I think that Jose Valentin would be the best candidate for the current logo/colors. I'm not sure anyone else has had defined facial hair since they changed to the black and white.
-
They are pretty awesome shirts though, I wish the Sox had someone more defined like the Robin Yount or Randy Johnson shirts.
-
I grabbed one when they popped up at the beginning of February.. I think we talked about who it was in one of the catch-alls. Ozzie seems like the only reasonable candidate.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 07:01 PM) NBA League Pass needs to be added. I wish one of these devices would allow you to receive cable channels over the internet a la carte. Like HBO and ESPN and CSN are all I need from a cable provider. NBA league pass was added along with MLB.tv. I think subscription models where networks (or "packages" of networks) get paid directly and consumers log-in to watch live or on demand content are in the near future for streaming devices like Apple TV. Someone just has to convince the networks and advertisers that it can be lucrative and accessible.
-
I picked up an Apple TV (2) over the weekend, after they released the software update that includes MLB.tv and I don't think I've watched any broadcast television besides some March Madness since.. Netflix and MLB.tv are just about all I need.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 18, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Mark Kotsay was our DH last year. The end. Mark Kotsay didn't come out of the bullpen! I think he was referring to Bobby Jenks running his mouth. On-topic: I say go with trial by fire, throw Chris Sale out there as the closer, if he fails, the job is Matt Thornton's to lose. If Thornton fails.. the White Sox are screwed.

QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 13, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) I'm finding photos with non-logo navy versions of the white "America" World Series cap, but I don't see any retro caps. Yeah! That cap is basically the opposite or road version of the "1906" cap.. All navy with white stripes.. It seems like it came and went pretty frequently in the early 1900s, but I can't find any replicas produced. I love the simple look of it. I'd snag one of those in a heartbeat, given the chance.

Thanks SoxTalk homies!

QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) So, I was at the Cooperstown on the Road exhibit at the Henry Ford museum a few years ago. I saw the 1917 Red, White, and Blue flag jersey. I believe that it had a matching cap as well, but I don't recall how it looked. Here's the pic: http://image56.webshots.com/56/2/66/84/466...84IahYqN_fs.jpg Ah. It's cap #5 on your top row. I love the Red/White/Blue flag jerseys from the 1917 world series, as well as the turn back the clock version of that jersey that the White Sox wore in 2001. That cap is one of my favorites because of it's history. I get a forbidden page when I try to access the image you linked though.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) Face To Face is playing the Bottom Lounge on May 5th and I already know I can't go. I am beyond disappointed. One of my favorite bands playing at that small and intimate of a room? That would be great. Damnit. I saw Face To Face at House Of Blues probably 8-10 years ago. I pretty much got my ass kicked, but it was a hell of a show.

Milledge makes more sense. The Sox need a proven outfielder off of the bench. Teahen doesn't qualify as that. Milledge could slide in for any of the 3 starting outfielders pretty well and bring some useful offensive tools with him.
-
I think it's going to come down to Lillibridge or Milledge. Both have a lot of pros and cons. I have a feeling Milledge is going to win the slot and thrive with the White Sox though. Being on a team with other strong personalities will probably cause him to tone down some of his character issues.
-
Samardzija settles in and gets the last outs. Ohman, Crain, and Thornton looked great. Nice to see Milledge get some good contact on the ball at the end there.
-
Milledge pops a 2 run homer to right after Gartrell hit an RBI double. 4-3 cubbies in the 9th.
-
Pena homer... Mark's letting his pitches hang a bit.

It's Hawk and Stone... I've never been so happy to hear Hawk's voice.

Viciedo fractures thumb during ST game on HBP
TheChrisSamsa replied to ScottyDo's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) Viciedo has a fractured right thumb. F***. f***. indeed. -
QUOTE (Mr. Showtime @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) I'd have to assume that at this price he is going to be the closer. What it really does is keep him off of the closer's market in free agency. Regardless of how the Sox use him, he has proven he's valuable enough to get this type of paycheck.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) You are the MVP of the offseason, my friend. Has anyone seriously brought more knowledge to this board since Peavy went down? The answer is no. I also am in agreement with this. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I feel like I should post this late at night so I can't claim sobriety, but is the MLB "Batter Man" logo a silhouette of the back of a righty, or a silhouette of the front of a lefty. One of life's great mysteries..

Most Remarkable Sports Moment
TheChrisSamsa replied to SoxFan1's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 2, 2011 -> 04:13 PM) All of 05 is just a moment by itself for me. But anyways, I know it's kind of lame since they ended up getting knocked out next round but Donovan's goal last summer in the WC to send the Americans to the knock out stage was amazing for me, personally. I don't like soccer.. actually I kind of hate it, but I was watching this game, and I got REALLY excited when that goal happened.. I could only imagine what it felt like to someone emotionally involved in it. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 2, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) Devin Hester owned it every time he touched the ball his rookie year. Awe-inspiring. The SB 41 kickoff return was a great moment. I watched this on a bunny-ear antenna TV on my way out of work.. it actually felt like the Bears were going to win.. for that moment. I have two moments, both in recent memory. One is Buehrle's perfect game. I'll never forget yelling at my mom to get her ass downstairs to see the last inning. I had only seen the end of one other no-hitter live (Wilson Alvarez, 1991), and I had never watched an entire no-hitter from beginning to end, much less a perfect game, so this was my first time really feeling the excitement build and it was thrilling. My other is Roy Halladay's no-hitter in the playoffs. It was another one of those times that I didn't even expect to finish watching the game, but it was on in the background while I was getting ready to take my lady out for her birthday. As we were about to leave, it was the 7th inning and what was going on had finally triggered. She came into the room and she could tell I was watching something intently, so she looked at the TV as the boxscore showed up and she goes "holy s***! no hitter!" So, we watched the rest of the game and went to dinner about an hour and a half later than we had anticipated. This was the first time outside of the end of a World Series that I actually got really excited for something happening for someone other than a White Sox player. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 12:55 AM) So I forgot to set my Rankings and just saw my team... C John Jaso (TB - C) 1B Miguel Cabrera (Det - 1B) 2B Freddy Sánchez (SF - 2B) 3B Pablo Sandoval (SF - 1B,3B) SS Jimmy Rollins (Phi - SS) LF Ángel Pagán (NYM - LF,CF,RF) CF --empty-- RF Justin Upton (Ari - RF) Util Ian Desmond (Was - SS) SP Ted Lilly (LAD - SP) SP Brian Matusz (Bal - SP) SP Bronson Arroyo (Cin - SP) SP Brian Duensing (Min - SP,RP) SP Jeremy Guthrie (Bal - SP) RP Brian Wilson (SF - RP) RP Joakim Soria (KC - RP) RP Evan Meek (Pit - RP) RP Tyler Clippard (Was - RP) RP Takashi Saito (Mil - RP) RP Peter Moylan (Atl - RP) BN Logan Morrison (Fla - LF) BN Lance Berkman (StL - 1B) BN Orlando Cabrera (Cle - SS) BN José López (Col - 3B) BN Logan Ondrusek (Cin - RP) BN Bruce Chen (KC - SP,RP) That is a good lineup and bullpen. A bit weak of a bench and rotation, but I can see the rotation pulling through. Added Jon Jay for CF. Hope he can be a good pickup. You certainly have strength in relief pitching, Wilson and Soria should carry you to winning most weeks in saves.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 06:28 PM) Hey, saw your pic on strictlyfitteds.com. Very nice. But anywho, yeah. I think I had a good draft. I guess we'll see once the season starts. I'm pretty sure strictlyfitteds posts anything that's sent to them, but it's cool to get a rise out of people because I bent all the brims. I feel like my draft was great, but I wouldn't doubt that in 2 months, I'm winless and considering scrap-heaping an entire team... and I suddenly really hope Matt Thornton is the closer of the Sox this year.
-
I actually feel pretty good about my team.. except I'm not really sure why I drafted Boone Logan (beer), and I don't have a dependable power guy. I've got speed for days though, anyone looking for some SBs, I've got em!
-
QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 4, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) Yep. Just got home and watched him pitch. He still stands to high during the follow through and puts stress on his arm for deceleration. If he would bend more at the waist and get his chest parallel to the ground he would be better off. However, he did not drop too low during any pitch. All that being said, it was a very encouraging outing. We'll just need to see how he is feeling tomorrow. They had a nice side view of Jake's mechanics on MLB Tonight about 45 minutes after the game tonight. It was very brief, and only one pitch, but you could see him consciously following through, bringing his back leg forward after a very brief hesitation.
