QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 09:14 AM) I thought Hub was too negative then he basically called the last two years being a failure, with a lack of talent that required a rebuild, and trestman would fail. He also said last year, anyone thinking Seattle is a good football team needs to study them a little more. Hub has some insight, but there is no question he is still bitter he isn't in the Bears booth. I doubt he will ever let that go. There really is a negative on just about every player, coach or executive they bring in. Hub was kind to Pace, but I really think he would have a problem with just about anyone the Bears bring in to coach. He is the one saying it is one of the worst jobs available. Then he expects them to bring in the best candidate of them all. -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 08:57 AM) Because the ONLY thing Viciedo offers is power, and it's power he rarely gets to show because he doesn't make solid contact. He can't field. He can't walk. He can't run. He can't even speak. And if the Sox traded someone decent for Pedro Alvarez, who basically is pretty much the same, and the Sox paid him a million or so more, the same gripers would say it was well worth the gamble, and would say he wasn't so expensive. People value other teams' crap a lot more than they value the White Sox crap. That is certain.

I don't think Dunn would want to coach, and why would he want to coach in a place he heard so many boos? I predict he weighs more than Stacey King in 3 years.
-
Why is spending $2 million for Paulino, $3 million for Belisario and $4 million for Scott Downs, smart, reasonablY cheap lottery ticket type deals, but risking basically less than $1 million and at most $4.4 million for a 25 year old with Viciedo's power, just a total waste of money?

From what I have read is he is from a big union family and the players union would want him to maximize his dollars. IMO, he may sign an extension, but it won't be at a discount. If I were the GM, I wouldn't be too comfortable with a 9 figure contract for him.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 11:03 AM) They need a top 15 QB to have any chance of going anywhere. They may make the playoffs once or twice, but they aren't going very far. Unless they get a QB. They are also in the division with Tom Brady and Ryan Tannehill, who has gotten better every year. Rex Grossman made it to the Super Bowl. The Super Bowl quality QB is overrated. If the rest of the team is outstanding, a guy who can manage the game can win it all. Trent Dilfer has a ring. -

I heard on the radio today that Marrone still gets paid by the Bills even though he opted out. This can't be true can it? -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 06:41 AM) If the ground can't cause a fumble, I just feel that if Dez caught the ball, cuffed it, and took a few steps before the ground knocked it out, it should've been ruled a catch. He had control of the ball. It wasn't wobbly as he headed to the ground. Rule needs to be fine tuned. Which playoff game was it where a back caught a pass, fell untouched, started rolling to advance the ball, got hit, ball out, recovered by other team, and refs gave it back to the offense. I understand being down, but if you go down, untouched, and still try and advance the ball then get hit and ball pops out, that should be a fumble in my eyes. Rant over. The ground can cause a fumble in the NFL. However, most of the time, the player would be down by contact. The only argument is did he have possession long enough before he went down (he did take a couple of steps before he went down, but he was falling when making the catch ), and if you go by the rule, no. It's a crappy rule. But it is the rule. IMO, they called it correctly, and I really hate the Packers. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 10, 2015 -> 12:19 PM) I can still hear the "Oh no" from game 2 when Iguchi's ball went under their 2b's glove. Iguchi hit the ball into the seats.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) Has it ever sold out this early? I am not even sure if it has ever sold out. I think all the worlds collided perfectly for this. Higher expectations for the team. 2005 World Champs to be celebrated, and people who haven't gone in years now see the prices make sense. thanks, Dick.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 9, 2015 -> 08:35 AM) You need a nasal steroid like nasacort. It will clear it up and prevent sickness. And make him a 40 homer guy.

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) I'm sure the Sox would like to keep him in Charlotte but it's up to Jordan if he wants to stay stuffed in Charlotte. If he clears waivers and is outrighted, does he have the ability at this point to refuse the assignment? I don't think he does. thanks, Dick. -
Jordan Danks sucks. It really amazes me his probable imminent departure causes any angst at all. He is a 0 WAR guy. Very replaceable. Thanks, Dick.

I an certain Viciedo will be gone but it would be great to have someone on the bench who could hit one into the seats.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 03:33 PM) Thank you, Dick You ' re welcome. Thanks, Dick

Ultimately, it's Jordan Danks. Who cares. thanks, Dick.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 02:18 PM) So Viciedo is definitely staying with the team then I really doubt it. thanks, Dick.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) You are making a lot of assumptions about what happened at the meeting and what they talked about. A high level employee like a head coach should be familiar with all levels of management and him meeting them when he was available makes a lot of sense. You are also making a lot of assumptions. The method has been unsuccessful in the past. How do you know Accorsi interviewed the coaches? The only report was he was not part of the interview for at least one. So unless Pace had been hired and was in the room, George and Ted were conducting an interview for a HC. That is just silly. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 01:59 PM) Why wouldn't they meet him? Meet them fine. But this was supposedly an interview. As I have stated, IMO ideally, Ted and George come in when it is decided who Accorsi wants to hire as the GM, and when it is decided who the new GM wants to be his coach. Then they can ask the questions about living arrrangements, contract details, etc. They don't need to be asking about offensive philosophies. It has been tried, and proven to be a failure. Let them handle the business end. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 01:30 PM) If you saw my other post, by interviewing candidates of playoff teams who had bye weeks, if said teams stay in the playoffs, you are actually able to re-interview them during the bye week between the conference championships and the superbowl. If you didn't interview them during the initial bye week, you have to wait until after the superbowl to interview them again. By meeting with candidates with the Seahawks / Broncos, we basically gave ourselves a shot at having our GM meet with them during the bye week. Otherwise, first shot we'd have at those candidates (if we were interested), would be after the superbowl (which I certainly wouldn't want us making our first impressions that late). But if Accorsi is a paid consultant, and interviewed them, wouldn't that count? I don't think he did interview the coaches, and I think he should have. IMO, unless you are talking contract, George and Ted talking to a potential coach is worthless. Regardless, Accorsi should have done the interviewing and Ted and George could have sat in and listened. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) How do you know he hasnt interviewed this candidates already? You are making alot of assumptions. If the GM is hiring the coach and Accorsi has interviewed the candidate, what is the purpose of said candidate going to Halas Hall to anwers questions from Geoge and Ted? What questions are they asking? If it is ANYTHING football related, NOTHING HAS CHANGED AT HALAS HALL. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 11:42 AM) I was talking with a couple people yesterday who didn't know what cassette tapes were so I know I'm old ha. If anyone wants to feel old, just read some of the comments Kanye's fans have about Paul McCartney. Many have no idea who he is, and think Kanye doing some collaboration with him, is being really nice getting him some attention, and making an unknown a little cash.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) This would be nice. I am really afraid the Bears are going to come out of left field with some crazy hire of every one we would least expect for both GM and coach. LOL Dave McGinnis is available. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 12:34 PM) Alright...I'm going to do some Steve like reporting and decide that we will hear that our new GM, Chris Ballard, was part of the Bowles interview. By the end of today we will know who are GM is (I think the Bears brass already knows) and if the Bears like what they hear from Bowles, they will make an aggressive push to stop him from visiting the Niners / Falcons later on. It would be awesome if their new GM is now part of the process, but a pipedream IMO Bowles would take the job if offered.. Why would Bowles blow off the 49ers and Falcons for the Bears, which is considered the worst job of the 3? -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 12:17 PM) In a functioning company whether successful or not the CEO and President should have earned the title because they know the business. George and Ted do not know the business they have proven that. And if Accorsi isn't asking these candidates questions, exactly what is his purpose? Just to get names? These names were all pretty well known since Emery and Trestman were still Bears employees. George and Ted interviewing someone for football position is like Derrick Rose interviewing potential rocket scientists. IT MAKES NO SENSE. Have Accorsi interview these guys, give his recommondation, and then bring Ted and George in to see if they are comfortable with the dollars and personality. They shouldn't be asking football questions. They have proven they aren't qualified to do that.
