  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) I think he's terrible, but again, it's a hard argument to win. That said, for the people that don't want a managerial change (now or if things get really bad), what is it about Robin Ventura that makes him a good and qualified manager? It surprises me that he has so many people's support when all he's done is get hired for being the anti-Ozzie, blowing a division lead in 2012, and losing 188 games the last two seasons. I cannot prove that Ventura is to blame for all of this, but if there was ever a manager to replace for the sake of replacing, Robin Ventura is that guy. Gardenhire lost 188 games the last 2 seasons which is an improvement from the 195 he lost the 2 years before that.
  2. The Cubs have scored 3 runs in 3 games with the great Joe Maddon. They should fire him.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 06:26 PM) I would have agreed with you until I watched the 2011-2014 Chicago White Sox. I saw 3 teams that were complacent, happy, and not worked hard in spring training and I saw 3 teams that disappointed and were uncompetitive. I also saw one team that came out firing on all cylinders from day 1, with some of the best fundamentals I've ever seen from a ballclub, and that team was only kept from a division title by the fact that their kids and veterans broke down from exhaustion at the end of the year. Most of the same players from 2011 fixed problems in 2012 and then the same players from 2012 fell apart in 2013 and looked like a clown show. Maybe the one who set the standard too high is Robin Ventura 2012, but this is the 3rd year in a row I've looked at the team starting out week 1 and said "What the hell did we do different in 2012 and why aren't we doing that again?" After 4 games 2012. 2-2 2013. 2-2 2014. 2-2
  4. Cooper did a helluva job with the pitching staff.
  5. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) Flowers with another hack throw If the throw was perfect, he was still safe.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 05:56 PM) Wanting a change in manager is a hard argument to win. Robin is a bad manager. He just is. Not according to the advanced stats.
  7. I hope they can keep it at 3. The Sox hit Perkins pretty well last year.
  8. Drabek warming up for white flag time,
  9. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 05:47 PM) Tommy Milone's face looks like somebody put it through one of those algorithms that ages your face. He looks like the goalie on a dart team.
  10. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 05:40 PM) if I have to see Beckham and flowers hit back-to-back again, I'm gonna lose it. Hitting back to back, they have accounted for 4 of the 7 runs the Sox have scored this year.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) And it's been like this 3 of the 4 years of this manager. The only time it wasn't was in his first year - they came out ready to play from day 1. The next 3 years they seemingly overslept after ST. The last 2 years, they won their first 2 games, and until this year, since this is game 4, they started every season since Robin has been the manager 2-2. So again, you are ignoring facts.
  12. I know Flowers is a punching bag, but blaming him for that ball getting away is incredible. Noesi had his moments, but if his control doesn't improve, he won't be a White Sox for very lomg.
  13. It is time to fire Greg Walker.
  14. If it was Robin's fault the team sucked the last 2 years, how do you look at Garenhire's last 4 years and say he is an upgrade?
  15. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) 2 HR's each for Abreu and Garcia. Melky would be my pick to click today.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) So lame Are they doing the introductions with the Chevy trucks?
  17. Wind should be blowing out to LF. A little spooky with Noesi on the bump. As the Stone Pony says, a lively ballpark.
  18. Tiger makes the cut. -2.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) Evan Gattis one upped Brett Lawrie. 17 pitches, 4 strikeouts on Wednesday, 17 pitches, 4 strikeouts on Thursday. 8 straight strikeouts on 34 pitches I remember Ron Kittle striking out 10 or 11 times in a row, but I think he did take a few pitches out of the zone. That's just ridiculous, and these guys are supposed to be good hitters. Kitlle was a crappy hitter who could hit it a mile.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 02:19 PM) Not a conclusion. Just believe, given the roster composition, that the money could have been spent much more effectively. Remember we also had the Keppinger outlay of money for the very same role. You aren't writing the checks. You really don't need to worry about $4 million. That's nothing. The White Sox turned quite a profit last year according to Forbes. JR has said he only wants to break even. If that is correct, he could lose a pretty penny this season and still be ahead of where he wants to be over the past 2 seasons. They have said every dime that comes in goes out. If they made $31 million last year, that's 310,000,000 dimes that didn't go out after all the dimes came in.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 02:09 PM) Hahn really needed Sanchez, Beckham, Bonifacio, Saladino and Leury? Seems he was too quick to sign Bonifacio, and for too much money. Could have been used to shore up that bullpen, for example. Maybe he will make more sense with an outfield injury (Eaton specifically), but its a bit of a head scratcher. While I don't think Bonifacio is as good as some make it out to be, coming to conclusions right before the 4th game of the season is beyond ridiculous. s*** happens. Bonifacio will get his time.
  22. I'll give these tacos a whirl. At the old park they had tacos in the area under the LF seats. They were pretty dope, but never made the trip across the street.
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 11:29 AM) When did I blame Ventura for anything? Hahn is the one who put him on the roster. Adam Dunn had a 2.000 OPS after Opening Day 2011. What a great signing that was! #funwithsamplesizes You are complaining he is getting his second start. Obviously the first one was the correct call. Considering the White Sox offense has managed only 1 run in the games he hasn't played, maybe some guys in that line up shouldn't be playing. Beckham could go 4-4 with 4 home runs and this site would find something wrong with it.
  24. QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) 3 for 8 with a homer and 2 strikeouts against a guy is about as uninformative as a sample gets, and one of his hits Wednesday was a swinging bunt. I get that Beckham is a better choice than Gillaspie but he shouldn't just be an automatic start against lefties. And the reason is because he suuuUUUCKS GOD IT'S SO AGGRAVATING. Seriously though, he hasn't done jack **** to earn these plate appearances over Bonifacio. Bonifacio's pathetic defense this spring is probably what is costing him.
