  1. And the detractors say we're making excuses for him, but whatever. If Politics has taught us anything, it is that people are irrational, facts don't matter and people will believe what they want to believe. To each their own.
  2. It was pretty obvious it wouldn't last. I would have done nothing and started doing the leg work on the Eaton/Sale/Quintana deals. It would have been very nice to have Tatis along with this group of players. It didn't happen. We all need to move on. It isn't our money, The Sox have a bottom 5 payroll in baseball. It isn't like Shields' contract has prevented the Sox from doing what they want to do. All it is costing the Sox is JR's money and 1 roster spot.
  3. Obviously in hindsight you move Fulmer for someone better, but at the time the Sox had nothing to give to acquire anyone worthwhile. They were sinking and trying to stop the bleeding. In reality, they couldn't have done any better than Shields for Erik Johnson and Tatis at that time, unless others in baseball knew what Tatis would become. In any event, they tried to make one last ditch effort to save that season, it didn't work and they blew it up. I really don't fault the Sox for being aggressive when they're trying to contend. Players come and go. Banners fly forever.
  4. It is more than understandable that the Sox fanbase has prospect PTSD though. Their track record of both traded prospects and ones they kept have been horrible for 15 years running. They've gone through 4 directors of amateur scouting during that time.
  5. I second this point. If Avi would have stayed healthy this year he probably would have exploded. He is exhibit A for patience with Moncada.
  6. It is pretty hard to criticize a front office for trading a guy who hadn't been out of the DSL yet. He never even played for the Sox AZL team, let alone Great Falls or Kanny.
  7. I know. It was wonderful for so long and then all of the sudden around 2016 when a lot of people(including myself) started criticizing management left and right, it seemed the mods agreed they deserved criticism and got lax. It got better last year, but now that some of the more important players in the rebuild are up and there are some growing pains nobody can be objective and it is all Moncada/Lopez/Giolito sucks and TATIS!!!!! all of the time. I've moved on from Fernando Tatis Jr. He wasn't even here long enough for most to know who he is. I try to forget that he was ever Sox property.
  8. I only point out RR sucks when he does something egregiously bad. That is more often than I'd like. I agree that this place has become too much of the wild west. But if you go to a place like WSI, with super strict mods that place is a ghost town. Finding the balance is a tricky thing to do.
  9. I've become a smarter fan since my early 20s. I don't attach an entire season to one at bat anymore. This is Baseball. Baseball is like a dog. It is your friend. Even if it pisses you off on one day, you get to start new tomorrow. You still love it, and it still loves you.
  10. I have spent much time in gamethreads. I don't mind it as much when the team is supposed to win. I've been guilty of it in those seasons. This is the first true rebuild since I've been here(I found this board in the 05-06 offseason) so overanalyzing every at bat is beyond insufferable. I prefer to look at the macro, rather than the micro, in this process. As long as the young players are making improvements, I really don't care about results.
  11. Thanks. I'm really getting sick of the whining, b****ing and moaning about every single at bat that results in an out. I started a thread for the grouches of the board who like to whine about everything.
  12. Save the whining for the Moncada thread. We don't have to hear about #bustwatch every time he has an at bat. I'm getting tired of it. As a matter of fact, I think we should have a thread for all of those who only want to b**** about Moncada sucking. Nobody's happy about it and development isn't linear. Kwitcherb****in people. It makes gamethreads insufferable.
  13. He was fighting his delivery before about that time. He was flying open and losing velocity and command. Once he stopped doing that, both the command and velocity got much better.
  14. I think Giolito may have already taken that step but we'll see next spring. I'm a little worried about him needing a third of a season to find himself again after this coming offseason. It seems like long layoffs affect Giolito and Moncada very negatively.
  15. I don't know how you can say that. Giolito has a 3.16 ERA in his last 5 starts. He's really turned a corner. Ignore anything LG did before 6/15. Rodon has been really good too.
  16. I think they're waiting until they can move Shields to open up a spot for Kopech. Then again, Covey probably should be in the bullpen so maybe they move him and DFA Santiago.
  17. See this is scary, and I was pointing this out in the sports media thread. People say " you have free speech, but it doesn't protect you from the consequences of your actions" This is how the previous statement itself is a mechanism to suppress free speech. You can't put the ability of one to provide for themselves and their families at risk for exercising their right to free speech. If you do that, then you truly don't have free speech, because you can suppress speech by making one conform to the norms of the powers that be or starve. That is not free speech, or freedom in general. The truth is, unless you're independently wealthy, you have zero rights and zero freedoms. Not having to worry about finances, being able to buy your way out of whatever problems you may have, that is true freedom.
  18. SS. I don't know what they do with Anderson.
  19. I figured it out by tinkering on my own. I realized I needed to shorten my backswing a bit in order to get the ball in the air because I was taking it so far back that i was bobbing my head. Once I did that, getting it in the air was easy. I was messing with my swing plane.
  20. Yes. It would have to be heavily lopsided in The White Sox favor to make a deal around Moncada at this point. Everyone is available, if the price is right. Nobody would be willing to pay what it costs to acquire Moncada currently.
  21. Go look at what he did in AAA last year for the first 2 months before he got hurt. He was absolutely destroying AAA before he missed a month. He seems to struggle with any sort of long layoff when returning. He was hitting .340 and had an OPS hovering around 1.000
