  1. must be nice to have a closer that can produce uneventful innings.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) Tampa gave up a home game to play in London two years ago. So would that mean the Bears would give up a home game? That would surprise me. No, Tampa Bay will be giving up a home game again. f***ing Glazer family...
  3. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) Just read on Sarah Spain's fb that if this season happens, Bears vs. TB in LONDON f*** that. The Bucs were in London in 2009. Why send them there twice in three years. I know Glazer has ties to England sports but they hate is ass over there. Ridiculous.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) I believe Thornton deserves a solid month until removed from the role. I'm sorry. He's been too good for too long. I just can't believe the 9th inning is that big a difference from the 8th inning. But it is. It's not like the sample size of a new guy trying to close is limited to Thornton. We've seen tons of players all across MLB struggle when thrown into the closer role.
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 11:07 PM) He gave up a leadoff double and then a rocket that luckily went right at Konerko. Then he gave up a bomb to the warning track. He was likely going to blow that game. And he could have easily gotten the third out on the next batter. Might be for the best if Ozzie finally yanks Thornton out from being the closer. I'd rather Thornton be 0-3 in save chances then something like 20-30.
  6. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 11:07 PM) So why are the Pro-Thornton for closer supporters so against letting Santos fill that roll and put Matt back where he's comfortable. I understand the arguments as far as numbers go/bad luck/ etc....but it AIN'T WORKIN'! Because some would rather have their opinion be right then to see this team win games. Thornton was good in the 8th. Might as well try to get some stability in the bullpen and but him back where we know he can succeed.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 11:03 PM) He ran tonight like someone scared of dropping another fly ball, and he almost missed that fly ball completely. Yeah, he didnt drop it, he flat out missed it. He is definitely fighting it out there.
  8. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) The um...leadoff double and the fact that Thornton has been throwing gopher balls all year thus far? Funny Crain had to finish the inning for him. oh ok, so you arent basing it on anything of substance.
  9. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) I was just as mad as you, being that Pierre has done this twice in the last few games...but that said, they were going to tie the game anyway...Thornton as closer is a failed experiment. IMO, that leadoff double was going to score to tie the game regardless of Pierre. and youre basing this off of what....?
  10. Let's trade for Swisher to be our LF and leadoff hitter.
  11. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) Opponents closers have no trouble getting the job done. Another terrible loss. No s***. Must be nice to have a closer who can get 3 up and 3 down without getting hammered.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) Watch it be Lillibridge. lol

  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) It would be nice to oust the most annoying fan base in professional hockey once again. They are already talking about traveling here and needing guns and knives to walk anywhere in the city. I'm a Bruins fan so I would have to say Montreal fans are the most annoying. But it is fun watching Canadian hockey fans get excited about their teams come playoff time even though a Canadian team hasnt won a title in almost 20 years.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 02:57 AM) I think "Mcilroy" just became a verb, as in "I mcilroyed my pants on the back 9" I guess that verb has now surpassed Munson'd.
  16. Who do these Indians think they are right now?
  17. QUOTE (That funky motion @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) I thought Tampa wouldn't try against the Canes. You always try against a divisional foe and the Lightning still have some ties to Tortorella.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) Unfortunately for Maddon hes going back to the clubhouse where hell see the replay and realize it was absolutely the right call. And Dave Martinez rocking the caveman. Kinda like a NBA coach getting a technical just to show he has his players backs. It was funny seeing Maddon mouthing "You f***ed up" to the ump as he was running towards him.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) Noons wasn't top 10 and a 155er, and Santos, Smith, Sakurai, Shamrock, Inoue weren't top 10 either, Daley was obviously top 10. So, he had exciting fights, but his record isn't riddled with top 10 talent lately. If GSP fought a majority of non-top ten talent, often guys who can only potentially beat him in one area, he would have more finishes. As a fan I love Nick as a fighter, but I really want to see him fight some of the elite guys before people start placing him next to GSP, Fitch, etc... Totally agree with that. It's time he moves back to the UFC and see where he is. Nothing left for him to do in Strikeforce and I'm sure he could sell some PPVs over in the UFC.
  20. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) He also finished Serra and BJ since then. I thought his humiliation of Koscheck was quite entertaining as well. Serra isnt close to top 10 and BJ is a 155 pounder.
  21. How do you know Diaz would get mauled? Kos couldnt even maul Daley who has zero ground game. He smothered him like a wet blanket and didnt do a thing for 15 minutes. And Rickson said that in 2008. The game hasnt evolved so much to the point that what he said has no relevance anymore. But I guess in today's MMA where judges see a guy on top of his opponent as an automatic win(ie Jardine getting 4 takedowns and landing a total of 2 punches) for the round you have to fight off the takedown.. But we can get into the judging system some other time. Sure a GSP-Shields fight is more intriguing but its not going to be entertaining. GSP hasnt fought an exciting fight since he got lit up by Serra. Maybe the fight with Hughes where he actually finished someone for a change. But other than that it's just decision after decision.
