thought BA might go 5-5 but alas nope, Wright to the braves lets see if Oakland shakes it up -
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) That's a Living on Mars scenario indeed
-
its crazy to me how much JJ Schwarz & Dalton Guthrie fell down the rankings
-
pipe dream scenario 1(11) - Adam Haseley 2(49) - Brendon Little 3(87) - Brent Rooker 4(117) - Luis Gonzalez 5(147) - Will Toffey
-
If Smith is the pick, I think he is more Grace than Olerud but having said that I would welcome that in the future line up at 3 behind Moncada and ahead of Abreu

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 10:35 PM) Callis mentioning possible deals at 4 and 5 for high schoolers that means Oakland could possibly pair Puk with McKay, I don't think they could pass on that.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 08:54 PM) Frankie Piliere @FPiliereD1 16m Growing buzz around Pavin Smith as a #Dbacks favorite at #7. Obviously changes if a top guy falls but they're enamored with him #MLBDraft I want to believe... Twins - Wright Reds - Greene Padres - Gore Rays - McKay Braves - Lewis A's - Beck D-backs - Smith Phillies - Faedo Brewers - Adell Angels - Bukauskas White Sox - Haseley

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) You forgot about Fowler and the fact they'll probably sign an impact OF (Harper perhaps) in free agency in the near future. Obviously they don't have to trade Frazier by any means, but they can afford to if it lands them a cost-controlled TOR starter. The problem is Quintana is not pitching like one right now and we'll probably have to wait until the offseason to move him (at the earliest) unless Q goes on a crazy run over the next weeks. No doubt they could move him or Fowler for a TOR but as you said Q isn't pitching at that level. Crazier things have happened Q could easily go on a run, hes got 8 starts before the deadline.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) You seem to have forgotten about the 4 remaining years on Ellsbury. Not at all, hes been riding the pine this year and will likely continue that trend going forward since he is still experiencing concussion symptoms. hes got a complete NTC and over 20mil guaranteed for the next 3 years before he can be bought out for 5mil. I see his career quickly going the same route as Carl Crawford.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) I still think the Yankees make the most sense for Quintana. Clint Frazier is having a nice year and is completely expendable for them. Obviously there would have to be other pieces, but I think a deal makes too much sense for both sides. The Yankees make a lot of sense but Frazier is in their immediate future, baby bombers and yankees in general are looking pretty good for 3-4 year window starting this year. DH Brett Gardner* - 33 and on the last year of his deal. C Gary Sanchez - 24 looking above average behind the dish under control for 5 years after '17 1B Greg Bird* - 24 has had some health issues and strike out issues but will get a chance to work through both of them. under control for 4 more years after '17. 2B Starling Castro - 27 looks to be back to delivering on his promise below average defensively at 2B under control for 3 years after '17 SS Didi Gregorius* - 28 above average defensively and under control for 2 more years after '17 3B Gleyber Torres - 20 has already begun seeing time at 3B full control. LF Clint Frazier - 22 likely destined for a corner where he will be average, full control as well. CF Aaron Hicks# - 28 what a steal for JR Murphy if this is for real under control for 2 more years. RF Aaron Judge - 26 under control for 4 years after this one Luis Severino is 23 and under control for 3 more years Masahiro Tanaka is 28 and if he doesn't opt out will be under control for 2 more years. Jordan Montgomery* is 24 and they'll have full control over him. their backed is locked up for at least two more years, Dellin Betances is a FA after 19, Chapman will be in the second year of his deal and Warren is a FA after '18. They will all be 30 starting next season as well. I could see the yankees QO Michael Pineda and buying out CC and bringing him back on a reduced deal. But as a whole Torres and Frazier appears to be the end of the yankees rebuild and they'll have vet back ups in Ellsbury and Headley if they need a break or stumble. Their only weakness is a TOR arm and a 5th starter provided Tanaka doesn't opt out and a solid back up catcher since Romine is garbage. having said all that i could see us matching up with them with something like Rutherford, Sheffield or Adams & Miguel Andujar for Q.

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) Kendall and Bukauskas are the only 2 picks I'll actually be upset with and seem to be the 2 most mocked to us. Hopefully the mocks are all wrong... I have a similar feeling. I would be ok with Kendall or Bukauskas but I'm hoping Arizona moves of Haseley and goes in on Bukauskas if the A's do go in a different direction with Beck. I do like that scout has us picking Brendon Little with 49. A 3/4 flame throwing lefty that some are projecting for the pen at #49 similar enough to Chris Sale?? coincidence...I think not.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 07:59 PM) Collins might be that rare guy that hits better for average as he goes up the ladder. He knows the zone. Maybe the focus on defense has taken away from his hitting, but he'll go to AA next year and hit .260 with 20 bombs. This is where I'm at too, reports coming from the org are inspiring with regards to his defense and as he moves up the zone gets much tighter, I'm sure that will only help him. Maybe we're looking at a Mickey Tettleton type of player

QUOTE (almagest @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) From Keith Law's latest chat: I think a good better best situation is Jackie Bradley Jr., Austin Jackson, Mike Cameron

QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 01:02 PM) My opinion means nothing, but since this is a Sox forum, I really hope we choose between: Beck/Royce Lewis/Haseley/Hiura/Warmoth why not burger? and do you think lewis drops that far as the top prep bat?

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 9, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) For those who follow college ball more than I, does anyone keep a somewhat up to date mock of the 2018 draft? Curious to see where Beer is slotted these days. Thanks. As soon as day 1 is in the books you can expect everyone to release their hot takes just like last year.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 07:32 PM) 3rd time in two weeks he failed to challenge a play that probably results in an overturn. Clearly he seems timid to use it early in the game. the fix is in!!!! lose at any cost, no challenges ever!! /s -
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 7, 2017 -> 12:41 AM) I think the fact that we have a top 3 system may give us the wiggle room to roll the dice on a boom-or-bust type player. I still want Haseley, but I'm trying to talk myself in to being ok with a dice roll on Kendall or Beck, and I think I'm leaning Beck. This is where I'm at as well I would love for our top 5 picks to look something like this 11 - OF Adam Haseley or OF Jeren Kendall or OF Austin Beck in that order for me 49 - LHP Seth Romero or LHP Brandon Little or LHP Jacob Heatherly 87 - RHP Bryce Montes De Orca 117 - OF Luis Gonzalez 147 - 3B Will Toffey

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 6, 2017 -> 07:13 PM) Yolmer Sanchez is blossoming. I'm not against moving Yoan to CF its the same positional value and allows his legs and arm to play up even more. If Yolmer has developed into a Erick Aybar type of player maybe the white sox would be better served with filling 2 holes instead of relegating Yolmer to the bench.
