QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) For what it's worth Dunn hit some bombs at batting practice. Floyd hit a bomb during batting practice. To be honest, I think I could hit a bomb during ML batting practice. -

The answer is four. And they are all past their prime but hamilton and perhaps holliday. -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 12:03 AM) WE'RE fixated on his past drug use? It's the media that is. I don't give a s*** about his drug abuse and I don't want to be reminded of how he's a "hero" or as great "story" because of it constantly, but I am regularly. Well if you weren't fixated on the media being fixated on it, maybe you'd notice that he is a great player. How many outfielders are there in baseball right now with a career ops over .900? -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 11:53 PM) It's not baseless at all. The only reason he's anywhere near as famous as he is now is because of his heroin addiction. Look at what Bautista has done, and he's still not even close to the commodity that Hamilton is. Now, imagine that Bautista overcame a meth addiction. He'd be everywhere (unbearably), just like Hamilton. I don't agree. He was simply the best player in the game last year (or at least one of them). He batted .100 points over bautista last year and outslugged him. Hamilton has been doing well for a longer period of time. If you guys are fixated on his past drug use, that's fine. I look at him as a baseball player and see him as perhaps the leagues greatest talent. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) One of the others is only on there because he was a heroin addict. This is a baseless comment. I think he is living off last year's amazing season, not his post addiction life. -
So is ozzie going to bench lilli for a lack of effort tomorrow?

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) Tulowitzski on 1B. Looper hit between CF and 2B dropped in. Tulo scored from first. Superclose play at the plate, runner got in just before AJ could dive to his left to make the tag. I don't think it was that close. But just a little effort and he would have been out. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 11:29 PM) Can someone explain what happened to out of towners? Bloop hit to center, lilli took it easy on getting there and getting it in, they waved tulo home, lilli's throw off the mark. -

Bench one player for dogging it, lose the game on his replacement doing the same. Very nice. -
Anybody see that clip of the cubs fan rooting for the cubs to lose by enthusiastically making a huge safe call on the cubs go behind run? What the hell was that?

Who are your favourite non-Sox players?

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) Really? To elaborate - I'm not absolutely certain if I am a fan of his, or if I am spiteful that he was traded when I thought it was a terrible trade. I was a fan while he was in our organization. Is that so bad? I guess the fact that he was traded and I hated it makes me root for him even harder. -
Who cares if he is an all star or not quite fringe all star. His numbers are excellent, he is pitching extremely well.

QUOTE (Real @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:26 PM) Btw, was I the only person to think of Chris Rongey and ROI when Teahen hit that bomb in the 9th? Probably. -

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:06 PM) If Teahen could start hitting better, he would be a nice leadoff candidate with his ability to walk. Granted he doens't defend well enough to play everyday. I'm sure he could play left fine. Problem is, ozzie won't lead him off or have him play left because he isn't as fast as pierre and they are both left handed. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) That is so not a compliment, either. Greg is one of my favorite posters.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:09 PM) Get 'em, Edwin. And what I mean by "get 'em" is not giving up 2 runs in 5.1 innings after 119 pitches, please. I'd take that against the unknown. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) I'll take whatever is making him a triple crown candidate instead, thank you. Easily misunderstood posts like this give weight to steve's argument.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) No s***, but not assisting in it is good enough for me. You mean the board not assisting in it?
-
If konerko hits 50 this year, more talks of this will come. Trying to delete topics about it won't help that. As southsider2k5 said, the blame lies on baseball's poor management of the issue.

I just think that hyperbole gives you artistic license to give your feelings on a topic in a sometimes entertaining way. Now people are just going to post their negative thoughts literally, and others who aren't even negative have one less tool to make interesting posts. Frankly, I think it will detract from the board more than add to it. Its not a big deal. That's the end of my input.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 08:26 AM) Will you be saying them 19 times consecutively or will you be pausing to actually elaborate on them? Why would that matter? Either they are hyperbole or not. Is some hyperbole allowed?
