  1. Jerry is 85. Is it possible he's lost his marbles? Can someone else in the ownership group force him to step down and sell his shares?
  2. They don't have enough pitching. They've fucked it up so much that the contracts don't matter.
  3. I don't think that. I'm not spewing hot takes here. Fuck Jerry. Fuck Tony. They should be going all in in free agency, learning from the Cubs by not trading their best young players for rentals/short term solutions. Now the only way they're going to be able to add to this team is by trading what's left of their minor league depth. The window has now been significantly shortened, so just fucking trade the kids and try to win one title in the next 3 seasons. If they won't even do that......then whatever. I almost wish I didn't like baseball. This is the second time Jerry fucking sabotaged his own team's championship window. Fuck him.
  4. I honestly don't know what they should do....They were in a great position and Jerry fucked it up.
  5. I'm pretty sure any chance the Sox had of signing Giolito to an extension went out the window. Jerry is sabotaging this team's window. It's going to be really hard to sign free agents this winter. I'm not sure there's going to be many who will sign up to play for TLR. They're going to have to over pay by many dollars to get someone to sign here. If the money is close, they'll go elsewhere. Way to fuck up a desirable destination, Jerry. Or, that could be exactly what he wanted.
  6. Correct. It would suck as it would mean that any deal for a major piece would have to include Vaughn, Kopech or Crochet. Ew. If they're trading for a RF they're going to lock up long-term, I'm fine with moving Vaughn. If they're trading for a pitcher that is established and has a bunch of team control left like Gallen or Woodruff I'd begrudgingly move Kopech. If they trade Crochet I'll scream because lefties with his stuff don't grow on trees. Spending only money and keeping your young guys is probably the best way to go.
  7. Makes sense. He might have very little value, for all we know. I'm seeing what they're seeing.
  8. I'm not a huge fan of Cease and would definitely sell on him if he still has a ton of value. I'd trade both Cease and Dunning before Kopech or Vaughn. I'm fine moving out a couple of young pitchers for a long term plug. I wouldn't want to trade Kopech or Crochet though.
  9. I'd trade Kopech for Marquez begrudgingly, but not Darvish. Kopech and Marquez are about the same age. Marquez is proven and Kopech isn't.
  10. So this vaccine blocks ACE receptors. That means that some drugs to treat other diseases that previously worked through ACE receptors could possibly become ineffective. They have to investigate that stuff before they can give this to everyone.
  11. No matter how many people have participated in the phase three studies, there's absolutely nothing they can do to prove to me it's safe other than give it the proper time. (24-36 months) Long-term side effects are called such because they appear during a longer timescale. I don't trust anything that has been around for less than 2-3 years. Sorry. They have no idea what could happen a year or two down the road, until they actually have people that have had the vaccine for 2-3 years. There's a reason why the record for a safe vaccine is 4 years. I take that as 3 years as the minimum amount of time to prove no adverse long-term reactions.
  12. This is wonderful news, however............... How many times have drugs been FDA approved and pulled 10 years later after multiple deadly side effects have been found? Hold your horses. Get back to me in 2022. Then we can talk. They're two months in. The profit motive can pervert science and create a dangerous situation. The consequences of an adverse side effect that doesn't show itself for 18-36 months or so, could be worse than the Rona itself, especially for something that would need to be distributed to the entirety of humanity.
  13. Darvish has been pretty damn good outside of the first season and a half with the Cubs. I'm convinced the Astros cheating in the 2017 WS fucked with his head, and he only made 8 starts with the Cubs in 2018 while fighting injuries. It's not like he hasn't been dominant before. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/darviyu01.shtml
  14. Rogue One was excellent. My only complaint is that it needed more Vader.
  15. Anyone here ice fish? I'm looking forward to getting out for the second half of the season after my recovery from foot surgery.
  16. Are you blaming me? Yeah, I've been as guilty of it as a bunch of people, but most of it is responding to ignorant people who spew hateful rhetoric.
  17. How can you possibly say that it's false? Political conversation bleeds into every thread, whether it's covid or protests in baseball/other sports, or even the MLB CBA negotiations. In my view, everywhere has become the buster.
  18. No, but you'd think it would in the Majors. I'm not sure the minor leagues use spray charts like MLB teams do.
  19. Because if he doesn't show some power the base hits will stop. The OF will play shallow and they'll take away the singles.
  20. Or, they can lower their gross tax share by re-investing in their company by taking less profit and paying employees more. That's how high taxes actually work, and why they helped build the middle class in post-depression America. Also, you do realize that most middle class people have an 8-10k deductible on their health insurance, right? 4k would save the average American family 4-6k right off the bat. I'd rather pay 4k in taxes than 10k to an insurance company that STILL has the "right" to deny you coverage. Conventional economics are wrong, and they don't actually explain how the economy actually works. I suggest you listen to this podcast: https://pitchforkeconomics.com/
  21. I wouldn't expect a full season next year, guys. Maybe probably 80 to 100 games at most.
  22. Same with the Bears offensive line Sunday. Spriggs tested positive for Covid today and Ifedi is in quarantine, though has not tested positive. Massie was placed on IR and Whitehair is still out. Leno could be the only week 1 starter on the OL starting Sunday.
