Aj A clubhouse cancer?
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 11:50 AM) i never read anything on it, or saw when it happend,(saw a video online i think) but what happend between aj and floyd in ny? Not sure, but I'm guessing it was probably something along the line of... "I knew I should have thrown that guy a cutter." "Right. I'm the reason Robin is coming to get you. The problem is that when you get behind you're too damn predictable. You want to stay in the game? Try executing the pitches that I call."

Bobby Jenks and Bsox about to part ways
As relief pitchers go, Bobby had a nice career. 5 pretty solid years. A few dominating stretches. 2 all star appearances. Closer on a world series winning team. No reason for Sox fans to crap on him. It was simply his time to go.

RA Dickey article - great read
Wow. Have watched him pitch, but didn't really know anything about him before this article. Definitely makes my short list of players from other teams I will pull for. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/r-a--dickey-c...nch-belief.html

2012 Minor League Catch All thread
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 4, 2012 -> 09:17 AM) Saw his stats at Rookie League. 21 years old, don't know where we got him? Anyone know? NDFA out of Appalachian State. http://www2.wataugademocrat.com/Sports/sto...ation-id-008136 Dowdy signs with White Sox organization Former Appalachian State catcher Jeremy Dowdy signed a free-agent contract with the Chicago White Sox and will likely begin his professional career in nearby Bristol, Va. with the rookie-level Bristol White Sox of the Appalachian League. Dowdy is one of only three players in Appalachian State history to play in 200 games as a Mountaineer. The 6-3, 215-pounder finished his collegiate career ranked among the program's all-time top 10 with 203 games played, 198 starts, 732 at-bats, 43 doubles, 127 RBI and 86 walks and signed with the White Sox shortly after last week's 40-round Major League Baseball Draft.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Scotty Pods end up with the Marlines before the season ends.

"Ballplayer" documentary
There's a documentary coming out on July 13th called "Ballplayer"... it's about baseball in the DR. Sounds like an expose of recruiting... how young kids are practically pimped to MLB teams... use of PEDs, lying about ages, skimming bonuses, etc. Looks like it will be fascinating. http://peloterothemovie.com/ Anybody familiar with this?

AAP: Matt Heidenreich
Heidenreich delivers complete game shutout http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=2...sp&sid=t580 Matt Heidenreich went the distance Monday night in an 8-0 win over Salem. Heidenreich turned in his second complete game of the season, scattering four hits and not allowing a runner to reach second base. Both of Heidenreich's complete games this season have been more than seven innings. Heidenreich (7-2) is one of only two pitchers in the Carolina League to have a complete game of more than seven innings. He carried a perfect game into the fifth inning before allowing a single to Xander Bogaerts. He induced a double play to the next batter and exited the fifth having faced the minimum Amount of hitters. The leadoff man in the sixth reached for Salem but Heidenreich again forced the next batter to hit into a double play to end the inning. Heidenreich finished the night throwing 98 pitches and facing only 29 batters, two more than the minimum. Heidenreich talks about his gem http://dashboard.mlblogs.com/2012/06/25/he...-about-his-gem/

Nestor Molina
Molina is not overpowering. The book on him is that he's consistently 90-92 with his fastball... has an above average splitter, a slurve, and a work in progress changeup.

How many times have we been shutout since 09?

The Kids Can Play II?
I don't think the Tigers are that talented. Yes they have a few all stars. But I think they also have several players who overachieved in 2011 and simply came back down to earth this year.

6/29/12 GT: Sox at Yank$
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) Is their bullpen that depleted ? According to Steve Stone, Yankee pitchers have thrown 200 pitches tonight.

Nestor Molina
^^^^ What NS72 said. Molina has a major league arm. I wouldn't put too much stock in the numbers at this point. Newly converted pitchers typically need to focus on mechanics, repeatability of delivery, command, and control. As those areas improve, so will the numbers. Until then the results can be ugly.

Who replaces Ohman?
I wouldn't be surprised to see Veal get a shot. Then if he doesn't cut it... they release him. I also wouldn't be surprised if they call up a righty instead. Omogrosso maybe.

6/23 games
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) Looks like Castro was doing OK through 5, then the wheels fell off. He gave up 4 singles in the 6th. One was a ground ball fielded by the catcher. Another was a bunt single. He gave up one run and got pulled. Problem was the reliever (Infante) had trouble getting people out and the Knights made a couple of errors... So all 4 runners scored. So, not as bad a start as the numbers would make it look.
