  1. Gustav Forsling out 14 weeks for wrist surgery. https://www.nhl.com/blackhawks/news/release-forsling-has-wrist-surgery/c-299638090
  2. Only if you subscribe to the George Carlin school of "Guys named Todd" LOL.
  3. Wow. Makes me feel even more dumb. if both Meadows and Jimenez are bad at defense, then it is clear who the better player is.
  4. Ok makes sense. Makes all of my previous posts on the subject feel dumb.
  5. I laugh that you still call him Tom Longo even though he said that his name isn't Tom.
  6. Hm. Interesting. I don't know where I got that then.
  7. Not arguing Cease/Glasnow. I was just reading Fangraphs and they were talking about Meadows having to move to LF. If true, then this is no longer as close as I thought it was. In fact, it isn't close at all. I was under the impression that Meadows was a plus defender in CF. Good job on the Pirates to cash in on severely depreciating assets.
  8. I'm not arguing that Eloy and Cease are better, I agree after more thought. I was more comparing it to if both of these deals were made in 2017. Cease in 2018 puts the Sox deal way over the top. I might be dumb, but I'm not sure whether I like Eloy or Meadows because while Eloy can rake, Meadows can play defense and Eloy might be a 1B/DH. I'm not sure though that Eloy would be any better at 1B than Abreu is now though. His poor defense takes away a ton of his bat's value.
  9. Right. Eloy, when traded was ranked similarly to Meadows, and Cease had been injured a lot and hadn't progressed much from draft day. Cease wasn't even a top 100 or even 150 when the deal went down. There were tons of questions about whether he could start, and most of the value that both Eloy and Cease have now has been gained since the trade for Quintana. If this deal went down on 7/31/17 I'm not sure that we wouldn't have been complaining that the Rays got more. What a difference a year can make.
  10. Don't get me wrong I still like our package better but this is closer than most give it credit for. Maybe I'm letting my disdain for Adam Engel get in the way of better judgment haha.
  11. I just think that Jimenez being most likely a DH takes away a lot of the value of his bat. I still lean toward Jimenez/Cease because Cease is killing it but we don't know what Glasnow would do with Coop.
  12. I wouldn't have completely written off Glasnow as a starter in the Sox org, he would have been a Coop Special. Look at the progress Giolito has made already, even if he's not quite there yet it's a far cry from the gascan he was to start the season.
  13. So they're in the box for another season. Gotcha. That is a hell of a penalty to pay for signing Robert. We better hope he's as advertised. Sucks to not be able to sign anyone for over 300k internationally until 2020.
  14. I'm not complaining really, but I'm not sure which package I like better tbh. Jimenez being a DH kind of makes this closer than at first glance.
  15. How does that do them any good? it is past July 2 so I don't know how this isn't 2019 money. I'm not sure when the period is, because if the 2018 period ends on 7/2/2019, then that means they're in the box for another year.
  16. Why are they giving away their 2019 international money? Aren't they out of the penalty box next year?
  17. At that time, Archer had an extra year of control, so it makes sense.
  18. I don't know why those guys supposedly weren't on the table for Quintana during winter of 17 when he hadn't fallen apart yet, and was just coming off his best season but were on the table for Archer, who is a worse pitcher than Quintana was at that time. Seems weird to me.
  19. Nope. Doesn't look like anyone's going anywhere.
  20. Someone with the MiLB feed needs to watch the Barons game and report on where Medeiros is with the Fastball. Would be greatly appreciated.
  21. Understatement of the week. He's a butcher.
