QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 6, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) Please, Haggard preached hatred in the name of the Lord to thousands of people. Hell yeah, I'm laughing when his hypocritical ass fell from grace. Around here, I preach pacifism and acceptance to tens of avatars. You can be the first one to laugh at my fall from grace when I start war mongering with an army of queers as my frontline. Deal? no, I'm not in the profession of laughing at people when they end up doing what people do best.... pride, fall, and then restoration. I'm not trying to be holier than thou, trust me. I've done this in the past, and it made me realize it was worthless. Perhaps the guy is a hypocritical douche, but like i said, think about the ramifications for the family and families involved. It's tragic.

First day on the new job tomorrow! Fortunately, it's 2 weeks of training. Woohoo!

which explains their last laugh..... I understand what you're saying, and I agree. Trust me, I am glad this guy is out of leadership as much as the next guy. It is prideful individuals like that who go unchecked and ultimately find ruin. If this guy had any accountability, this wouldn't have been headlines. Mega church = mega egos = Mega downfall That's not what THEY were saying, however.

This is the edited version of what I wanted to really say. Dear LCR and GCH, You are two of the saddest people i've ever not known. Good luck with laughing at other people's mistakes and failings. The view must be beautiful from up there. Sincerely, The human race.

A thought about gay marriage amendments....
sox4lifeinPA replied to Rex Kickass's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) Romans 14 does indeed cover my feelings on the subject as well. I'm thinking the verses about not judging one another or putting up stumbling blocks for each other, and letting each person give account of himself to his God. Or the parts about following after things that make for peace and that build one another up. Maybe especially the part where Paul tells his Christian audiances to keep their faith between themselvs and their God. Every once in a while Paul gets it right. This is an extremely touchy subject that I don't begin to have the elegance to respond properly. I respect both sides of the arguement and that has only come with time. I know that we have grace sufficient for all of our failures and I thank God for my ever expanding perspective on such issues. grace and peace be on everyone. -
A thought about gay marriage amendments....

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Why can't gay couples enjoy the same rights as straight couples thru a civil union? because such a law supporting this act would be as discriminating as the law reads now, except you're only excluding a smaller segment of the population. Any TWO people should be allowed to form a civil union. If it's about rights, this is the ONLY right thing to do. by the way, a constitutional amendment banning gay marriages is as idiotic as prohibition. -
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) I understand. I'm just saying the perception has a chance to change. one review at a time hopefully. I LOVE my gigabeat...and it gigabeats the hell out of the 30g (and 80g because of the price) Ipods. It has a larger viewing screen and equal style. The only reason I could see staying with an Ipod is itunes, but here again, I'm not saying Ipods suck, I just think that Apple easily has competition. Unfortunately, it is the consumer that is lazy.

A thought about gay marriage amendments....
sox4lifeinPA replied to Rex Kickass's topic in The Filibuster
You answered yourself. Many people believe that someone or something made a distinction between male and female for a reason and those reasons culminate in marriage, procreation, and development of a male and female role model to that child. ( I love the "homosexuality exists throughout nature" arguement....humans don't eat their babies...which exists thoughout nature as well) Marriage and legal rights are two different beasts. As i've said before, the gay rights movement is myopic and hypocritical. They're only asking for equal rights for themselves, when they should be asking for equal rights for EVERYONE. If you believe that two gay men or two women should be afforted the same rights as a heterosexual couple, then ANY two people should be able to enter into that same kind of union, regardless of relation. When it comes to actual ceremonies, I think churches should stay away from the issue either way. Unity goes out the window when you mess with such things. Romans 14 comes to mind. So from a person standpoint, it's easy to see why people don't like this topic. From a government standpoint, I think you have an arguement, but as I said, it should envelope all people. -
watch this... I promise you'll laugh.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) i"ve actually heard the exact opposite about these kids. well, I hope so. Otherwise they'll be heroin addicts by 20. Dead by 22.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 03:14 AM) It makes me pretty jealous. I wish I could've walked through my high school knowing that I was a rock star. and be as big of douche bags as those kids are guaranteed to be.... you know those high school kids who get drafted to the NBA and turn out to be thugs? same principle. High school kids can't handle fame. Especially Rock Star fame.

QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) the only compelling thing is whether this is just another manipulation by juliette. As someone somewhere said, "if she wanted him dead, why wouldn't she just let him die. He's got a terminal tumor on his neck" I agree. While Ben seems to be "the leader" and we know he was born on the island, Juliette's story is mostly unknown and she seems to be quite free to do whatever she pleases. I think she was the wife of the previous leader. thoughts?

QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) at what point in my post did you think that I was referring to a single person, especially yourself? I didn't take it personally, if that what you took my response as. Like my post said, I think Ipods are overrated and underproduce. Apple needs to know there are definitely alternatives out there. Competition spurs innovation, which they are the leader in this category. I think they're lazy, right now, however. Any consumer willing to shell out 250-300 bucks off their hard earned cash should deserve better; demand it, even. All in all, I was just commenting on your perception of the mp3 player market. I think that's a lot of people's attitudes. After I spent close to 10 pure hours reading reviews and figuring out my best option, I hope my leg work inspires someone to choose another route besides the Ipod. Hopefully enough people will make that same decision and coax Apple into making steps forward. ok, that's that. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) You know way more about the tissue paper industry than would be considered healthy. Hopefully marriage will mean you're not going through the Kleenex so rapidly that you need to go generic in order to save money. you're a moron too....

QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 2, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) i can't stop watching dammit sigh... i guess he asked to be written off and such. Still felt like a really sloppy show last night. I agree. It seemed like they just threw together an episode just to kill him off and added some stuff with Jack, Ben and Juliette to keep our attention. I read this thread before I watched the episode, however, so I knew he was going to die. meh. C+ episode to me.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) Maybe metro men? Gap jeans are extremely comfortable and if you shop correctly, just as affordable as department store brand....and they look much cooler.

QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 3, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) the ipod will not be in trouble for quite a while. No doubt the ipod isn't in trouble, but that was why I went and did some research. The point of my review is that you can get twice as much product with reasonably the same amount of ease of use and style. the short: I wouldn't break my arm patting myself on the back after i bought an ipod. Itunes is a nice show, but if you're willing to put any amount of effort into your portable, ipods just don't hold their overvalued weight. Ipods = VW in the late ninties I use "Kleenex" when I have to blow my nose, but I look at comperable items with similar quality and superior quantity. I'm not impressed with the Kleenex brand simply because it revolutionized the tissue paper industry.

ok...so here it is... my mp3 player review: The Goods: Toshiba's Gigabeat 60g Music/Video Player (see picture above) The Price: 259.99 from Amazon.com (lists for wel above 300.00) The Platform: Windows Mobile Media Center My Initial reaction: It looks cool. Feels light but sturdy in my hands. The windows platform is super easy to use. I've been around enough Ipods and read enough reviews to know that its size is actually smaller, while the screen is bigger. I love the black and brushed alluminum. Why Windows over Apple?: I go back and forth between using Itunes and Windows media player, although Winamp is my primary music player. Itunes has a great store front, easy conversion of files into the library, and in my opinion, the easiest manipulation of file data, such as song title, artist, etc. Windows media player is more universal, however. I have no problem playing .avi, .mov, .mpegs, etc. (where itunes is very particular). This was the ultimate selling point when I was picking out platforms to go on. On Further Review: 60 gigs is huge and for the price you're getting twice as much space as the compareable Ipod 30g. Videos and pictures can be viewed either potrait (your only option for the ipod) or landscape. You wouldn't think this makes a difference, but it totally does. The picture is extremely clear and vivid, another thing that blew my mind. There was only noticeable discoloration when the sceen was dark, but that is to be expected even on a 30in Television. The Pros: Space, Screen Size, Versitility, Not feeding the angry ipod beast. The Cons: Itunes organizes better both on the pc and the portable player. However, the gigabeat sections the files off into "my pictures, my videos, my music" for better than average storing organization. What you need to know in a few short sentences: This is a great player for anyone that likes diversity. You will need to download a video file converter for any unsupported formats, which I had to do for my .avi files. The work is worth the payoff. My score: A, for screen, hard drive size, and ease of use. p.s.: in addition, there's a video downloading site called "Vongo" which allows you to download movies and other videos to your player for $9.99. If you travel a lot, this player could be worth it. Less equipment, More Movies.
