Ah, I saw it, nevermind.
-
Does this poll close tomorrow at midnight or sometime midday Friday or what?
-
However, a fairly significant amount of my votes came before I'd PMed anyone and I was quite surprised at the level of support I'd had. I've added some votes through PMs, and am looking to gain more to be sure, but it isn't entirely on those grounds that I earned votes.
-
I PMed some people, absolutely. Nothing wrong with asking people for their votes especially people that wouldn't have voted otherwise.

QUOTE(Damen @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) Good one. I'm glad somebody got it and liked my joke about the silly Democratic Johns.
-
Hahaha.
-
I don't believe that Anderson was ever "as good as or better" than Mackowiak last year but for defense.
-
Let's hope the Democratic candidate in 2008 doesn't mention Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter's daughter in the debates.
-
I'm steadily coming up.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 08:52 AM) Huh? Colorado's always been a tough place to be a pitcher. Just recently, are they finally figuring things out there. I know Colorado's a toughplace to pitch. I'm just saying that you don't necessarily have to be that good anymore because of their humidor.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Gregory Pratt replied to greasywheels121's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Browsing around, he looks pretty good. Doubt Houston would deal him but if they want one of our pitchers, I'm not sure if there's anyone from their system who could make it worthwhile for the Sox like he can. -

QUOTE(ChiSox9 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) Whats the chances of the base of the deal with Garcia to the Astro's for Willy Taveras and (ideas?). Taveras and pitching, sure, that's a good trade, IMO, to consider and start with. Says here the Sox are interested in Jason Hirsh of Houston, a minor league pitching prospect. Anyone know anything about him? http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines scroll down. -
Baltimore reminds me of the 2001 Bears. Everytime I watch them I wonder how they manage to win anything. They're good but not great. I expect San Diego to win the AFC. The Bears to win the AFC. The Cowboys? Ha.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) That division does not look like it will be "average" for long. The D-Backs and Dodgers are loaded with young talent, the Padres have a solid young pitching staff and some talent on the field, the Rockies are slowly but surely building a pitching staff. I'm not too familiar with Colorado's system, but doesn't their pitching-staff owe more to the humidor than skill?

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 01:29 AM) What are the duties & powers of the Soxtalk President? Ceremonial. Oh, and war-making abilities.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 07:05 AM) Or he felt while Mackowiak was a bad option in center, he could have felt that Brian was worse... Which might very well have been true, especially once the offense overall started to sputter and he has to make the choice between a guy hovering around .300 versus a man around the Mendoza Line.

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...sp&c_id=cws Good piece. Lots of Ozzie quotes. And he's considering Iguchi for leadoff.
-
"Possess," not "posess". Okay piece. Good job.

I really think it's a pipe dream. A-Rod, that is. Really doubt he'd waive his NTC to play for the White Sox.

Williams working on extension for Buehrle/Garcia
Gregory Pratt replied to Gene Honda Civic's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 11:54 PM) No I'd take it. A pitcher on a 1 year deal could blow out an arm and get nothing in 08. I hope that doesn't happen, but it's something to consider as a player. Mark has also been offered an extension before and turned it down a few years ago (I can't remember when but someone else will remember too). He then pitched poorly for a while and was kidded that he should have taken the extension when he had the chance. He did take the extension, though, after the worst season of his life up until now. Unless I'm horribly mistaken. -
We will keep SoxTalk and the Nation safe.

The best scene in a cartoon EVER, IMO, is when Franklin and Eleanor are driving to the airport and he's swerving like mad. Eleanor says, "SLOW DOWN!" and he says, "ARE YOU MAD? DON'T YOU SEE THE DANGER WE'RE IN?!" and then the perspective becomes his and we see Donkey Kong throwing barrels at the car. Ah, the Critic.

To sway all you undecided voters, let me say that I will be appointing SoxFan1 to be my War Minister. AKA Defense Secretary. There isn't a lot I can promise you because I believe in allowing Congress to work and the SCOTUS, too, and because I do not necessarily believe in a hyper-active, spend-crazy legislation-crazy Government, but I can promise you that we will protect America better than any of my opponents would. Also: my As far as my Cabinet: I would generally choose outside of people from SoxTalk because I believe in getting advice from the best people around. That means that my Economics Secretaries would be a mixture of Lawrence Summers, Bob Rubin and Paul O'Neill. My War Minister? SoxFan1, a man capable of keeping everyone strapped and killing any troubles that lurk, and there certainly will be such troubles with the Evil Koreans and Iranians around. My Attorney General? Patrick Fitzgerald. Better than Janet Reno and Boob Ashcroft! Everything else will be chosen from the House and Senate. No Mercedes Marxists or anything like that, however. good night.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) Is that why she's your EX-girlfriend? Here, watch this show. Uch, it's awful. That's it, we're through! Yeah, actually, except that the Conversation was from Her to Me and we were discussing American Idol. /green
