Polonco
QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) True... I guess... it just seems like we get no1 "top playerlike" who can do it all like abreau / arod / pujols / beltran can. but mayb im just being a retard, and asslicking those players to much. i just love players who can do it all like they can, and the sox dont seem to have much of that for past decades. (other then frank thomas. who still couldnt do it all {steal} ) You can count the number of players that are 5 tool successful players on 1 hand. Most teams don't have that type of guy. We have our share of balance at the moment, I like the team build as of now. Might we go out and get a veteran SS fairly cheap if God-forbid Uribe has to miss extended time.

Bears' Draft Earns High Grade
QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) Cedric Benson is awesome, and i dont care what problems he's had in his past.... the guy i saw during his press conference was mature and ready to be a star in this town who loves their football players. How can you argue with 2000 total yards last year and 20 Td's this kid is gonna be a stud. Bradley....is a question mark, but there is a reason why this kid was thought so highly of, his vertical is supposedly sick, and he's a burner to boot. Troy Williamson - drafted 7th by the Vikings... had the same number of touchdown catches that Mark Bradley had in 2004 (7) just something to think about. He also played behind 5 guys who are gonna be NFL recievers. Im excited about this guy. Just my opinion.... but after the initial dissapointment of not getting Mike Williams i gotta give this draft an A- and say that we drafted better than atleast Greenbay and Detroit. Troy Williamson also played in a Lou Holtz run first, run second, pass when we are 10+ points behind offense, WITH no quarterback that could get him teh ball. I'm not discounting Bradleys skills, but Williamson accomplished what he did 95% of his own accord, DESPITE the offense he played in.

chi-guys (Packers Fan)
Sorry, lifetime Green Bay Packers fan here, and diehard ChiSox fan too. Sterling Sharpe was a South Carolina guy, and at the time I had no NFL preference. So thats when I started. I don't hate the Bears or anything, just a bigtime Pack fan.

BCS to open automatic bids to all conferences
there is a happy medium that COULD be reached involving Bowl games AND a playoff...but its not gonna happen. As for the Notre Dame part, While I certainly appreciate the analytical look that was given, the thing that doesn't sit well with me is the whole "We deserve to be rewarded for turning our nose up at joining a conference" outlook. While it is definately not acceptable for the BCS to try and nudge Notre Dame into joining a conference, I also don't think they should be rewarded for staying independent either. Does Central Florida get a cut of the BCS pie no matter what kind of season they have? Does Louisiana Tech? Thats the part that bothers me. And if someone says they deserve it because of their "Football tradition and history" I'm gonna :puke Financial benefit for a 2005 college football season shouldn't be gained because back in 1990 the same program won a National Championship. With that being said, the whole financial reward for conferences with winning teams is f***ed. Hell, what isnt f***ed up with the BCS? But this is what our major conferences voted to put in place, and for right now we have to sit and accept it.

Land of the Dead Trailer now out!!!!
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) More dead people. This is getting a bit played out. Like LCR and Kip said though, when someone like Romero who started the zombie widescreen genre comes back for another go at it, IMO its quite worth teh effort to check it out.

Bears Draft Grade
Curries hands are average at best...moreso quite the pass dropper in his career at Clemson. There is no question about his speed, as he was a track guy here at Clemson also, but a bit small, and stonehanded are the 2 things that would worry me as a Bears fan.

BCS to open automatic bids to all conferences
All that, and the BCS is still a steaming pile of s***. What a joke of a "system" we have in place currently. So what is gonna replace the AP poll now? Is the Coaches Poll, you know the one where coaches don't have to make public their picks, and the wonderful 6 all-knowing computer combilations now gonna each make up 50% of the final BCS aggregate? And Notre Dame gets an automatic entry to the BCS if they finish in the Top 8? And they get BCS money every year no matter what? ARE YOU f***ING KIDDING ME? Hi, lets reward Notre Dame for wanting to greedily keep their share of bowl money and not join a conference, by giving them money every year!! Bulls***. Scrap this s*** already NCAA...oh wait, you are making way too much money to such a thing huh.

Sin City 2 and 3 from Rodriguez and Miller
I enjoyed Sin City. Storyline to me flowed together once it was over and you had time to take it all in. Cinematography(sp?) is amazing. If the content wasn't so graphic, I'm sure it could run the house in terms of awards for it. One of the more original films I've seen in quite some time. The storyline is not a seamless line, maybe thats why some folks don't like it. It uses the "Pulp Fiction-sporadic timeline" theory to tell the story. I enjoyed it, and would see it again. Of course it helped that Jessica Alba was in it, grinding on a pole...

Jermaine Dye or...........
QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) Carl Everett in LF can't be any worse than Dye in RF. Everett LF - Pods CF - Rowand RF Everett in LF and Pods in CF = runners tagging up all day every day. Neither of these guys have the ability to defend those positions in terms of their arms. And I saw Carl make way too many questionable throws and decisions in CF his last go 'round with us. Throwing to teh wrong base, missing cutoff man..no thanks. I just want Dye dropped to 8th or so in teh batting order, we still need him in the OF, depite his sketchy performance in Oakland.

Today's Lineup
Holy Hell...This one leaves me mostly speechless...Crede at SS...well, gotta watch this one. Dear Ozzie, Quit putting Jermaine Dye 5th in the f***ing lineup. Sincerely- Fan of the Sox

Day 2 Draft Thread
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Bears draft Airese Currie. If I recall he's a really fast reciever. I've heard his name before. Reason Currie was drafted where he was, was 2 things. #1- Currie's size is a liability more than an asset. He has top notch speed no doubt, was a track star at Clemson. #2- Hands of Stone. I saw Currie drop many passes during his Clemson career. If not, with his speed he'da been a solid top 3 round WR

Sox @ A's 4-27-05
Moreso, its time to let Timo play in RF today. Let Dye have back to back days off after the debachle that was him in Right Field last night.

Injuries...
IMO you need to worry most about Uribes groin pull/strain/whatever. Not that I don't have faith in Ozuna playing SS if need be, but that only leaves us with Harris on the bench in terms of infielders and Ozuna took a shot off the forearm already, and makes us play a semi-gimpy Crede at 3rd until Uribe is ready. Gooch is getting worn down a bit also, so Harris will spell him tomorrow or next game I'm almost certain. That would leave us with nothing but a non-100% Gooch on the bench and he can only play 2B. Lets hope Herm and the crew can get Uribe back and ready for the game friday, as I don't really expect to see him play tomorrow.

Allow me to list the ways..........
Right. Seeing as its been a s***ty enough night already watching that Oakland debachle, can you guys PLEASE avoid the insults and flames at each other? Do it for me, else thread = poof, and thats not really what I wanna do. Agree to disagree for now or something...

Sox @ A'ss Game Thread (4/26 @ 9:05 p.m. CT)
How about we do a few things here... #1 - Get over the loss. Hey, it happens, will happen alot more this year too! #2 - Enough of this Willie vs. Ozuna s***. Who cares? They both made bad plays tonight, along with a host of others. We will still play a MLB game tomorrow. #3 - Stop this incessant name calling. You have a different opinion than someone else? Great! Thats what is so good about tehse boards. But just because you do, doesnt give you the right to pull the "holier than thou" act and throw derogatory comments at other posters. Stop that s***, theres no room for it. #4 - Breathe....relax....we can still win teh series tomorrow. Garcia on the bump in a role he shines in, day game starter. #5 - Worry about the roster moves concerning Frank Thomas when Frank Thomas is actually semi-close to playing.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) He's the best defensive 2nd baseman on the team so shove it. I'm sick of this s***, a guy makes a bad play and he sucks. Its a 162 game season, errors happen, mistakes happen. Willie's batting over .300 and playing good. He doesn't complain at all and gives his all when he's on the field. Don't cloud all this disillusion with actual fact Jason...the angered masses won't udnerstand it, and will just cover their confusion with more vulgarities! :headshake

Sox @ A'ss Game Thread (4/26 @ 9:05 p.m. CT)
well, it isn't exactly Willie's fault that hes playing a tough position he doesn't normally play. But this game is as big a gift as you'll see...
