  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 12:31 AM) What's the difference beteween a homerun and a single in that situation? Basically nothing. He gave up one hit and shut it down when he had to, he did fine imo. In a 1 run game? The difference is another blown save. Luckily we had a 2 run cushion. My thing is, Shinjo vs. Mauer is a piss-poor matchup for Takatsu. I am a big proponent of letting your closer start the 9th inning and not come into trouble, but thats a matchup that shouldnt have happened.
  2. SEASON TEAM G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS AVG 2005 ChiSox 13 44 3 11 3 0 1 4 13 1 5 0 0 .250 I think Crede is slowly getting it together. For someone who struggled like he has to start the season, he hasnt K'd an awful lot, which IMO means he isn't completely lost up there at the plate.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) You know what, if shingo let up a single tonight we'd be hearing about how good he pitched and the thing is the homerun meant the same damn thing for this game, leave the guy alone today, he did fine. He didn't do fine today, but he wasnt awful either. Mauer owns Shinjo apparently. Now with that being said, I'm not ready to crown Hermy the new closer or anything, I still think its Shinjos job. But next time I see him give up 2+ HRs in a save situation, I'm gonna be sad and ready for Hermy to spell him for a bit.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) Just like Crede, right? Quite the opposite of Crede actually...Crede has had success for the last 9 games or so...Cotts continues to be lost out on the mound...he has been brutal so far out there, but we have no other options that are MLB ready in AAA. So I continue to hope he straightens things out and soon.
  5. Pods arms is average at the best. He doesnt have the arm to play Centerfield. Hell if we gotta pick someone to ride the bench as of right now, my man is Jermaine Dye. He has shown me very little, and has had many 0-fer days already. Everett is not great in the outfield at all, but a guy who has a hot bat but average defense overrules decent defense but s***ty bat right now in our offense.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 08:18 AM) Four words for Ozzie, which I guess he still can't translate, SHUT THE f*** UP! Seriously. Ozzie, shut the f*** up and let it go. We are playing winning baseball right now, despite your best efforts to lead us astray with horrid managing moves. :headshake Quit trying to get publicity with this type of s*** Guillen, seriously.
  7. Moreso a frame of mind than an actuality wite. Winning 2 outta every 3 is just how I always think. Is it possible? yes Is it likely? maybe not but its a great theory
  8. problem is by the time the offense comes around, the pitching will go into a funk...its the ups and downs of baseball....but we'll keep on keepin on, and as long as we win series, thats all that matters.
  9. Timo is crap. $1 mill for someone in a roster spot that we coulda just used someone from the system. bad spending there IMO, but hey, I'll be glad to eat those words and see Timo have many clutch hits for us this year. Alas, get me Pods back in the lineup already!
  10. WCIU...such a waste of good Sox baseball!! Guess I'll be watching it on mlb.tv again. Contemplating a trip up to Chicago sometime soon, although last time I came up, I drove by myself and swore I'd never do it again...but its the Sox! No splits in this series, lets take both of these games guys!
  11. Some of us are here at odd times, like myself, and YASNY also..being a 3rd shift worker, I'm on the forums all night when most of you are sleeping...Big Brother has to work 24/7 ya know!
  12. "I Predict a Riot" by Kaiser Chiefs "Stockholm Syndrome" by Muse
  13. Buehrle now at 85 pitches through 7 innings... reason I say so, I fell more comfortable with him in there in the 9th with a 1 run lead, than I do with Shinjo. Good ole Mark Buehrle just dealing, again...
  14. No idea why Timo is batting leadoff...ugh...not that we have tons of options at leadoff without Pods. Hurry back Pods, I can't take watching Timo Perez!
  15. I've got Jonny G. in at about 15-10, 4.00 ERA...and ya know what, that is plenty for me to be happy.
  16. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) So maybe we had 5 wins... Why would we want to drudge up these memories. Point being, 10 games into the season and we have 40% of the total 5th starter wins that we got last year. With Garland slotted in that 5th starter spot, we have a VERY solid staff.
  17. AJ not gonna play alot of day games after night games IMO. Thats alot to ask for someone that will be your main backstop. Buehrle is straight dealing right now.... oh yeah, :puke Timo Perez
  18. I have to give other people a chance to make em too Cheat!! The Sox are now 3-0 when I make the Gameday thread! Go Buehrle, lets sweep these asshats! I have much hate for Seattle, thanks to 2000
  19. As of right now, outside of Everett...there is no one on the Sox that i WANT up at the plate with RISP...and thats saying something.
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 03:53 AM) So his first half of last season doesn't count? He had 58 K's and 30 BB's last season. Improvement as teh season progressed? Sure, he is struggling..he is also just turning 25 and in his 2nd season of MLB level competition.
  21. The kid is in his 2nd full year in the Big leagues...some guys take longer to adjust than others. Not like we have a plethora of relief guys in Charlotte who have proven that they deserve a shot in teh bigs.
  22. After a successful 4-2 road trip, our Sox head back to the friendly confines of Comsik--err, U.S. Cellular Field for 3 against the Mariners- fresh off a 3 game sweep of KC in KC, and 2 against our hated rival Twinkies. A 3-2 or even better 4-1 homestand would be huge, seeing as how Minny has already caught us and are tied for 1st place. 23. Yep, showed me that Crede his .261 2 years ago, and .239 last year when his swing was f***ed. Also showed me that Crede plays a very solid third base defensively, better option than we've had since Ventura there. Is he the 2nd coming of Brooks Robinson? No, not even close. but he is a more than serviceable MLB 3rd baseman, who seems to have trouble not falling back into his long swing habits sometimes.
  24. As opposed to Dye and Uribe who are setting the baseball world on fire offensively right?
  25. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) He's hitting .226 right now but I'm sure he will be below the Mendoza Line after tomorrow night. Credepopsitup. Funny, Crede is hitting the same or HIGHER than AJ Pierzynski, Jermaine Dye, Jose Uribe, and 0.003 points below AaRow. Let the Crede bashing have a couple days off, until he does something stupid like dive for a ball coming his way!! OMG what is he doing?!?! :headshake
