  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 01:24 AM) If he ever hit free agency, he's a player I'd want the Sox to throw billions of dollars at. But they wouldn't.
  2. You can call me President Pratt when you blackmail me, sir. (Can you edit away the "Brokeback Pratt" to read, "President Brokeback Pratt"?
  3. Makes sense with me as Ralph Reed.
  4. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) Greg won Soxtalk's inaugural presidential election because he utilized Soxtalk's back-alley alliance of misfits and hooligans -- the chat crew. We've taken down powerful foes in the past, and this particular challenge --while tough-- once again proved victorious. Oh, and I didn't read any of his political platforms. How's that for Chicago politics? I think that's about right, actually. You voted for me? Thank you, Flash. I always did respect you and your views. Moreso when you voted for me.
  5. Rex: did you take offense at something for real? If you did, then I'm sorry, but I didn't say anything with the intent to offend and don't quite see where you're coming from. SF1 has my back. And SoxTalk's. I actually won the popular vote the first time, though.
  6. Mmhmm, the kid pulled it out. Comeback victory! AGAINST ALL ODDS AND MODERATORS. And, for the record, I endorse PA as Vice President, if there's a runoff. If not, then, I'll be happy to have Rex as my insurance policy if someone assassinates me.
  7. I am victor! A few words. Thank you, SoxFan1, for joining me earlier. You are now my War Minister. Thank you to the people who voted; to my friends who supported me early, as well, like Milkman and DA -- my dear War Council partner. To those who replied kindly to my requests for their votes; even to those who didn't but, yet, didn't vote for someone else to spite me. Thank you all! Now I know how my hero, Harry Truman, felt. And I said it early on: I travel at night and paint my face. You don't know it's over until you're in a bodybag. (Really, I enjoyed this and would've even if I'd lost, and I thank most of my opponents. Well, all, really.)
  8. YES, SOMEONE CAST AN INSURANCE VOTE.
  9. Tell you the truth, Felix, you had a lot to do with it. TexSox too. When I saw, browsing the main page of the forums, that you'd posted here, I came into the thread for the first time in awhile and found that I was three votes out of first when I'd been about seven or eight earlier and I said, "Wow, this is tight. I can pull this out," so thanks for drawing my attention. TexSox gave me a rallying cry. About the average user, and not being an ELITIST like the OTHERS running. /green Two more minutes. One more, please hold.
  10. Come on, my little anti-establishmentarians. Just a couple more...
  11. I'm not unknown. I just think it's rather clear that I'm unpopular with some people around here. Which isn't to complain or anything. Just saying. I have a lot more friends than I thought I did at this site, though, since I got quite a few PMs urging me on in addition to the ones I sent.
  12. Give it up like Reinsdorf does baseball seasons? Seriously, I can't believe that people like the man who helped orchestrate the 94 strike and who tried to move this team to several different cities and even the northside and who pulled the bull he pulled in the late 1990s and who's now crying poor once the fans finally start showing up.
  13. QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) What is his true form? He is not the Tribune company. He spends what the team makes, and there is plenty of evidence of that. What do you want from the guy? He's a guy who loves white flags.
  14. For all the championships Reinsdorf's "brought" Chicago, he's certainly sabotaged our teams aplenty in the past.
  15. Uh, the players have more to do with that. It's not Bill Veeck's fault that the 1959 White Sox didn't beat the Dodgers and Reinsdorf doesn't deserve anymore credit for the Starting Four of 2005 especially now that he's crying poor and reverting to his true form.
  16. Third place is fine by me. Better than I worried I'd do.
  17. I've never liked Jerry Reinsdorf. Never will.
  18. Josh Hamilton's story is oh-so-sad. He was an uber-prospect.
  19. For once, SoxBadger, you and I are in agreement.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 08:49 AM) That's the part I don't like. JR should fire anyone who mentions money publicly. The fans have stepped up, whether they are bandwagon or not. They supposedly have an incredible renewal rate with season tickets even with a 3rd place finish. You can't cry about the soaring contracts. You are going to eventually have to pay up or be the Pirates or Marlins. Other than that, I think this is a good deal. It will affect how KW operates the rest of the way because of the financial savings, which is sort of like the Pods/Lee trade and if Floyd and Gio develop, it will turn into a steal. We don't have the scouts to be the Marlins, but I know what you're saying. Unless Kenny does something real good between now and Opening Day, he's looking more and more like his pre-2005 form. (I know we all appreciate KW, but he hasn't always been the best GM.)
  21. I believe that Gonzalez and Floyd is a very good deal for us. I do trust that the White Sox spotted mechanical issues with him and I expect that Floyd will be like Thornton for us. I have faith in Cooper. I personally hope that Freddy has a monster year next year.
  22. I hardly consider electioneering to be spam.
