That team can absolutely rake, unless Donaldson and Cruz fall off of a cliff. I hate to say it, but I still think the Sox are the 3rd best team in the ALC on paper but it's close between the Sox and Indians.

Castellanos made sense before they signed EE.

If Crochet does well as a starter this year, he's long gone by 11. LHP with that kind of stuff don't last that long, Chris Sale notwithstanding.

I thought there was enough evidence Pace sucks already. I liked him up until this season when all of his first rounders failed to develop(Floyd) or took a major step backwards(Trubisky/Smith) I never liked Trubisky but he showed enough growth in 2018 for me to be cautiously optimistic. Then he did a faceplant this season. Trubisky needed Kyle Shanahan to be successful. He'd fit his system like a glove. Too bad they didn't get him when he was available. Everyone has a right to b**** about Trubisky/Mahomes because that's the difference between the Bears being a juggernaut and in NFL purgatory of 7 to 9 wins annually.

Not yet...there's not enough evidence. If George loves these guys.....we could get there. Pace and Nagy are fucking buffoons.

Bauer is awesome. I've always been a fan. Glad he's off the Indians so I can root for him again.
-
I'll take 1-15. Then they get Trevor Lawrence too. George? Awe shit...I hope to all that is holy in football we don't have a Mike Brown/Marvin Lewis situation. I might have to commit football seppuku.

Kids these days have very little allegiance to laundry like we do. They root for their favorite players, rather than any one team. Sports are much less frustrating that way. I can't blame them.
-
Everyone's gone after this upcoming season. 2020 is just the Nagy/Pace death march to 7-9.

As long as owners/GMs view them as personae non grata it works all the same.

Exactly. Like I said the AL is a gauntlet this year. There aren't a lot of easy wins to be had. Even Texas and the Angels are quality teams, that should hover in the 80-85 win range. I don't think anyone in the AL is winning 100 games. Also can't count the Indians out unless they trade Lindor, Clevinger or both. The Sox are lucky in that they play in the only division with 2 rebuilding teams, but so do the Twins and Indians. Nobody should be disappointed if the Sox win 85-88 games and miss the playoffs.

It's definitely a CYA moment.

They were missing that ace until this coming season, and they stole him from their main competition. Also, the Sawx are damn good if Sale is healthy. The AL is a gauntlet this year....there will be lots of quality teams. At least 3 in each division. The only teams in the AL that aren't trying to win are the Mariners, Royals, Tigers and Orioles. The Sox don't have anyone as good as Cole yet, and they don't have a bullpen as deep with good power arms as the Yankees have. Keuchel is the type of pitcher that the Yankees obliterate annually. He's your game two starter right now.
-
What I mean is to fill the holes. The Yankees are as close to a perfect team, when healthy, as there is in baseball right now. They have about as few holes as an MLB team can reasonably have. The Sox can't compete with the arms they have in their bullpen. They only need their starter to go 5 innings and then it's pretty much game over.
-
You're not scared of Gerrit Cole and Aaron Judge? (at the very least) That's bold.
-
Like I said, the Sox have never played them in the postseason before. If they do and get crushed, it will be interesting to see how the FO responds.
-
Bunch of liars.
-
Unfortunately, it's going to be hard to get by that team in NYC. One might have heard of them before. They have 27 championships. I don't think the Sox have ever played the Yankees in the postseason. I'm not looking forward to the first ever meeting. I hope it stays that way.

Offseason 2019-2020 MLB Catch All Thread

Could this involve Kris Bryant and Matt Chapman? EDIT: Nope. 1 for 1 swap. -
Reminiscing about 2005 Sox team and record that will never be broken
Jack Parkman replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Freddy Garcia gave whatever he had left for that ring. He was never the same pitcher after the 2005 season. He was topping out at 94 mph in game 4 of the WS and never threw a fastball over 90 mph again. -
There's no reason to be a fan of only your local team anymore. Be a fan of whoever you want to be. With all of the international streaming options, every team is competing for fans worldwide. It was very different when we were growing up.

Someone edit the thread title to say they've been fired.

One can only hope Luhnow and Hinch never get another job in baseball again due to being very toxic. AJ Preller is the counterargument.
