lol, now UVA gets bases loaded with 0 outs and cant score. Craziness.
-
Wow, UVA escapes once again. South Carolina gets the first two on a strands them. Gotta think UVA makes them pay this inning now.
-
UVA's closer is closing in on 100 pitches. Gives up a single and then drills a guy who is trying to bunt.

Sad news out of Costa Rica today. ESPN Link

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) That's a bit of a stretch. The credibility of Mexican soccer on the world stage has been there for some time now, and the USA has grown by leaps and bounds over the past 15-20 years. These are two legit countries now. Yes, CONCACAF has some minnows, but Honduras has gotten better, Costa Rica is usually good, Panama has improved greatly in recent years and Jamaica and Canada have their moments. The top of the group is still better than the OFC and AFC and probably on par with the CAF Maybe the US and Mexico but that's it. The other countries have been horrible outside of CONCACAF. Just look at the past World Cup results involving CONCACAF teams not named the US or Mexico: 2010: Honduras 0-2-1 0 GF, 3GA 2006: Costa Rica 0-3-0 3 GF, 9GA. Trinidad and Tobago 0-2-1 0 GF, 4 GA 2002: Coata Rica 1-1-1 5 GF, 6 GA 1998: Jamaica 1-2-0 3 GF, 9 GA 1994: No third team. Canada loses to Australia in CONCACAF-OFC Playoff 1990: Costa Rica 2-2-0 4 GF, 6 GA. Mexico banned from participating in qualifying. So in the last 20 years, only Costa Rica in 1990 has advanced out of group play. The region as a whole has a 4-10-2 record. At the end of the day, there are two teams worth anything in this confederation. Sure there are teams that can be threats on a given night but over the course of a qualification, the other teams just cant sustain it for 10 games. Mexico was struggling after the first half of the hex two years ago and they still qualified with relative ease. Costa Rica was in first place by 3 points at the midway point in 2009 and fell hard. Honduras was pretty consistent but they had a WC berth on their foots against the US and blew it. The 2014 Qualifiers should be interesting to watch though. It looks like Jamaica and Panama will join Honduras and Costa Rica for the last 1.5 spots for Brazil. I have no idea what is going on with Trinidad. They've been bad ever since making the Hex in 2009. And Canada just seems like they cant get anything going for whatever reason.

Hopefully UVA loses so that will complete yet another choke by the ACC. Although I dont think UNC is that good really but they made it somehow. Maybe Jim Morris can start recruiting a little better and Miami can reclaim some of its past glory and bring the ACC some respect in Omaha. Cant expect anyone else to do so. Another thing that bothers me is this stupid teams wearing those old school stirrups. They look like total fools out there.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 11:08 AM) USMNT looked better than they have all tournament. Completely dominated, as they should have. Agudelo played well, sucks about Jozy, hopefully he can come back, we'd probably need him against Mexico. Kljestan shockingly had a very good game as well, can't believe I just typed that. Cherundelo solid once again and Dempsey again showing that he might actually be the best player we have Oh, and the U-17 team beat Czech Republic 3-0 in the U-17 WC yesterday too. A couple really good goals from that game, nothing cheap. Lichaj is turning into a star. Losing Altidore hurts because he was having a nice tournament but I dont think we need him for Mexico as long as Bob continues the 4-5-1, which we probably will because we have to. I watched most of the U-17 game on ESPNU. We had some blasts for the first 2 goals. That first goal from Guido was a thing of beauty. And I loved the stadium we played at yesterday, those lime green seats were pretty awesome.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread

QUOTE (Felix @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 09:21 PM) He's not staying in Europe. There is a 0% chance of that. And saying a guy sucks based on his Europe numbers when he can't even legally drink yet in this country is really f***ing stupid. I'm not saying he's going to be good, and I don't think he's worth the hype that he's gotten from Kahn over the years, but the "Rubio is awful, look at these numbers that don't translate to the NBA at all" camp really doesn't know what they're talking about either. The only thing that concerns me about Rubio is his shooting percentage. He is young so he may still develop into a better shooter. Him averaging 5 points a game doesnt really mean anything. My friend has played in Spain the past two seasons so I've followed it a bit and its a totally different game. More of a team game and you dont see too many players scoring the majority of a team's points. -
I was watching the CBC Hockey Night in Canada intros for the Stanley Cup last night. Would be really awesome if Versus or NBC would try to do something like that one of these days.

After blowing the Philly series, the Bruins started this playoff season by losing their first two games at home and had to go to Montreal. Then battled back from two different 2-goal deficits to win game 4. Then in game 7, they gave up the tying goal with 2 minutes left in regulation. So many times this team could have just folded up and called it a season but they kept fighting and clawing back. Then coming back in this series when just about everyone in the media was ready to crown the Canucks the champs, even though the Bruins could have easily won either/both of the first two games. I've seen every one of my teams win a title in the past 10 years. The Canes,Bucs and Sox were all very dominant in their title game or series. And while I wont pretend and say the Bruins are my favorite team now, I would still rank them 4th out of my teams, I dont think I've ever been more prouder of a team than I am tonight. I am mentally exhausted as a sports fan now.

I'm even more mad that the US didnt win the Gold last year. Vancouver would have burned to the ground if we could have won the Gold.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) BRUINS!!! They did everything in their power to hand Montreal this series. Just stupid penalty after stupid penalty. I'm curious on how they'll break my heart in the next series. My heart has been healed! Such an amazing feeling after watching so many seasons end in frustration and disappointment. In 2004 losing game 7 at home as a #1 seed vs Montreal, losing in OT at home vs Carolina in 2009 and of course last year's collapse. Was pretty cool seeing Vancouver fans applauding Lucic and Thomas during the Cup skate.
-
where is the self pride?? The game is already in hand and youre going to let another player just jab at your face uncontested??
-
Apparently the reason Henrik Sedin keeps falling is because he's playing on 1 leg. That's according to a Vancouver fan though.... One more B's!

"Absolutely not. Because at the end of the day, all the people that was rooting on me to fail, at the end of the day they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today. They have the same personal problems they had today. I’m going to continue to live the way I want to live and continue to do the things that I want to do with me and my family and be happy with that. They can get a few days or a few months or whatever the case may be on being happy about not only myself, but the Miami Heat not accomplishing their goal, but they have to get back to the real world at some point." ---James post game

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 11:25 PM) No. First of all, its hard to be a bandwagon fan before any games have been played.. secondly as I already explained during last summer, I am not a huge NBA fan and have really never had a favorite team outside of following the Bulls when they had Jordan due to my mom and being from Chicago and then following Orlando when they had Shaq and Penny.. I already liked LeBron and Wade as individual players as it is.. So before Jordan came into the league, were you a Celtics or Lakers fan?

the pressure is becoming too much for Miami.

If the Chicago White Sox won a game and no one made a thread

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 07:01 PM) If the Sox weren't out of it a month ago, the Twins aren't out of it now. Time to kick them while they're still down this week. I use to think the Twins were pretty much toast until I saw in the paper today they've played only 24 home games compared to 40 road games. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 12, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) The only silver lining is that US can still advance and hopefully its a wake up call. The PK was the killer because it was a stupid foul by the US. There was no intent to take the guy down, just a sloppy play. sloppy and stupid. The guy from Panama was at the top far corner of the box and going towards the sideline. Just flat out stupid.
-
It is just amazing how often this team plays flat against lesser teams. This team is too complacent and it starts with Bob Bradley. Just hate keeping coaches around for two cycles.
-
Now I know why Mexico hates Panama. All they do is dive. Still pathetic to lose to them. This better be the end of Bob.

link An 8th rounder getting $1M while a guy drafted just a few spots ahead get 125K. Nice agent...
