QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 12:05 AM) After a great first 6 hours or so of the tournament, the games since have been dreadful. Only the GMU/Nova game and Memphis/Arizona game had any drama today. Sunday's games should be pretty good. Yeah it has. The First Four was a complete crapfest. Then just about all but 3 games since the afternoon games on Thursday have been pretty one-sided. -
QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) That was a hell of a finish to GMU/Nova Yeah it was. Gus Johnson did his best though to butcher the moment though.

Tressel suspended for the first 5 games now. I guess today is a good day to come out with it and let it be overlooked. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6230308 -
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) I wish they would go to at most a 30 second shot clock. 35 is just far too long. Teams like Wisconsin bore the heck out of me. If the women's game can have a 30 second clock then the men's game should. Also reset the clock at like 20 seconds on non shooting fouls. Kinda like what the NBA does when they reset it to 14. It's possible to have an entire minute of play without a shot occurring.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 07:27 PM) You prove more in 30 games than you do in 4. Conference tourneys are a terrible way to rate teams as better than an entire body of a season. Then do away with conference tournaments. But for so long all conference champs made the tournament. Now they want to have extra games and the NCAA wants to punish the worst teams just so they can find away to add one more team that probably doesnt deserve it. One team did what they had to do to make it and the other didnt. -
QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Mar 9, 2011 -> 11:02 PM) Do you think the bats are coming into play? I just can't believe what I'm seeing. I doubt it. We're hitting like .240 as a team so i'm sure we'll get it up to the .275 range but that is horrible for college baseball. We're very young(we've only been starting 1 guy who isnt a Freshman or Soph due to injuries) right now. Plus a couple of years ago our hitting coach retired and we have this new guy who sucks. Our pitching has been awesome though. Gave up just 3 runs this weekend vs Virginia Tech with our starters going 22 2/3 and only allowing one run. If we can somehow figure out a way to score about 5 runs a game then we'll win a lot more than we'll lose in the ACC.

I think if you win your conference then youre in the tournament. They did what they were asked to do to make the field of 64. The play-in games should consist of the lowest at-large bids. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 05:45 PM) My prediction is that people are bored when Wisconsin plays Belmont.

Am I the only one who is having trouble getting excited for the first weekend of this tournament? I havent considered making a bracket yet and I just glanced at the opening lines. I find the opening weekend of the tournament as exciting as the first weekend of college football and Opening Day. But for some reason I just cant get hyped. I cashed out yesterday after the conference tournaments and I am contemplating if I want to even but forth the effort for this tournament or just wait til baseball starts up again before reloading my account. -

I'm never a defender of the mid major schools but this year I feel really blah about this bracket. I dont know how you can reward teams for being mediocre all because they play in a name conference. Teams like Illinois, Michigan, Michigan St, Penn St and Georgia should not be rewarded for basically winning more games than they lost. I guess when there isnt 68 deserving teams, you've got to fill those spots somehow. -
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) Fedor's not exactly a world-beater anymore either. And Couture doesnt have 50 pounds on Fedor. Fedor may be slipping but he would cave in Couture's face.

AKRON!!!! Good MAC Final. -
QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 08:12 PM) Good. Now Fedor and Couture can finally fight. Why do you want to see Couture die?

My initial reaction is not liking it. Havent really given it much thought but for the sport of MMA, it cant be good when one group owns just about every elite fighter.

The Big East tournament is by far the most entertaining. I also think ND didnt cross the mid court within 10 seconds on the final possession. Could have sworn they got the ball at 27 seconds and crossed at 16 -

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 11:02 PM) Most on the board won't like this, but it's painful for me to watch 90% of the Big 10 games. However, Wisconsin takes the cake for unwatchable basketball for me. Then again the ACC has been awful this year as well. I had Wisconsin -5.5 in the 2H. If you would have told me all they had to do was score 38 points for me to win my bet I would have wagered my life. Wisconsin can eat a dick for all I care. -

Miami seems like they are always good for a win in the ACC Tournament. So I took their team total over 63. I was watching the PBP on the cell and turned it off when they were down 50-39. Few minutes later I get back in the car and I hear it's going into overtime. Unreal. -
What a generic, fluff show. Was bored after 10 minutes.
-
Man, I knew Miami's offense last year was horrible but this year is 100x worse. Batting something like .225 as a team hahaha. Atleast the pitching is really good so maybe if this team becomes average on offense, we'll have a chance to keep the postseason streak intact.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) Speaking of great soccer moments, the Brandi Chastain winner in the world cup. I dont think it would be that memorable if she hadn't taken her shirt off during the celebration.

I actually had Penn winning 29-28. First two rounds to BJ and Fitch in the third. I cant give a guy a 10-8 if he never advances past the guard or if he never comes close to stopping his opponent. I can see how someone would give Fitch a 10-8 so I dont see a problem with it being a draw.

QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Mar 2, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) Oh well. I've been pretty impressed on how FSU has played since the Singletary injury. Any chance he can comeback before the tournament begins? -
QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 2, 2011 -> 06:25 PM) The Cold War was an every day living event. Until 1990, you didn't know if or when you were going to die by the hands of the Soviets and their nukes. This was the ultimate underdog story. It was like a college team defeating an NHL Stanley Cup champion. It was a huge event for America in the propaganda war. That Soviet team had just taken 2 of 3 versus the NHL All-Stars the year before. I would equal it as Gonzaga beating the original Dream Team.
