  1. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) I only got 1 reply when I posted it last month. Not sure people are interested. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55116 well...people are cowards.
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) Director commentary fit everything together. I don't know your interpretation, but I believe Gyllenhal avoiding the airliner's engine tampered with the natural order of the universe. He was supposed to die, and because he avoided death, the entire fabric of time was at stake. A common belief I hear people mention is the entire film was merely a prophetic dream, and Gyllenhal smiled in his bed because he may have been relieved it wasn't real. I'm going to be rather prophetic myself right here and guess you bringing Donnie Darko is entirely due to the latest XBOX360 commercial featuring the REM song. I can't be the only one who heard it during the promo for "Gears of WAr" and immediately thought of the movie. yeah, I was in a movie watching mood tonight after the gym, so I threw it in. (subconsciously the xbox commercial made me watch the film and not buy the game...better luck next time microsoft) I had never watched the director's cut. It made the movie 30 minutes longer, and there were a lot of great scenes. The director's cut included snippets from the book Donnie was reading, and the very last page it showed focused on this line "Some of the people who were living in the divergent world will not remember it happened." (my paraphrase) That totally opened my eyes to the "Mad World" segment where the actors are responding to their "dreams" they just had. Some of them remember what happened and some of them don't. I remember the official website being very interesting, fwiw. Great movie.
  3. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:44 PM) I use www.emigrantdirect.com and very much enjoy the 5.05% APY I'm getting. Not bad for a savings account. very nice. I have 5.00% on my checking (3.00% after the new year) and 4.65% on my savings... univest.net it's amazing to see these products pop up. Even traditional banks (brick and mortar) are getting in on the action. Interestingly enough, it's mostly to retain what they're losing, but there are untapped markets beyond the typical service area of any given bank, that these banks now see as viable. it's great news for the consumer.
  4. any takers on forming a league? I think this would be hilarious for some of us at soxtalk to do.... Fantasy Congress if you're interested PM me.

    ING Direct

    anyone use their services?? not me, I'm getting a better rate somewhere else. Just curious, because they've blown up the banking industry in the last 1-2 years.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) Don't say stupid s*** that makes you sound like a prick - your word, admit you said stupid s*** that makes you sound like a prick, then act surprised when someone agrees with you. Steff is like an Ice Cream Cone when you trip over the cat.... ALL UP IN YO' FACE!
  7. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) pitchforkmedia, pfft. doucheforkmedia....
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) At the old job I never got docked. I know it was mainly because of tenure. I was out more than 15 days the month Joey was born and in the hospital and until his passing and never was charged with a sick or vacation day. that would be similar to how my employer would handle your situation... which is why I'm going to be staying with them for a long time. That's a "family first" mentality that I like.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) Its brilliant insites like this that make some1 a moderator. and brilliant inSIGHTS that make Texsox, texsox
  10. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) i'll totally call in sick even if i'm not. thats just how i roll. mr_genius....more like mr_badass....
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) Ahhh....the beauty of not proofreading my post. I wrote it in backwards for whatever reason in my post but on the test I answered it right. And I'm glad my grammar is the butt of all your jokes...thank god I'm an accountant and not a writer. you don't need to spell right to father my children..... what???

    I have this really cool invention called a "PC" that allows me to do everything this "PS3" you've described does... plus it comes with free naked ladies...
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) Good luck with that. I'd stick close to daddy for the best odds. Who says they can't? Healthy people who take care of themselves also get sick, no? Smoke breaks are a joke, but if you read your employee handbook it likely says in there somewhere that you are entitled to 2 15 minute breaks a day. Smokers should be timed, IMO, and when their 30 minutes are up.. docked. Those who don't smoke should take full advantage of those 15 minute breaks also. Most at my current company sit in the lunchroom and watch tv or walk outside in the park behind the office building. I think non-smokers should get discounts on Health Benefits...likewise for Gym frequenters. I know that's not the end-all of health, but my unscientific guess would be that smokers and sedentary individuals have a higher rate of visiting their health care provider than the previously mentioned. thoughts? (I know that's a major hijack, but steff brings up a good point)
  14. These are the funniest ones I can find... They're really quotable and fun. I'm not a DC apologist, I just appreciate his humor. I'll take Patton Oswald on HBO ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. "This is Tom Carvel of Carvel Ice Cream Stores...just in time for the Timothy McVeigh Verdict..." Burger King "and the pickels....and sweet and sour sauce all over my body" DMV "In the Future everything will be instant...." Envy of a Snake "Ohhh, why not me?!?!" Round of Applause "She's not clapping!"
  15. Has anyone seen Donnie Darko (I'm sure)... has anyone seen Donnie Darko Director's Cut? The former is hard to understand....the latter makes MUCH more sense... that could be because I've seen the movie 6-7 times, though.
  16. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) Haha! It's funny because it's backwards. thank you for the clarity
  17. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Who cares about the cup, she's talking to a black guy!!! that's the closest he's getting to that Bush...
  18. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Wha??? If you're suggesting what I think you're suggesting, no, I'm just with Ali G on this one. Total respek, I gots lots of their videos. i wasn't calling you gay... I was just saying you'd rather see action than the scenery... (motion rather than the goods) (LumberJacks rather than forest critters) I have no idea what i'm talking about think about what you just wrote... a bunch of dudes hooting and hollering about two chicks getting it on. I'll give you time to chill.
  19. wow, imagine that... people disagree about comedy. If you think Dane Cook is the funniest man alive, then ok. He has some of the funniest bits I've ever heard. If you think Dane Cook is the worst comedian alive, then ok. He has some of the biggest bombs out there too. The part of the article which I disliked most was in reference to "So where's the joke"? That's the kind of shortsightedness that probably happened when people stopped telling knock knock jokes and moved on to puns... Life is funny. Exaggerations are funny. Stories are funny. Sounds are funny. AMERICA'S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS is funny. Lighten up and laugh...especially Rolling Stone Magazine=the saddest bastards in the world, followed by Pitchforkmedia.
  20. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) I don't care how nice your furniture is, whatever they do on that table will be more interesting, nekkid or no. so you're a "roll over so I can stick it in" guy? (an actual quote from BBM)
  21. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) I just started my job and after my probationary period is over, I start to accrue time beginning in January. I get 18 days of PTO my first year and 11 holidays where the office is closed. Pretty frickin sweet. what field do you work in, if I may ask?
  22. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) Ellison was elected by his constituency. They know he's a Muslim and they still elected him. End of story. As has been said before, this country is based on freedom. If he wants to swear using a Quran, let him do that. And Lieberman swore on a Bible, the original...cuz we all know the sequel is never as good as the original. They also elected Jesse Ventura knowing he was a WWF wrestler...so their judgment is still in question
  23. You paid attention during 100% of high school! 85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap! That's right MFers....
  24. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Nov 13, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) So raw too. I'm sorry what?
