Lopez has a good change, it's probably his best secondary pitch....he hangs it a lot. Wen he locates the change he's good. I'd like to see him out of the pen to see if he could be a Rodney type before completely giving up on him.

Because both are coming off injury. If you listened to Gio Gonzalez talk, he'd have probably missed 2-3 months had the season started on time.

We'll find out in a few years when some of these guys are free. Maybe he's going to spend this time.

I have mixed feelings about JR as well. He's done a lot of good things but his level of contempt for the players is baffling. He continually refuses to pay players what they're worth, however he and his front offices are very good at getting their players to sign below market value contracts. I imagine he treats his players very well in every way except financially.

BTW, I knew he had a 60% ground ball rate but I also thought he gave up more hits than he has been this training camp. Thought he'd be a bit homer prone as well.

When you have JR complaining about losing money, does it even matter what the payroll is? Who knows, he could end up slashing payroll this winter. It would be incredibly dumb but it wouldn't surprise me. The guys the Sox have now seem to be who they're going to war with. Maybe some bargain bin hole filling here and there, but I wouldn't count on anymore spending. BC?(before covid) Sure. Now, not so much. They also have money owed to the core players like Moncada, Eloy, and Robert. Those guys aren't cheap anymore. Giolito is hitting Arb 1 next year as well, as is Lopez.
