  1. Bummer, he was absolutely tearing it up in AAA, thought he could be a good #5/decent #4 in the near future. Anyone know where I can follow his stats in Japan?? Based on his numbers this year i dont think this will be the last we see of Terry Doyle in America.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 09:01 AM) The guy is buried on the depth chart. Think about where he is in terms of starting pitching for the Sox. You've got the Chicago starters Peavy, Danks, Sale, Humber, and Floyd. Quintana has put himself in the conversation. Axelrod has already made time up here, and is on the 40 man roster. You'd have to imagine Stewart is ahead of Doyle simply from his call up last year, and being on the 25 man roster now. Simon Castro might even be ahead Doyle as he is on the 40 man roster, same with Molina and Hernandez (assuming his injury isn't big). That puts Doyle somewhere between 9th and 12th in the starters. Plus it isn't just the Sox. All of MLB has had shots at the kid, and no one seems to want him. I still don't see any word on the move to Japan, can someone link me??...I'd say right now he's behind Q who was handed a start and ran with it. He's pitched better than everyone else in the minors you've listed.
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 13, 2012 -> 12:51 AM) I saw a brief liner from some random website, but that's about it. Very curious time for him to decide this. After almost throwing a no-hitter, and having a great season. I figured he would wait until he struggles enough, or maybe until after the trade deadline to see if he gets moved anywhere. His 2nd near No No this year... Hope its not true as I am still failing to see the AAAA label Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what Doyle did in his first 2 spring training games?? I just see the line from his last game where he gave up 8 in 2/3 of an inning. Just read that there was a play that should have been made to limit some of the damage.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 01:24 PM) He's 26. If you say he's not ready to be on the roster now, I don't know what you're arguing. By your own admission, he's not ready yet. Yes he's 26 but he's only spent 4 years in the minors. Jake Peavy spent 4 years in the minors. Gavin Floyd 6 years John Danks 4 years I said he wasn't ready to make the bigs out of spring training. His past 10 starts he's 6-2 66 IP 37 hits 16 walks 64 Ks with a 2.05 ERA and a .165 BAA I know he won't post those numbers in the bigs but it sure looks like he should be in the convo of making a few starts in the bigs
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) Didn't the Twins have to put him on the 40 man if the wanted to keep him? They had to keep him on the 25 man roster...the whole year...he wasnt ready for that
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) If the Twins saw anything in him, they would have kept him. this is a throw away year for them. Holding on to one overmatched guy for a year if he is a fit down the road would have been worth it to them. The entire rest of MLB felt the same way. He was the 2nd pick of the Rule 5 draft so the only other team that felt the same way that we know we're the Astros I dont know if you've noticed but the Twins bullpen is actually pretty solid
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2012 -> 08:10 AM) He was given a chance to make the team with the Twins in Spring training or be lost back to the White Sox, and he couldn't even make the Twins bullpen. He put up an ERA of 16+ in his few A game appearances. I won't be mad if he gets a chance to perform with the Sox this year, and I'll be thrilled if he comes out and has success, but understand, guys like this are a dime a dozen. We have 2 or 3 of them every year, guys who are now old for AAA but put up decent numbers for that league. Occasionally they turn into a useful bullpen piece or even a starter. But in terms of trade value...they're not worth anything until they seriously prove something at the big league level. You can find the equivalent of a Doyle on the waiver wire at least a dozen times during the year. If you want him to have legit trade value, then you need to put him at the big league level and give him 10-20 starts to see if his AAA performance is anything real. Of course, if it isn't, then you're costing yourself a shot at the division. He never pitched above AA when he went into spring training. It's very possible he wasn't ready for the bigs yet. With his walks way down in AAA from years past I don't see anything that screams AAAA to me.
  8. Soriano to 2B Beckham to 3B!!! make it happen Ya no thank you
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 11:52 PM) Doyle is a 26+ year old AAAA player. Why though? Do explain...
  10. Serious Question. (no ones answered me yet) Why aren't people talking about Terry Doyle?? Yes, any team could have had him I know that. Minnesota took a chance at that and he had a bad Spring...So what. I know its the Twins but they were taking a chance on carrying a pitcher who never pitched above AA the whole year, they must have seen something in him. Terry Doyle right now ranks... 2nd in wins...7th in ERA...6th in IP...3rd in SO...2nd in Whip ...in the International League What more do you want from a guy who has been good at every level he's been to?? Axelrods up there in the rankings too. --- As far as the Headley trade goes.. I forgot the Pads got Grandal in that Latos deal too, so they wouldn't want Tflow.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 05:09 PM) I don't think that's anywhere near what the Padres will be asking for Headley. Add some lower level prospects and i dont see why not...Headleys not a exactly superstar and Tflow and Axelrod can both become immediate starters IMO
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 05:00 PM) Going with two of Quintana, Doyle, & Axelrod is a terrible idea if you're trying to compete. If theyre better than Phil and Gavin who cares who they are....What do Axe and Doyle have left to prove in the minors?? QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 05:01 PM) No way San Diego is going to make a deal that inovlves them taking on like $10 million in salary over the next 2 years. Re read what I said....I said not for Floyd... Axe/Doyle and TFlow/Phegley is what I said for Chase. Past Youk I cant see a trade that would get us a 3B for Floyd
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) Serious questions: 1. Name a team and their 3b who would want floyd. Are you talking Youkilis? I'll admit, I'm starting to warm more to that idea, but still don't like it much. 2. How many more bad starts will it be before teams decide that Floyd is busting and might not be a good acquisition? Honestly now that I look at it I'm not really sure who sans Youk works....For Floyd anyway. Headley would make sense but not for Floyd. Maybe one of Axe/Doyle and Tflow/Phegley might work for SD. A pipe dream would be Mike Olt from Texas but I can't see that happening without Tank being involved.
  14. Axelrod and Doyle have been dominating in the AAA...why not trade Floyd for a 3B and go with Sale-Peavy-Danks-Q-Doyle/Axelrod??? Over their last 10 games Doyle has a 2.05 ERA and a sub 1 whip while Dylan has 2.71 ERA (which includes back to back games of giving up 5 & 7 runs) and a Whip barely above 1. Whats left for them to prove in AAA???
  15. QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 04:53 PM) It would be a minor replacement, but demote Stewart to AAA and bring up either Doyle or Axelrod. Live with Hudson at 3b until the end of June and see what you have from there. Humber/Floyd ??? Don't even know. If Humber doesn't have any options, move him to the pen until he gets his act together. Floyd, IMHO, is still trade bait. No thank you to the bolded, I still think both can be a starter in the near future, dont waste them as a long reliever. Whats Phegley been doing recently?? I know he was tearing it up this year early on in the season..Does he have any trade value?? Or would you trust him as a backup and deal Flowers?? The Pirates are in the thick of things and look like they could use a catcher and a lefty set up guy. What about Thornton/Gavin/Phegley (or flowers if needed) for Bedard/specs??
  16. Isnt Durant a really good defender? Why wouldnt he be on Lebron?? I haven't really noticed his D in real life but he sure does win Defensive POY in NBA2k12 a lot lol
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 01:15 AM) Except by that line of thinking, DJ Carasco should have been named a starting pitcher, or Tony Pena. There's a big difference pitching in blowouts when the other team is often looking to catch a flight out of town or make their dinner plans, compared to the pressure of starting a game against a good major league team. There's really no comparison. It would be like saying you could take Wil Ohman and he would be a better starter than Humber because his ERA is lower, too. It's much more instructive to look at Stewart's body of a work as a starter last year in the majors or as a starter even in spring training, as opposed to extrapolating any type of positivity out of him being a member of the starting rotation anywhere but Charlotte or Birmingham right now. To clarify my argument had nothing to do with Zach going to the rotation nor was I really saying Zach is better than Phil. Basically what my point is, is that MLB long relievers are not good so quite crying about Stewart giving up a run or 2 in a game thats out of reach and when Phils the Long reliever and gives up some runs dont b**** then either (not you specifically)
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:01 AM) The difference is that: 1) Humber does a big strikeout pitch in his curve 2) first half 2011, ASG, history of a pretty extended run of success, etc. 3) perfect game 4) pedigree as a starter, Top 5 pick in the draft 5) his ERA as a starter against all teams not named the Twins last year was much better than 7.88, his ERA this year despite how bad he's been is nowhere close to that QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 11, 2012 -> 12:20 AM) Humber is perhaps equally as bad as Zach Stewart? Oooohhh, come on now. First and foremost as my last post said I am for Humber in the pen over Stewart. But for the sake of argument... Take out the perfect game this year and Phils ERA/Whip are at 6.75/1.69 Take out Zachs game vs the Cubs and his ERA/Whip are 3.58/1.47 So if neither of those games happen from looking at the numbers yes Zach has been better.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 10:01 PM) Sarcasm, I hope. If you've followed my thoughts on Zach Stewart as long reliever you will know this is indeed sarcasm. If everyones so fed up with having Zach Stewart as the long man then why replace him with a perhaps equally as bad Humber? I will agree though that in the situation the Sox are in it does make sense to put Q in the rotation and have Humber replace Zach. Zachs still fairly young and could benefit from getting more time in the minors. I just fear (well not really) I'll be hearing the same kind of things about Humber that I have about Zach when he comes in in a a blowout and gives up a run or 2 "Phils 100% garbage DFA him NOW"....
  20. He also was an All star last year so he obviously has it in him...somewhere
  21. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 09:21 PM) I'm so done with Zach Stewart. But I think Quintana has earned the spot over Humber in the rotation, so push Humber to long relief. Move a s***ty pitcher into long relief??? thats crazy talk, long relievers are supposed to be good pitchers.
  22. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 05:28 PM) I loveeeeeeeee fan trade scenarios I have very little faith in Bulls management ever being "creative" vs. conservative Here ya go sleepy. Watson and Omer to GS for #30 Korver and #29 to Bos for #21 Brewer to Por for #41 or 42 Boozer, Deng and #30 and Por pick to CHA for T2, Maggette, Diop and #2 Barnes or Gilchrist at #2 D. Lamb at #21 Hinrich/Lucas (Rose) Rip/Lamb Barnes/Butler/Maggette Taj/T2 Noah/Diop Bobcats get better so you might get their pick next year.
  23. How many teams are 7-8 deep in the pen?? You guys want to much out of a LONG RELIEVER...He's not gonna be in there when the game matter so who cares if he's not tearing it up coming out of the pen....On the other hand with the emergence of JQ I wouldnt mind moving him into Phils spot and Phil to Zachs spot....But then all thats gonna do is have people hear making the same remarks about Phil....
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 10, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) game thread. where is it I assume we're waiting for whoever won yesterday??? cutting it hella close
