Just say no, to Scott Podsednik!

One By One was indeed alot more mellow that I thought would come from Foo, thats very true. And I DO wish the group would start getting back to the loud rock roots that most of us thought were gonna symbolize what Foo was. As for RHCP, yeah well not sure anyone could pay me to listen to that group. Been avoiding them like the plague for years.
-
I'm not sure how you can knock the Foo really...Grohl is one of my favorite guys in the music industry...I see alot of people knocking alot of what I would consider pretty good music, and I wonder if its because some bands get so popular that they get shuffled into the mainstream, so thats not 'cool' anymore, or what. Its like bands are supposed to stay 'garage band' style and forego success in the name of keeping the "I knew them when they were just starting out and smalltime!!" type 'fans' happy...I'll never understand it.

Oh, there are times when he is hard to listen to I agree. I watched some documentary stuff on AOL once when Audioslave was recording "Shadow On the Sun" for the 1st album....ouch..he sounded horrid while getting the yelling near the end of the song down. Sadly now, 2 of the last 5 bands I've seen live are now defunct...I think I'm a curse. First was Weezer and now Audioslave...look out Foo, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Seether, you may be next!!

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 16, 2007 -> 01:20 AM) That first audioslave album was awful, Tom Morello reduced to rhythm guitar? It was like the worst parts of Rage and the worst parts of Soundgarden put together. Well, I'm not sure how anyone could think Cornell was "the worst part of Soundgarden"...The man can flat out sing, and it always seemed to me that Morello depended on gimmicky riffs and solos that didn't necessarily go with Cornells style. If you think Cornell is crap, I implore you to go listen to all of "Euphoria Morning", his 1st solo CD....it was absolutely amazing, and a completely different style. I can't wait until his 2nd solo CD comes out. QUOTE(shipps @ Feb 16, 2007 -> 02:25 AM) They had teamed up with DeLaRocha and fed off his unbelievable talents for a while. Those talents being... "f*** our government!!" "f*** our current regime!!" repeat x100000 ? Now THERES talent!!

QUOTE(Cali @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) City of Evil is good, but Avenged Sevenfold were way better in the Waking the Fallen days. His scream was so intense on that CD, it's a shame he decided to go another direction. I saw them the day of the California Recall Election in '03 and they blew me away. I had gotten Waking the Fallen a few weeks earlier, btu had only given it a few spins, but the second I got home from the concert I put the thing on and gave it a proper listen. Second Heartbeat with screams is so much better than the way they do it now... They came in a close second to best band that night though, because Poison the Well were f***ing AMAZING. I can't wait for their new CD. But surely Cali, no matter what type of intense vocal training you do after burst blood vessels around your vocal cords...you are gonna be a bit hesitant to let loose in the same manner after surgery...I like the new style myself for A7X

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 07:06 PM) Not sure if this belongs here or in the Buster, but hey, I'm a mod here, I can always move it if I want! Al Gore is trying to organize a 7 city concert on the scale of or larger than Live Aid/Live 8 to promote action on Climate Change, with a lineup they're saying will "Dwarf" the previous ones. The date is July 7, which means I'll have to figure out some way to tape the thing cause hopefully I'll be getting married on that day. Let's all hope that Pink Floyd decides to give it another go-round...mainly because they were so bloody good at live 8. If you just consider how many quality acts out there that have either strongly supported Gores economical/political views, or would love the opportunity to just spew more venom towards our current regime, I'm sure it could sport an amazing lineup.

Weis has had a major bone to pick with my team of choice, SCar, for quite some time. He feels he should have been offered the job there a while back, and is slighted about it even still. Gary Gray was a huge early commit for us, he was working the phones by his own choice, getting other top state talent to "Come do whats never been done before here" as he was saying. Weis was relentless on the pursuit of Gray, and in the end, wooed him over by going straight to Gray's mom, talking up the wonderful ND education potential. Gray isn't the first SCar commit/potential commit that has been called upon repeatedly by Weis either. I hate this type of recruiting.

Hannah is what I would call a minor headcase...and his academics didn't help him much either...he was only enrolled briefly here at USC...no idea what the whole story is.
-
Johnathan Hannah...theres a name I don't ever need to hear about again...I hope this situation turns out better for both teams here.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 01:11 PM) I know nobody else cares, but UNC is having a ridiculous day. 3 star Devon Ramsey, 4 star Greg Little, 4 star Kevin Bryant, 5 star Marvin Austin, 5 star Dwight Jones, and now 4 star Weslye Saunders all in one day. I don't even know what to say right now, I don't even know what to say, but this makes tonights basketball game almost irrelevant. UNC is indeed having a great day today, but not sure where you got your Saunders info from. His LoI is already in USCs hands.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 07:04 PM) USC and Florida have seperated themselves from the pack with quite possibly the best two classes on paper in history. Teams like Texas, Notre Dame, Tenn, LSU etc have pulled in great classes as well. UNC and Illinois will probably be the suprise teams in the rankings this year. Oklahoma really has taken a hit in this years class, as they didn't have many scholarships, but their star level isn't as high as in the past either. Well considering they are either 5th or 6th in the nation right now with this years class, depending on what service you like, Steve Spurrier and South Carolina have sold themselves to recruits, and filled many needs nicely. It hurt to lose Gray to ND, but I still think he'll regret that decision on down the road. And before the ND folks get in an uproar, NO I don't mean SCar is greater than ND, I mean that Gary Gray was out there recruiting hardcore for Spurrier and SCar after committing himself. Then he gets a little sad because he isn't getting contacted everyday from SCar and such, so he switches sides. Alot of this class coming in for Spurrier had direct contact from Gray, telling them to come join him in doing something thats never been done at SCar. Then he jumps ship.

"Imagine" by A Perfect Circle, and this is coming from a Beatles/Lennon purist. I like the cover.
-
This recruiting class is up to 8th in the nation, with a few 4 and 5 star players left on the board, and 4th in the SEC still!! Such is the life in the best football conference around...

I'll echo Rex on one.. "Hurt"(NIN) by Johhny Cash "Overkill"(Men at Work) by Lazlo Bane "Renegades of Funk"(Afrika Bambaataa) by Rage Against the Machine About all I can think of sitting here at work, though one of the funniest covers I've heard before was in concert a few years back... "Cry Me a River"(Justin Timberlake) by lostprophets

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 7, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) Thanks for that recommendation. Some good stuff. They are god awful live, but the album is very good, imo. I'll agree with those sentiments. I saw them live before I really got into the CD, and...yeah...not a great live show at all.

QUOTE(Fotop @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 12:36 AM) Preach. For a Michigan fan, you're pretty smart. I need a f****ing drink right now...or 20. Let the Fire Rick Minter campaign begin now. Us South Carolina fans coulda told you to avoid Rick Minter at all costs... -
I got the Colts.. no thanks!! LJ is gonna run rampant over Indy
-
You youngsters are supposed to be out being silly and stupid at parties!! Us old timers are supposed to be on the boards only!!

Dallas Green, lead singer of alexisonfire, did a solo project last year under the name "City and Colour" named "Sometimes" Outstanding IMO if you just want to hear a guy and his acoustic guitar, that can really sing, andd hear music in its simplest form. Check it out if you get the chance.
-
Spurrier hates recruiting? Not sure who spread that mistruth years ago at Florida. Now up to 8th overall with this class so far, and 5 star DE Carlos Dunlap still expected to announce USCs way....go get em Spur!

Good signing I think we'll all agree. Uribe is FAR from being out of the woods right now legally anyways, so its a proper insurance policy as well.
-
I'm in a definate minority here I'm sure, but right now I can't get enough of "A Beautiful Lie" by 30 Seconds to Mars. The track "From Yesterday" had me hooked from day one, before it hit the airwaves. I think the Leto brothers, and their pals made a great disc last year, one I listen to alot.

Would you trade Buehrle for Andruw Jones ?
Capn12 replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I want absolutely, positively NO part of Andruw Jones...NONE....I'll take my chances resigning Buehrle over trading for Jones, any day of the week. -
I second Veruca Salt, I still listen to the old Louise Post-led foursome. Fiona Apple is still a fav of mine as well.
