2011-2012 NBA Season Thread

Since I have nothing better to do and this is entertaining my simple mind... What about trading Noah to a team like Portland that only has 25 mill on the books for next year. Realistically they can trade picks for Noah straight up with no players involved right?? They have 2 top 12 picks this year, grab one of those and a future 1st (if that makes sense). You can then trade or amnesty Boozer. I think CJ can be traded to the Warriors for one of their picks. I love the idea of bringing in Hinrich as the MLE....why i dont know. Go Perry Jones, John Jenkins, and Tony Wroten in the draft 2012 aka the tanking. Hinrich/Wroten Rip/Jenkins Brewer/Butler Taj/ Jones Pau/Kurt Thomas 2013 Rose/Wroten Ellis/Jenkins ..... or Harden or Martin Butler/2013 DP Taj/Jones Pau/Mirotic -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 11:28 AM) You were already only at $5 mil in space with Taj off the roster. Again, Rose+Gasol+Noah+draft picks eats up over $50 million. They're way over the cap because Rose and Noah's extensions hadn't kicked in yet when they signed Boozer. You can go over the cap to keep your own players, but they still count against your cap figure. The salary cap of $58 mil (varies) really only matters when you're trying to sign free agents, which is pretty important here. Edit- Balta's last part didn't include Noah. So you'd have Rose, Gasol, and either Taj/filler or SG/less filler. Gotcha, once again just trying to kill time and make sense of a Pau trade. Its entertained me with no Sox game for 48+ hours. -

That last post was going off the bolded statement in the quote that said the bulls could resign Taj, Butler, and still have around 5 mill for Martin... From that statement I figured theyd have around 10 if they didnt sign Taj....Once again I will admit I have no idea about the cap situation in the NBA. How we're they allowed to be 11 mill over the cap this year?? -

Does this mean anything for Cespedes? Already thinking about dropping him in my money league due to the whole change in bat grip. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2012 -> 08:21 AM) That still doesn't work. If the Bulls are sitting there with Noah + Rose + Pau's contracts on the books, they are simply no where near able to offer a free agent contract. Ditto Rose + Noah + Deng Those 3 alone come to $44 million, with the cap being at $56-$58 million. Pau is even worse than Deng in this regard, Pau + Rose is nearly $40 million. Throw in keeping Taj, Butler and anyone else for maybe >$5 million a year, and the Bulls would only have $5 mil or less to offer Martin. I have them signing him next year Knocking out resigning Taj, which I had at 5 mill, plus the 5 mill you said they might have for Martin...10 Mil should get one of the free agent sgs next year if they're more about winning a championship than the $$. I'll also add that Im pulling this all out of my ass since the only $$ I'm looking at is the figures on the NBA trade machine. Just trying to kill time before the Sox game. -

Blah, ya I didnt notice that right now they're 11 mill over the cap....Now a Pau trade doesnt make much sense to me. Rose+Pau+Cap relief to sign a GOOD sg > Rose+Deng+Boozer Rose+Pau+Cap relief to sign a mediocre sg What if they let Taj walk and go with the below for 2013?? Rose/2012 DP .....Or dare I say lil Johnny Lucus?? Martin/2012 DP Butler/2013 DP Pau/Mirotic Noah/2013 DP DP= Draft Pick....That 2012 SG DP id go with a SG capable of playing SF and use this coming up season as a position battle between him and Butler for the starting SF position the following year....If both fail they should still have their MLE. #IHaveNothingBetterToDo -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2012 -> 05:31 PM) Pau is significantly better then Boozer. However, I don't understand such a deal without being able to move Boozer for a SF. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 29, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) Oops. My bad. But still, my question remains. Who can we get for Boozer that has a similar contract, but is a semi-productive SF? I know I've thrown my 2 cents in a few times on the subject but something else popped up now. In my previous 2 posts I mentioned my desire to get back a SF with an expiring contract failing to realize the Bulls already have 2 of them on the team...Korver and Brewer...If they cant make a good trade for Boozer, amnesty him.... Lets say someone signs him for 8 mill so the Bulls save 8 mill, take that 8 plus Korver, Brewer, and CJs 13 mill combined for a total of 21 mill for 2013. That money could give them enough to get a SG like Curry, Ellis,Martin, or Harden should any become free agents and Taj Gibson. Lets say the Pau deal is for Deng, Asik, and Korver or Brewer (maybe future picks as well)....Trade CJ to Golden State for one of their 4 picks, either 30 or 35... Draft John Jenkins and Tony Wroten... Use the MLE on Hinrich, and get a league minimum big for the year. Hinrich/Wroten Rip/Jenkins Brewer/Butler Pau/Taj Noah/ Big Year after that when Rose comes back (I know he might come back late next year) Rose/Wroten Martin/Jenkins (Just used martin as an example) Butler/Rookie (Yes I believe Butler can be a starter in the league) Pau/Taj Noah/Mirotic ...Or somethin like that... -

Sale is more than likely gonna have an innings cap so you send Q down and set him up to take over when Sale gets closed down....If Axelrod or Doyle continue to look like major league SPs in AAA at the deadline then maybe the Sox can move Gavin for some 3B help..

It'll get lost in the playoff talks but I dont wanna lose the thought. Has anything ever been said about the relationship between Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer? Why I ask is if Deron would be happy playing with Boozer in Brooklyn if they cant get Howard then they might give up Gerald Wallace for Booze. But then you get Dallas, another team that wants D-Will, on the phone and you tell them you can have him for that #17 pick, Shawn Marion, and Lamar Odom. Those expiring contracts and the #17 pick really set this team up nicely for the future and with Rose out thats what the should do, build towards 2013. This of course would happen after a Pau trade. -
He needs to stay down there for a couple weeks at least. If he looks competent during that span and Hudsons no longer having good abs like he has been then I wouldnt be opposed to bringing him back. Right now it sure is refreshing to have O-dog down there in the 9 hole working counts and not aggravating the hell outta me like "cant hit" brent

Unbelievable they knocked out DeAza there. f***ing unreal. There should be a brawl today which will mean a couple sox suspensions. Which with how hot this team is no thank you, unless the bench guys do the bashin lol

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 29, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) Oops. My bad. But still, my question remains. Who can we get for Boozer that has a similar contract, but is a semi-productive SF? The artist formally known as Artest? Kinda kidding, a Pau/Metta for Boozer/Deng does match salary wise and makes sense for the Lakers tho. Same could be said for expiring contract like Richard Jefferson, Hedu, or somethin like Boozer/Brewer for Marion/Odom I'd actually really like that last idea, get the # 17 pick out of them too, even if it means giving up a Omer. Trade Deng/Watson/future picks for Pau trade Korver for another pick (for sake of argument lets say one of bostons 1st rounders, #23) Use the MLE on Hinrich Going off this draft I'm looking at they can then go... SG Doron Lamb Kentucky at #17 PG Marcus Teague Kentucky or C Fab Melo Cuse at $23 C Henry Sims Georgetown or PG Scott Machado Iona at #29 This gives you Hinrich/Teague (Hinrich gets to mentor another Teague) Rip/Lamb/Butler Marion/Butler/Odom Pau/Taj/Odom Noah/Sims/Yaj somethin like that or do you huys think the amnesty of Boozer would save them enough money to sign Nicolus Batum?? -
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 21, 2012 -> 01:29 AM) Nice post, but this is what drives me crazy about the Sox. It does look like the Sox have a contender on paper. But the home record (I know, it's beaten into the ground) and the bullpen wackiness - Crain was one bomb from being a total goat today with the 3 walks - makes me skeptical. Also we won today with three home runs and good pitching, again, THE ONLY WINNING FORMULA for this team. So if you could guarantee me we'd be hittting a ton of home runs in games in the Cell, which we don't and if we could get consistently good bullpen work (which frankly we haven't for 2 plus seasons now) I might believe. Sorry if I'm a bad fan for not jumping on board. Bullpen ERA since this post 1.47 Since this post theyve won a few without THE ONLY WINNING FORMULA 14 HR on the 6 game home stand. Are you not entertained?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 29, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) Can someone please explain why the Bulls keep getting linked to Pau Gasol in some sort of Deng + extra player package? Why on earth would the Bulls do this? Gasol is Boozer with a slightly better defensive game. No thanks. First and foremost let me say I'm against the deal if Dengs involved. But If its a 3 team deal and they can move Boozer for a SF or if the amnesty of Boozer means they can sign a good SF then I'd be for it...A Pau and Noah front court would be awesome! 2 legit 7 footers that are both great passers. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 29, 2012 -> 12:40 PM) Ask him how they will finish 4th. He does realize that Kansas City and Minnesota are awful right? You don't somehow have a garbage team when you have the 2nd best run differential in the AL after 48 games. That just doesn't come out of thin air, you have to be doing something right. The Sox are 4th in the AL in runs per game and tied with the Yankees. Yeah, the Yankees. They're 5th in team OPS. They have the 5th best ERA+ and they're 6th in runs allowed. The Cubs? They're averaging a whole run less than the Sox on offense, good for 3rd to last in the NL. Their team ERA+ is the 4th worst in the NL. So you have one team that's in the upper third of almost every offensive/pitching category in the stronger league and then you have another that's in the lower 4th of everything in the weaker league. Ask him to enlighten you how both teams are somehow in the same garbage echelon. Please tell him to do some research before he speaks again. Have you seen the posts I make on this board lol trust me ive gone there with all of the above. Hes a hard headed cubs fan, a fellow rugby player whos gotten knocked out a few too many times id say....I can and will argue till no end on why I believe this team is a playoff team.
