The Tigers have 13 games left against teams with a winning record. The Sox have 25 games against teams with a winning record. If Detroit plays .500 ball, they'll win 85 games. For the Sox to get to 85 wins, they will need to play .600 ball the rest of the way. That is asking an awful lot for a team with a losing record 117 games in.

I thought the IU coach got suckered into this mess but I also think he could have handled himself a lot better. It was also very unprofessional for the one host to rip IU football moments before having their coach on. The coach is taking time out of his day to be a guest on your show and youre going to talk s***? Low class move. And it did seem like the hosts were looking for a fight after they realized the coach was pissed. One of the parties should have been the bigger person and said something like " We have gotten off on the wrong foot so lets start over......" -

Trainwreck of an interview by the IU football coach and some local show. link -
Lots of people have an high opinion of the Eredivisie when it comes to developing young strikers. So maybe one of those teams will come calling for Agudelo sometime soon. If not, I'd rather see him keep playing in MLS for another 2 years and keep getting minutes.

I know neither team had all their stars and we started out slow but its really a nice feeling right now to know we're moving forward and not stuck in neutral.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 10, 2011 -> 10:52 PM) Steve Smith won't play until midseason at the earliest. Yup, Philly could take the chance in signing him and putting him on the shelf until October. Not a bad signing at all but I wouldnt expect too much. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 06:34 PM) So a group of 10-15 players signing big shoe contracts because their skill set allows them that opportunity is best for the union? What union is this that youre talking about? The Endorsement Union or the NBA Players Union? -

But in the end, I'm willing to bet this was just a ploy by the union in hopes that the owners get worried. And from the way Stern is talking, he and the owners are seeing through it. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 05:41 PM) Is there a players union for people playing in Europe? In either case, they're using the skills and abilities from the NBA to set themselves up with another income. So a group that consists of a 10-15 players going to Europe because their skill set allows them that opportunity is best for the union? -

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 08:54 AM) I'm not sure that makes any sense at all. So if he's sitting around at home, then he has his fellow union members' backs? It's not as if he's skipping out on a picket line. The point is to show solidarity among the players/union. When you have a small group just caring about themselves( the superstars who get European offers) then the other union members will start to split themselves. -

If the Player's Association thinks European teams are going to be rushing to get NBA players then they are going to be in for a shock. I think it weakens the union at the end. The players should be sticking together in this, especially when 80-90% of the NBA guys wont be playing for an international team. How would you feel if you're the 9th guy on the roster and Derron Williams basically says, "Well I'm going to Europe to make money, have fun with this lockout.."? I'd be pissed for him not having my back in this situation and when it comes time to negotiating, I'm not going to feel so bad when the owners want to lower the max contracts. -

The Player's Association should treat any player going overseas to play as Scabs. Those guys are weakening the union and is doing a disservice to those role players who arent going to get opportunities to player elsewhere. -

I dont think there will be many players going overseas this fall outside of foreign born players and some big names that will make a splash. The teams that could afford to pay NBA players in Europe are already selling out their arenas and making money without NBA players. Those clubs arent going to want to deal with the headaches. -

Dunn I cant stand watching a guy strike out 130 times out of 305 ABs.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:37 PM) Sox fans wont come to the park during a rebuild, ownership knows this and thats why you most likely wont ever see the Sox do a complete rebuild. its a Sunday afternoon, against the Red Sox and the Sox are 3 games out of first, and there looks to be plenty of empty seats in the outfield and upper deck. looks like the fans arent coming out now. Friday's attendance was 27k.
