QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 4, 2015 -> 12:25 PM) Is there really a limit as to how much a team can offer an UDFA? Aren't they basically just like any FA or no? And to clarify on my last post, yes that cap is also on individual players. I believe it's 500k. I know UDFAs are eligible for extension after 2 years, so I wonder if they can work in some clause gaurenteeing him that extension if he stays out of trouble and is a starter. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 4, 2015 -> 12:19 PM) How does UDFA work? This seems to be where the Bears would need to hit hardest to pull in some potential talent. Makes sense if there is a pool of money they can spend. There's a cap on what they can spend, fairly certain every team has the same cap. Bears still have a need at OT so hopefully that means something to Collins. Though I'm sure other teams have a need as well. Wonder if he and Ego are friends, that could give the Bears a leg up. -

QUOTE (shipps @ May 4, 2015 -> 09:10 AM) I am done with predicting what the Bears will do in the draft. I thought they would find a way to get a pick or two more than they had...they didnt do that. I thought they would go heavy on defense...they didnt do that. I thought they would get one of the edge rushers in a draft that was heavy on talent at edge rusher...they didnt do that. I'm not real surprised by any of this. I think they wanna see what they already have at few positions on the defensive side of things. Honestly, I think they could be a top 15 D...but that could just be blind faith in this new staff. -

Oh hey, that last quote looks like my signature. I don't wanna get into this whole Robin thing though. It's an unwinable argument. -

I like Langford, just didn't see the need. I wouldn't be surprised if Fangio and Donatell do the same thing they did with Jimmie Ward to Amos, and that's make him a nickel CB. He was really good in coverage. Not sure if the link will work because Im apparently bad at tableting but here's a good little write up on Amos..... https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/...g-to-work-with/ Says he lined up over the slot a lot and QBs had just a 13.0 NFL passer rating throwing his way. -

Im hoping they take a chance on Clemmings. Yes he has a foot issue right now, but its the 4th round and the Bears aren't winning anything this year anyway so he can be brought along slowly. That or if they are thinking about kicking Long outside, Tre Jackson would be nice to plug in at OG. Darryl Williams is probably better than Jordan Mills so Id. consider him as well. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 1, 2015 -> 06:54 PM) I am ok with the pick he is a 2 down run stopper player. I'd honestly put him out there for 3 downs. He wont offer a pass rush but he will free up the pass rushers. I like the pick. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 1, 2015 -> 12:47 PM) The word is ADHD, which affects his decision making. The question is whether he can handle being a pro, and not being within a college system that can manage him. What's interesting is I'm reading that ADHD should actually help athletes. www.forbes.com/sites/dalearcher/2014/07/16/how-adhd-puts-athletes-in-the-zone EDIT... Though reading further it appears that, while they may excel from an on the field aspect, learning the defense and game planning could be a problem -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 1, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) Judging solely on how they looked on the field in college, I would easily rate Green - Beckham number 1 WR in the draft. I would have waited on drafting a wr to grab him if he checks out, and would still grab him later on in the draft after using a number 1 on a wr. The problem again being he's a headcase. How bad would it have looked to trade B for being a headcase of sorts only to replace him with DGB? -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 1, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) What are the character issues? I thought the biggest concern were whether he could handle the rigors of football. I know all of the reports have been "vague" outside of his pot issue, however, I don't know that it takes the extreme of character concerns. Did he have off the field issues involving violence, etc? Perhaps it shouldn't be lumped into character concerns, but from what I gathered he has some mental problems. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 1, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) Aaron Leming tweeted that Bears covet Randy Gregory on Day 2. With all Fox and Pace have said about character I'd be a little surprised if they took Gregory. I for one would like to wait a bit on OLB. Bears have McPhee as a lock starter there. Then you have Allen, Young, Bass, Jones, SMC, and apparently Houston all getting looks at the other spot. Add in a mid round draft pick to the mix and I think one of those guys can be the starter. The more I think about it, I want one of the OTs. I think right now Mills is the weak link on this team, and Fisher/Donovan Smith/Clemmings all match up as BPA meeting a need. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 1, 2015 -> 12:02 PM) That is a horrifically high bust rate when you look at that list. That said, people seem to think receivers are built to adjust much easier now than even 3-4 years ago. We shall see though. The rules for CBs that changed not too long ago is the reason for that. A trade down would have been nice, I can agree with that, but I don't see how White could be considered a risky pick. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 1, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) Except for the Chargers traded up 2 spots for a RB. If Kevin White is as spectacular and a cant miss as some are portraying him, there certainly had to be a team willing to give up something for the chance to draft him. I mean the Falcons traded 5 picks (including 2 firsts) for the 6th pick to take Julio. Not saying the Bears would get all of that, but Im sure there were offers. The problem there is this is a really deep WR class. Yes, White is clearly a cut above the rest but are you gonna give up a big package when you can still get a pretty good WR down where you're already at? -

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 1, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) I really hope Paul Dawson falls to the Packers. I hope there is a run on OT and WR or something. What are your thoughts on Randle in the first? To me that was the biggest head scratcher of round 1. Most places saw him as a 3R pick. Wasnt HHCD and Burnett a pretty good duo for you guys too? -

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ May 1, 2015 -> 10:02 AM) Which Collins do you like? Landon I guess , but I have my preferred picks in order. Not a big fan of his and I am comfortable with Rolle/Mundy for this year but hes an obvious BPA pick and could be the starting SS for years to come. Might even prefer Fisher to Collins but it was a toss up. -

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 1, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/drafttracker That's a great site to see who's still available. Landon Collins Eli Harold Jalen Collins Eddie Goldman Eric Rowe Eric Kendricks Jake Fischer Randy Gregory Owamagbe Odighuzuwa Paul Dawson Denzel Perryman Bernardick McKinney Names I would definitely target at 39. Bears should at least get 1 more starter tonight. Would not be surprised if they landed another 2 starters tonight either. Give me Goldman, Kendricks, Collins, or Fisher (or Jordan Phillips). -

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 08:55 PM) So Ryan Pace and John Fox are going ALL IN on Jay Cutler again? Did they not notice the scattered bodies they had to step over to get this job? Oh well, the Bears will find a new group of stooges to try and make it work with Cutler in a few years. What does drafting a WR have to do with Jay Cutler? The last 2 years Adam Gase had 3 good WEs and a good TE. Now he has that here in Chicago. -

I can dig it. The defense has a lot of guys who could be good making the transition to the 3-4 under Fangio. Get the offense back to the 2013 level, and see what those defensive guys can bring to the table. Hell I'd like to see them go OT in the 2R. -

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 02:02 PM) It kinda burns me that De Aza has had some success with them. That lineup doesn't scare me though. Hopefully they got all their hits out of the system yesterday. De Aza is hitting .228 with 4 RBI. He had some success last year, but it really shouldn't surprise anyone, he had some success here as well.
