No, but Jerry is doing exactly what David Samson said he'd do. Jerry doesn't want a winner. He wants a second place team, and that's exactly what he has built. Every year there are guys that overperform and guys that underperform. The Sox cannot afford any underperformance whatsoever and expect to make the playoffs as anything more than the second wild card, if that. They need everything to go right to win the division, and these are exactly the types of teams Jerry put together from 2000-2012.

Keith Law's Top 100, 2 White Sox make the list
Jack Parkman replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in FutureSox Board
He was convinced about that before the draft. He had Crochet 44th or so on his top draft prospect list. -
Join me.....come to the dark side......together we can b**** about Jerry and wait it out until there is new ownership.

Of course it was. We're all idiots for giving them the benefit of the doubt. Shame on us.

It's coming from Bob, dude. Bob is Jerry's BFF in the media. If it comes from Bob about the Sox, it's pretty accurate. I didn't even think they'd land Hendriks so at least they did that. -

You hate when you're right....... -
^^^ The amount of contempt the Sox brass has for their fanbase only approaches Bill Wirtz. Jerry and Bill must have been BFFs. If Jerry railroads his own team's window for a 2nd time just to stick it to the MLBPA we should never forgive him.

I also think Jerry is ok with it for the most part, with exceptions being players he's actually interested in acquiring. -

I'm completely ok trading Vaughn and signing someone like Ozuna. -

Gray personally, I'd like to see what he can do outside of Coors. -

I'm talking about the elder Cespedes, who has proven himself with the A's and Mets. -

@macsandz Do you think the Sox will end up solidifying the rotation via trade or signing? What can you share without burning your source? -

I know everyone's going to hate it, because righty and stuff but I think that Yoenis Cespedes will be the Sox DH this year. Todos los Cubanos. -
Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers
Jack Parkman replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Go look at his baseball savant profile. Matz sucks. Of the pitchers left, Odorizzi and Archer are pretty much the only ones worth signing. Odorizzi probably isn't happening. -
Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers

Most people would think I'm a negative nancy. There are a lot of reasons to be excited about the Sox. Literally the only reason to be pessimistic is because ownership won't authorize the moves to put the team over the top, yet again. I'm fine going with Cease in the rotation, with Kopech not far behind. I don't like the Lynn move because he's old and even if they wanted to extend him if he's good, he won't be cheap, so he's probably gone. The Sox moves this offseason are a C-/D+ from me. They improved a bit, but likely only this year. -
Trade Whispers - Starting Pitchers

This would be hilarious if there wasn't a lot of truth to it. Welcome to White Sox baseball. -
They're going to be cap fucked anyway over the next couple years, might as well do it with a franchise QB.
-
Yeah, but the QB is 26 years old and the Bears would finally have that position solved. It will take a couple years to build around him. At that point, they're moving on from the aging defense via cuts and re-investing those cap dollars into the offense. Start re-building the D by trying to find undervalued players on the FA market and other ways. Plus, if Mack and Quinn are healthy they theoretically should still have a hell of a pass rush, even if they're weaker in the secondary. They still have some long-term pieces on the D even without Smith and Johnson in Jackson(if 2018 wasn't a fluke) Nichols and Goldman. Mack is still good so even though he's paid a lot and is older, he's going to be here for a while. 2021 is going to suck either way, so why not just fix the QB position, which has been the Bears bugaboo for 70 years, and deal with the rest later?

Outside the box package for Watson: 2021 1st and 2nd, Jaylon Johnson and Roquan Smith I'd throw in a 2022 2nd if that wasn't enough
-
You can't throw that flag there.
-
That was brilliant by the Packers there to go offside on purpose.
-
It should be pretty much over now. TB can run out the clock.

I think it's time for the Bears to ask themselves whether Eddie Jackson was ever good. He may have just had a career year in 2018.
