  1. Huge win today. Dempsey gets too cute when its not needed that leads to the opening goal. After that though it was just a matter of time before the US scored a couple of goals. Really pushed the action from about the 20 minute mark until the second goal was scored. Mexico lost once again. Going to be real tough next match for the US with Mexico basically playing for their lives. As if playing in Azteca isnt hard enough.
  2. Fullerton might have had the easiest road to Omaha in the history of college baseball.
  3. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 11:43 AM) PS agree on Hendo. Your comment reminded me what a tough dude he is, I almost forgot. He kind of flies under the radar. Just looking at his fight finder is like reading a who's who of MMA. Anderson, Franklin, Renzo, Nog, Wandy, Arona, Ninja, Rampage, Babalu, Newton, Belfort... it just goes on and on. How many future HOF-caliber fighters can you possibly fit into one resume? The only current names he's missing are guys like Shogun, Fedor, Lyoto, Randy, etc. but I think that 3 of those fights could possibly happen. And now that I think of it, I'd be 1000X more interested in Hendo vs. Randy than Nog vs. Randy. I know they used to train together and are probably friends, but he did fight Rampage, and Randy is game, so I really hope that one happens at some point. I still think Randy has another few fights in him. I'd love to see a Henderson/Couture fight at 205.
  4. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 10:06 AM) lol I's find that statement funny too if I knew very little about sports. If you knew anything at all, you'd know that an all-star PG who averaged 17pts/5 assists per game is a big blow to any team.
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 03:47 AM) And the Cavs series was a round ago, yet you brought it up. And the Celtics not having KG is not the same as the Magic not having Jameer Nelson. Sorry. I brought up the Magic shooting in the Cavs series which is different than saying the Magic wouldnt have made it to the past the Celtics if KG was there. And please point out where I said not having Nelson was the same as not having KG. All I was pointing out was both teams were dealing with injuries. And both teams played significant amount of games without those players so the Celtics should have been able to overcome those issues, especially when they were up 3-2 in the series.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 01:56 AM) Orlando doesn't get past a healthy Boston. Not even close. In fact, a healthy Boston team repeats fairly easily, IMO. Orlando was missing a starter too. The Boston series was 2 rounds ago. I dont understand the point in bringing them up now.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 10:54 PM) Well, it'll be hard for Orlando to win many games this series if they shoot 30% from the field. Conversely...It's going to be hard for me to believe Orlando will shoot 30% from the field again this series. True but I dont think the Magic will shoot like they did in the Cleveland series. For as great as Orlando shot in that series, they still were 2 shots away from being home right now. LA just has too many weapons and Orlando wont have any answers for Kobe. I'll be shocked if this series went past 5 games.
  8. I'm pretty sure Kljestan will be out because of yellows. Maybe I misheard the ESPN guy.
  9. talk about just wasting that great road trip. pathetic.
  10. Well that wasnt pretty. 1. Wynne sucks. That couldnt mark the dead guy from Weekend at Bernie's. 2. That first goal shouldnt have happened. Couldnt even clear the ball from the back line which seems to happen a lot. And as usual, Beasley was in the mix. 3. We've been hearing how Onewyu wants out of Belgium since WC06. I know he's big but damn he is slow. Especially looked slow on the turf tonight during the second goal. 4. A win Saturday and we can forget about this game. A win is huge now since the following game will be at Azteca. I expect we'll be seeing a lot more of Adu this Saturday now that Bradley and Sacha is out.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 05:08 PM) I just wish the game didn't start at 10. US hasn't won in Costa Rica in a while IIRC. The stands are pretty much on the field and there is a fence between them. Very, very hostile environment. I'll be happy if they can get a draw. And the field at Saprissa is freaking field turf. A draw would be like a win. Four points in the next two will be golden and basically assure a trip to South Africa.
  12. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 04:46 PM) New Jersey or Delaware I thought now allow you to do it. Alot of the sportsbooks online do indeed funnel the money through a third party financial institution. I know Delaware is in the process of legalizing it but I dont know if its a done deal. I'm sure in the next few years more states will start to legalize it in attempts to bring in more money for the state. I'm sure most gamblers would rather deal with paying a tax on winnings in states where its legal than having to go to offshore sportsbooks and deal with the sometimes shady characters that runs those sites. The third party thing is funny when looking at a credit card statement and you see a charge to a "shoe" company based in the United Kingdom. Or a "bridal shop" in south Florida.
  13. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 07:47 PM) Where can I go to legally make bets on baseball games? I checked with the Hollywood casino in Aurora and they don't do sports betting. Are there places that have legal sports gambling in IL? If so where? Or is it online, and is that legal? Nevada is the only place you can do it legally. Unless you find a casino cruise or Indian casino that offers it. Online is pretty easy to do if you decide to go the Western Union route. Most credit card companies have blocked online sportsbooks so the cards wont work unless the sportsbook funnels the money thru a third party.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) the quality of fighters isn't as good, I'll grant you that, but I'm entertained by it and it's probably necessary so people recognize some of the fighters on the Spike cards. When I watch its really only to see the coaches. Dan Henderson has always been a favorite of mine so this season isnt that bad.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) maybe strikeforce, but i believe the gate and TV ratings for the freak show "super hulk" tournament were good, so Kimbo would have had a good market there. I completely disagree with you about TUF. Was Kimbo offered to be in that tournament? I'm starting to think there wasnt a market for him in Japan or he would be over there right now. I think TUF has run its course. The first few seasons were good but now its just a mess. Mostly average fighters who get drunk and embarrass themselves. There might be a very good fighter that comes thru once in awhile. Mac Danzig ran right thru the TUF cast and he'll be lucky to ever get to "gatekeeper" status.
  16. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ May 31, 2009 -> 05:34 PM) I feel bad for Ohio State. It is 20-0 FSU in the 3rd inning. There isn't a mercy rule in tournament play either. f*** that. I wished your boys wouldve dropped 40 on Ohio State. I love seeing OSU get worked over. That Arkansas series should be fun. I see a lot of runs this weekend in Tallahassee.
  17. What a joke. TUF is already a POS show but this is just comical. I dont think Kimbo is giving up much actually from Strikeforce. Strikeforce already told Kimbo he would have to work his way up. Shoot, Strikeforce is going to have Roger Gracie start in their Challenger Series promotion so I doubt they were giving Kimbo that much.
  18. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ May 31, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) Stone is sarcastic man, love it. He has made a couple of digs at KC the past 2 games. It's pretty funny.
  19. Greinke is due for a bad outing, right?
  20. Nice 9-4 win over Jacksonville today to start things off. It's nice to be able to get 4 scoreless innings out of a weekday starter to start a regional. Southern gave LSU a nice little scare when they took a lead into the 7th before giving up 9 runs.
  21. QUOTE (rangercal @ May 29, 2009 -> 02:08 AM) anyone dogging rose should just go back to their cubicles at their 9-5's and take some more orders from their respective bosses. Rose may not have a high IQ due to having the misfortune of a cps education in horrible low budgeted areas. Just be thankful you never had to go through a similar ordeal. While you are in your respective cubicles taking orders, let him show his gift to the world, basketball. That's all I really care about. Might be one of the dumbest posts in soxtalk history.... And that is saying a lot.
  22. I really would like to see how the selection comittee decides on these regional pairings. That Fullerton Regional is a joke. So is the LSU Regional. The Texas Regional is pretty weak but not as bad as the other two. Last my Canes were the number 1 overall and got stuck with Ole Miss and Missouri. Yes they went 3-0 but there is zero consistency in the selection process every year.
  23. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 27, 2009 -> 01:31 AM) I'm not going to say this series is over because if Dwight Howard gets another technical foul, he's going to get a 1 game suspension. If he were to get it in Game 5 and the Cavs win, they go back to Orlando without Howard and have a much better chance to win, and force a game 7. This is all hypothetical, but another technical for Howard can certainly happen. I would be throwing every player on the bench after Howard in Game 5 in hopes in drawing that technical. I dont see the Cavs losing Game 5 so I wish we could just fast forward to Game 6.
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 27, 2009 -> 01:02 AM) the Super Hulk tournament was just stupid, JZ wasn't ready for that level of competition coming off his injury and Kid put up a stinker... not the greatest card ever Mousasi had another great performance. Kinda excited to see him vs Belfort in August on the Affliction card. Mayhem really screwed up the main event. I was looking forward to seeing him get worked. Canseco actually tried to fight which was nice. It as long as everyone expected but atleast he tried. That Sokodjuo ending was pretty wild. Thats why refs need to take the Big John approach and basically tackle the top fighter when ending a fight.
