  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) If he's not appealing and he failed the drug test 2 weeks ago, it doesn't make much sense he's been playing. They wouldn't say, "oh you have an off day on Sept. 6th, that will be a convenient time to start your suspension". Unless he has a 2 week window to DECIDE to appeal. I mean, his lawyer/agent might need time to look it over, and see if it's worth it to appeal. That could take time.
  2. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) Yea, I guess I can see that. They should make it a fail free system then. That is just not achievable. Humans make mistakes. Hell, it could even be as easy as misreading a test result. An appeal allows a dedicated and thorough review before any judgement is passed down.
  3. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) can we keep the thread about AJ please, hard to sift through page after page of quotefests for actual information, every time this thread gets bumped I'm hoping it's from actual information about this rumor This is all relevant discussion. Anything big would amended to the title of the thread.
  4. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 03:48 PM) I find it strange that it would take weeks after the failed test to suspend them. You'd think once they found out he failed then the next game he should be out, why let a known PEDer go out there for another 2 weeks, esp. in the heat of a pennant race, before discipline? If its a sound testing system then he should be gone already. Because EVERYONE has the right to appeal, and they absolutely should. Tests can be mishandled, contaminated, etc. etc. If you take away the right of appeal, you take away any ounce of justice left.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) Technically I don't think the Sox actually could release him. He'd be suspended for the remainder of his contract, if this rumor wound up being true. He'd have to sign another contract and still have 25 games or so left in his suspension (depending on if the Sox have any playoff games). Playoff games count against the suspension? Interesting. I assumed they wouldn't, because Players don't get paid any extra for those games (or do they?).
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) He hasnt done that regarding anyone. And he wont Because it's completely absurd.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 03:03 PM) Well, that's too bad. If this is true, I wonder if Selig would take the stance of making the Sox forfeit every game AJ hit a homer in after surpassing last year's HR total. If AJ did this, it definitely showed in his power numbers. Lol :lolhitting
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:44 PM) I'm hearing that he failed the test 2 weeks ago. There will be a press conference tomorrow where his suspension will be made official. Makes sense since they just brought up Gimenez. Source?
  9. 17-4. Good work, Sox.
  10. This reminds me of my Dunn vs. Lillibomb post last year, for most home runs. Most thought I was nuts.. but Lillibomb hit more! HA!
  11. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 2, 2012 -> 06:35 PM) It's 1-0 Tito. Let's stop with the over dramatics on the home run to tie it. Surely you aren't referring to me?
  12. What in the f***ing f***? If this is true, then you deserve to be sued, Danks.
  13. Mother f***ing Lew Ford.
  14. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 04:58 PM) wouldnt be surprised if we get shut out or no hit, seriously. weak ABs by the offense so far.
  15. Sale looks like crap so far.
  16. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) That was never a serious conversation any way. Too many great pitchers, Sale is not ready for that I strongly disagree. A strong finish, and I think Sale had a legit shot.
  17. Well, this probably ends the Cy Sale conversation.
  18. TYLER FLOWERS! APRIL SHOWERS, BRING MAY FLOWERS!
  19. Also, are we rolling out the welcome-back mat for Humber? Or does someone else take G's spot?
  20. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) A hilarious misplay in RF. And it wasn't an error?
  21. How the hell did Youk get a triple?
  22. At first I was like.. wtf! Then I was like... wtf?
  23. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 12:32 AM) Even the dudes at ESPN are not giving Verlander any love... Price, Weaver, Felix, Sale. Wait, do we care about ESPN again, all of the sudden? Verlander is leading the league in ERA+ and his WAR is the highest of them all, right at 6.0. That is good. No way he's not in the hunt.
  24. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 12:19 AM) I know Win/Loss record is not solely on the pitcher but it definitely comes into play which will definitely be working against Felix and Verlander. Think at this point it is between Price/Weaver and if both of them falter Chris Sale/Verlander be next in line. Verlander does have a chance to beat out Sale because of his popularity but the first 2 mentioned are in command of it atm. Weaver has the lowest ERA+ and the lowest WAR of all five. I would put it at Price, Verlander, Sale, Felix, Weaver. Weaver's WAR is only 2.9 according to baseball-refernce. The rest of them are 4+.
  25. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Right now David price has to be in lead IMO. Yep. It's got to be Price. His numbers are ridiculous. How did you leave Verlander off the list though?
