The Wainwright to the Cards Thread
Me too, but I think Wainwright is the guy they ultimately sign.

That's a really good point.

Foodies: Sox/Giolito discussing an extension?????
Will there even be a 2022 season? The owners and MLBPA are on opposite sides of the observable universe. They're as far apart as can be.

Foodies: Sox/Giolito discussing an extension?????
It's a very White Sox thing....just when you think things are going great, disaster is right around the corner.

Foodies: Sox/Giolito discussing an extension?????
It's too early to say for sure. I think you have to see how Kopech/Crochet/Kelley/Vera/Thompson/Dalquist do for a couple years.....then evaluate if you want to do a "last dance" in 2023. Complete balancing act right now though. This is why I wish they'd have used Dunning in a larger package for someone with more control than Lynn. This is teetering on being A KC like 3 year window or something much more. We don't know yet. It fucking blows that we're in Chicago and comparing our window to that of the fucking Royals.

Foodies: Sox/Giolito discussing an extension?????
Yep, that seems to be why they're holding on to their young pitchers. If Kopech/Crochet show enough by the end of 2022, it wouldn't shock me to see Giolito moved. A cautionary tale though is the supposed OF logjam of 2018, where none of the guys outside of Robert/Jimenez turned out to be MLB players. They need to self scout better this time.

Foodies: Sox/Giolito discussing an extension?????
Gio is in line for a $200M+ contract if he reaches free agency. Those two FA years are going to have to be north of 30M. I don't see Jerry doing that......We should all enjoy him while he's here, and if Kopech emerges, as much as I hate to say it....consider moving him vs letting him walk for nothing.

- Sox & Gio Settle for $4.15M

Now that you say that, I'll be surprised if TA is too. SS is also loaded.- Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
That's fair.- Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
Yes, it's an opinion based on Jerry being dissatisfied with agent fuckery during free agency. I don't think Jerry wants to deal with the headache.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Is dayton83 Al's Beef?- Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
One point someone else made is that there's been a lot of fuckery going on with Bauer's Free Agency. Jerry hates that shit. I'm pretty sure Jerry has banned Hahn from talking to Luba.- Mlb Networks top 10 at each position
TA and Gio will, Robert and Moncada won't. Moncada didn't make it last year. 3B is loaded.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
To be fair, they traded for Peavy with 3 years and 66M left on his deal, back when 20M contracts were like 30M contracts now. They took a huge risk with Peavy as he had a leg injury when they traded for him and it bit them in the arse because he had a shoulder injury and was never the same. I'm not sure Giolito will be extended because Peavy and Danks are still fresh in Jerry's mind.- Mlb Networks top 10 at each position
Finally, Abreu gets the respect he deserves when compared to Rizzo.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Oh hell yeah. That's a team that could have won the WS with those guys at the back of their rotation. Idk if they sign Loaiza if they have Wells and Fogg though, and that would have hurt that team.- Michael Brantley to the ASTROS 2 years 32 mill per Nightengale
They moved Vladito to 1B, right?- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Neither is Eaton. I thought they were looking for guys with an edge? I know there's a difference between being an edgy player and just being a dick. Maybe Villar is the latter.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Maybe it's just me, but I think Villar is undervalued in the current market. He's a decent player, IMO. It would be a cheap, sneaky good move. He was worth 4.0 fWAR in 2019. It seems like he's been around forever, but he's only 29.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
No fucking way.....Burnes stuff is really good but he doesn't have the track record for that kind of package. Consistency matters, which is why I think this will be less expensive than most think. I think the Madrigal, Lopez, Kelley, Heuer package is probably closer to accurate. There's a lot of control left, but he had what, 9 successful starts in a 60 game season in 2020 and that's all? This is someone that you're supposed to be buying at a fair cost, hoping for continued success not paying a premium in trade for. Burnes should be slightly more expensive than Musgrove.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Yeah ew.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
If the Burnes stuff is fake, I'm also ok with Archer if his velocity is ok. He had TJS though, right? If it was shoulder related I'd stay away, as shoulder issues are always worse than elbow issues. - Sox & Gio Settle for $4.15M
