The open roster spot is with W-S. Yes he was, he played 3B tonight for W-S

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 15, 2007 -> 10:56 PM) Kevin Skogley, will go to GF. Some more signings in here. http://www.gftribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art.../706160320/1006

I know of 3 signings. The 45th rounder, the kid from Great Falls, Ronny Morales signed and is reporting to Great Falls. Skogley, the LH who was taken in 12th rounder out of UNLC has signed and reported to GF. I see in Baseball America they highlighted the SS name of the kid we took from VCU, Sergio Miranda in 13th round, that normally means they have signed, but I have not seen that in writing.

Where did BA rank organization for ML talent?
MnSoxFan replied to caulfield12's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 01:15 AM) Sorry if I missed this...have they released these rankings? I heard the local Royals' announcer talking about how they'd moved way up (I think to #11) from being in the 20's the last couple of years, so I was curious where we stood. Around #10-14? http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...ures/26854.html That's all I could find, but this information is only good through 2006. We were ranked 25th -
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:31 AM) Yeah. Nice guy, but just wasn't impressed with him. I recall a conversation he had with the trainer not long after he came up to AA. The trainer told him he needed to be in early for treatment the next day and his response was "Yeah right, I'm not getting out of bed before 1:00". The trainer just shook his head and shot me a look. That, combined with a few other tidbits, were all I needed to know. Jeez, if teams could just figure out the guys who want it vs the guys who do not, seems like these kind of tendencies could be figured out with some of the tests they have to take, but I guess people can BS those tests too. Thanks for the info, I had not heard that one before.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 05:00 AM) Honel has been hurt and has bounced around trying to make it back. The same could be said for Stumm, except he's done because he was too lazy to work hard enough. Stumm was lazy?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Does Texas have to offer him back to the Sox before they can trade him? Nope, they could trade him to another team first, if they can not do that and then he clears waivers, we would finally get a chance to take him back for 25K. If he does get traded to someone, they have to keep him on 25 man roster for the season, just as KC and Texas had to do when he was selected from the Sox.

Ambriz was an unsigned draftee of the Sox out of HS about 3 years ago.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 10:03 AM) Always serving it up to me when it comes to our prospects don't you. Hopefully Jeckle's gonna watch him a bit over the next few months up there. Shelby could be another Aaron Cunningham mid round special here. SPeaking of which, where is Cunningham? He was doing well for Kanny, but has not played in over a month, does not appear to be on DL either??
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 09:37 PM) Wow, that's not in line at all with what they've done with past #1s lately. You think he'd go to Kanny to give their starting pitchers a shot in the arm at the least. Here is the article http://www.greatfallstribune.com/apps/pbcs...320/1006/NEWS17

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 18, 2006 -> 05:40 AM) McCullouch would start out at Kanny at the lowest. Nope, he is starting at Great Falls per Bobby Tolan, the mgr for the Great Falls team, said he was promised McColloch would be there by the 24th. Look for power from Chris Carter the 1B-3B, lot of power. Christian Acosta is a good hitter too.
