  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 11:04 AM) The most interesting thing here is the description of the review process internally. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...-shift-strategy Stone said last night, there are actually a couple of views NY gets that neither teams' replay guys get. That seems silly to me. Just give the replay guys the exact same thing they will see in NY.
  2. Castro has more hits than Pete Rose at the same age.
  3. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 09:55 AM) Ole Dick Allen would remind me of our "great" treasurer Rita.. She puts us on the map after everyone forgot about Ronald Reagan's hometown. Hell we are now known more for Rita then we are The Gipper. My favorite was that $2 million mobile home.
  4. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) My best advice is to not live in Dixon. They used to have a great Treasurer.
  5. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 08:15 AM) Let's keep this one-game winning streak going! Lol When it's all you have, you go with it.
  6. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 08:11 AM) Just seems to me that when this team can make a mistake, it does. And seeing them on paper versus how its translating to on field play is frustrating. So far, that's how it's gone. I don't think it will continue for much longer. It was nice of the Cleveland OF to let Melky's ball drop for a hit instead of a SF.
  7. Royals sold 63,000 $1 hot dogs Friday night. Their fans are not happy: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-231154948.html
  8. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 07:54 AM) While it was nice to see them win, I still have little faith in this team. Innings 1-8 were an absolute mess, and if they think they can put together that 1 solid inning to save them every day, they have another thing coming...not to mention, try that against the Royals and see how many runs you score through that pen. Happy they won...but still not believing. This team still can't field for s***, constantly giving other teams 4 outs per inning, walking batters left and right. Yea, I'm raining on your little parade here. I think the bullpen is nails now. The offense can't possibly continue to be as bad as it's been. Q and Samardzija have to be better. Rodon will eventually move into the rotation. The defense is a huge concern. IMO the Sox worst defenders are Gillaspie, Avi, and Micah, and it seems the opposition hits a lot of balls their way. I have no idea what the pump fake from Avi was last night. I have never seen it, but when he was acquired less than 2 years ago, it was thought he could be a CF. His defense is definitely trending down. Hopefuly these guys can step it up and be adequate.
  9. QUOTE (VAfan @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) Better than 2005? That was a very successful bullpen in part because the starters were all so strong that they didn't have to tax themselves too much. But it would be VERY hard to top the record the 2005 club had in 1-run games. Edit -- you are saying since 2005, not better than 2005. Possibly. Have to think about it longer. I said since. You can't say anything was better than that bullpen until they win.
  10. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 07:45 AM) How about that Robin Ventura!!! Made great moves putting in Flowers and Beckham and pitched his closer in the ninth to hold the deficit at 3 so we could come back and catch them. Yes, he clearly outmanaged Francona. Nice job RV. Beckham hitting .400, and it's not just what he's hit, it's when he hit it. May be a time to talk extension.
  11. That was a sweet win. I have heard the Indians have quite an advantage in the AL Central from the managerial position. Leaving Aviles in CF and letting your closer give up 6 hits would be considered a fireable offense in these parts.
  12. You have got to be bleepn me. Go Sox. Maybe this is the game that turns everthing around.
  13. This could be the 6th time out of 12 the Sox offense scores 1 run or less.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) So we have a RF who can't hit for power or field. He is worse in the OF than he was in 2014, which was worse than he was in 2013. Hopefully he will hit enough to DH when LaRoche is gone.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 08:37 PM) The homers are frustrating, but this hasn't been a bad game for Danks. It shiuld be 2-0. Unfortunately Avi shows us each day his future is without a glove.
  16. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) That would be another organizational failure. They should have gotten The Big Hurt to be the hitting coach. But KW burned that bridge What would make Frank a good hitting coach, and why would he agree to be a hitting coach, the biggest pain in the ass job in baseball?
  17. It is amazing how many times the ball finds Gillaspie and Garcia .
  18. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 08:26 PM) Now a bum homers. So easy for them It was a wind blown flyball. It would be nice if the Sox would hit one.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 08:22 PM) Holy f*** Alexei I think it was a bad call.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 07:10 PM) Where did he play in 2012, 2013, 2014 in the Sox minor league system? 2011 55 games at SS, 4 at 2B 2012 80 games at SS, 24 at 2B 2013 44 games at 2B, 23 games at 3B, 73 games at SS So you've made the decision he's a terrible SS and 3B? Wonderful, he'd only played 3B 23 times in the minors before the White Sox just stuck him out there at the major league level. At the position he has the third most experience. Makes a lot of sense to help build up the confidence of your players by doing so. And Paul Komerko was a catcher then a 3B, Carlos Lee played 3B so did Viciedo. Tim Raines was a 2B. He is on about a 40 error pace this year. He was an awful 3B last year. Just because someone plays a position doesn't mean they are good at it.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 05:45 PM) Classic. I'm trolling when you're just making stuff up now. Guess what position he's playing with Oakland now? Hint, it's not 3B. Why do the White Sox insist on playing young players out of position, such as Beckham at 3B or Viciedo having to go through four different position changes in his early career when he should have been allowed to focus on just one or two (at most)? Should I start a thread to second guess every decision ever made so I have an official response you can look up and reference? Should I set my alarm here in China to wake up at 1-3 every morning to chime in when something happens in US time? Now that I think about it, since none of us are working in the front office, why is anyone here qualified to second guess the front office when they were hired to run a professional baseball team to the best of their ability by Jerry Reinsdorf? Can't every single thread just go back and forth debating over this important point? I' m making stuff up? He played mostly 3B with the White Sox. He is a horrible SS.
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) This really really saddens me. I love him on the radio with the Bears post game. Really gonna miss his personality. Bears losses weren't so difficult to take listening to him and OB go nuts. From what I have been told, Buffone was a really nice guy.
