  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 08:29 AM) I thought you would have a non-f***ing roommate. BTW, how do you know what a pregnant walrus snores like? I met FlasoxxJim once... ZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing?
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 01:17 AM) No biggie. The film I wanted to see had a 7 pm listing on line. When I got to the theater, it wasn't showing at that time, so we got to see another film for free. Unfortunately, Deja Vu was the only thing that hadn't just started. that's weird...i feel like you've typed that before..
  4. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Nov 26, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) Pfft, Pop-Tarts. You just cost yourself a vote, Mister! We need a Toaster Streudel Soxtalk Presidency! racist...er, pastryist

  6. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Nov 26, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) Done that, for the past few weeks . all she says in return is "nothingg, i dont need anything" stuff along those lines. =P then just take her some where nice to eat...like hibachi if she's never been.
  7. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 26, 2006 -> 09:02 AM) I can see many places where Foxx would not be a hypocrite in this I can do it, but you can't scenario. Red can call Eric a dumbass, but would probably object if Bob called Eric a dumbass. In the throes of passion, you could possibly call your wife a slut but may have a problem if PA did. I have a friend that refers to himself as a dumb Pollock, but I am certain would be hurt if I did in a certain may. A certain way. Here is another factor, the same words can be used in many ways. As noted earlier, Richards was probably using those words to hurt. Foxx can use it and it's almost like a secret password with the people that share that same race. Someone outside the group uses the same word, it can have an entirely different meaning and an entirely different reaction. I don't see hypocrisy with Foxx. I see someone trying to gather some publicity, maybe a little "street cred" before jumping in his Mercedes, but not hypocrisy. "I heard what you said Michael Richards" - Jaime Foxx (worst oscar receipiant ever)
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 26, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) Copy and paste the link of the video. Right under the smileys, there's a pull down for post options. And just turn HTML on (it doesn't matter which one). And then it should appear. greasy is my kneesy
  9. I'm retarded... can someone walk me through the steps to embed a youtube video? thanks.
  10. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) I'm pretty sure buying gifts for girlfriends that aren't cliche is impossible. a gift card for sexy time with another girl. point. match.
  11. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) I have had over 10 acoustics in my life, and none were cmore dissapointing than the Fenders. I like their electrics, but find their acoustics to be pure crap. what were your other acoustics, if you don't mind my asking.
  12. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) Now you bring out the A & M sig, you chicken crap. whatever chicken crap eater
  13. this'll probably get moved to the 'buster, but I figured I'd try. it's called The Church You Know and it's a satirical look on evangelical churches in America. let me know what you think.
  14. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) /faints //gets the smelling salts Holy sweet merciful crap, PA and I actually agreed on something. alert the presses! I knew that was coming.... QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) Way to show some class there Mr. Foxx, I would say what I think of you, but it's probably not Soxtalk appropriate. What an idiot. If I were Richards I'd sue. Those are threatening remarks. although he may have to go back to the 30s to do it. Who puts up their dukes anymore?
  15. I just got done reading this entire thread. LCR makes the best points. I think comics can pretty much say anything and it's ok. It is their profession to be funny, be satirical, be offensive, to test the limits of what is "ok" and otherwise entertain. The problem is that comedy is totally subjective. Just because one person finds something unfunny, doesn't completely eliminate it from being funny to another. the comic may just lose the attention of the unentertained audience member. There were plenty of people laughing at the beginning of the tirade and then the crowd got sucked into the guy saying "that was uncalled for" and turned on Richards, which they had a right to do, although Richards had a right to blast the guy in the first place. Richards lost the crowd by trying to make a point to be funny in an angry and racist way and it was funny to some, but ultimately, as many have said, he didn't do it in an intellectual or humorous way, so he lost the crowd. That's what he's guilty of, not doing his job. He failed to keep them entertained and failed to do it in a funny way. As for some of you, who are suggesting shades of racism, i.e. N***** being MORE racist than another word, that's just as ignorant as saying the word in the first place. The implication of that is a black man can be more offended by the n-word than a woman for the c-word. They are equally offensive and both individuals have equal reason to BE offended. Regardless of history, hate is hate and I'm pretty sure that although the c-word hasn't "been around for a while" women may feel they've been oppressed for a longer time than blacks. but I like my women submissive, so what do I care?
  16. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) Ginger or Mary Ann? Pete Seeger or Phil Ochs? White or Wheat? Toaster Streudel or Pop-Tarts? Can I answer? Mary ann Peter Gabriel Whole Wheat not colored White Eggo Waffles
  17. QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 07:25 AM) My 6-year-old daughter fell asleep during Happy Feet. If THAT's not a bad review, I don't know what is. or a sign of child abuse. Everything I saw about this movie was horrific.
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 09:12 AM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZCNrf0IH_U He'll save children but not the British children. that was lame.
  19. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 10:24 AM) Linderman/his brother will get him out, but it will make the papers probably. they'll probably be calling in the cops from LA and they'll figure out that someone stopped Sklyer from killing her...even though she did die. The mind reading cop will figure out that peter didn't do it and peter will be able to read the cops mind too. Peter's gift is a great one because although he is limited, he really freaks the other heroes out by imitating their power, like claire.
  20. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 01:22 AM) That'd probably be too hefty. I'm thinking $300 would be the absolute tops I'd be able to go with given my salary, bills, etc. The first thing you need to know about any guitar store is that you should never pay the price they list it for. It's like a car dealer, they mark it up and let the suckers pay full price. Act like THEY need you to buy the guitar, because they do. There are a million places to get a guitar and you want this store to give you a good deal, so they get your business for strings, picks, etc. Here's a nice one that selling for $399...but like I said, you could get them lower, especially if you find a guitar you know has been "sitting on the lot for a while". Fender® GDC100 SCE Concert Acoustic-Electric Guitar Epiphone Acoustics are solid as well. A good guitar for $299 that as Rex said will last you 10+ years and be cheap enough not to break your wallet, but be nice enough that if you get good enough you could gig out and not look like a fool. Epiphone AJ-200SCE Acoustic-Electric Guitar My last example is a Yamaha acoustic. I've played two in my life, mostly for home practice, but they have a deceptively rich and warm low tone for $349 and it's a great looking guitar. The first two I showed you had electronics, which means you can plug into an amp, a mixer, etc to amplify the sound. This one doesn't. My advice is buy as nice as a guitar as you can and include a cutaway and electronics. I say that because one day you're going to be mic-ing your guitar to play somewhere and wishing you could have just plugged in or playing a solo and having to stop at the 10 fret because it's really annoying when there's no cutaway. Yamaha FG735S Folk Acoustic Guitar Ok, so some people may totally disagree, but those are three viable options for you. Those were quick searches and I haven't played those exact guitars, but I know what that price range more or less can do. Spiff's suggestion is a good one, but I really believe that an acoustic will give you the most diversity in what you can do with the instrument...camp fire sing-a-longs, etc. hope that helps. PA.
  21. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) It is much more of a personal goal for the discipline of mastering an instrument and working with that. It's been something that I've wanted to do for a while but due to outright cluelessness about going about getting a good guitar and it being an investment of a few hundred bucks (and therefore wanting to get a decent one and not get grifted by some owner looking for a profit), I've kinda put it by the wayside. well, then good. As a one-time professional hack of 4-5 instruments, it's amazing when you can finally click with something you're learning. good luck. Like i said, a fender acoustic with electronics (pickup and 1/4" input) will work fine. I've played Taylors, Martins, Seagulls... If you don't plan on playing professionally, or even if you do, then I would say go with a fender (or yamaha...I have had a lot of good experiences with them on the learning to play/small gig level.) I never liked ibenez, imo they're the Hyundai's of guitars...over the years you'll be glad you went with a classic. as for this monstrosity: this'll replace the whale in me nightmares... QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) First 2 Weezer albums or more recent Weezer albums? I've got the first 2 covered. The last couple though...(shakes head)... blue, pinkerton and i would even say green.... everything else :puke
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) Aww come on dude...you know that's deep down what every guitar player is thinking about. Personally, I'd like to get an acoustic sometime soon and actually learn a few songs as entertainment around a campfire. that's a good goal. I recommend weezer. Or at least becoming friends with people who like weezer.
  23. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 10:05 PM) I'm coming out, I'm a lesbian. I don't even need to ask. Seems kind of silly to me to care who someone is having sex with. don't care WHO they're doing it with...just HOW they're doing it. (I may learn something for the honeymoon )
  24. it depends upon the use of the guitar.... if you plan on enjoying to play your favorite songs and satisfaction that you learned a musical instrument, then in my experience you can get a fender acoustic for ~250-350 and be satisfied for a lifetime. HOWEVER.... if you plan on manipulating a girls heart by playing guitar for her, which you will because chicks LOVE the guitar, then immediately smack yourself in the balls and never think about this idea again. GUYS WHO USE GUITAR TO GET GIRLS ARE LAME-OS make the right decision.
