  1. Thompson, Beli, Petricka, Surkamp, Guerra, Webb, Rienzo. That's the bullpen. Pretty sad.
  2. Just as soon as this game is over, I will tell you how Robin should have used his bullpen today.
  3. BTW, last night was a Frank Thomas HOF plaque giveaway. What was interesting to me was they were limited edition and numbered. The giveaway is 20,000. They were numbered 1 of 23,500. They give every full season ticket account a box filled with at least one of each giveaway during the season. You have to think they make a few extra anyway, but it does give you an idea of about how many fullseason accounts they have, if they are giving away 20k and need some left over for the full season packages.
  4. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) Supposably they're saying it wasn't the wrist that it's the elbow but yea hope it's nothing They let you amour yourself up, and they weigh nothing. I really don't know why all hitters don't take advantage of that.
  5. Roger Bossard"s forecasting skills suck. They have delays over an hour waiting for it to rain, then start a game that goes into a delay with 1 out in the first.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 10:52 AM) Am I way off base when I say it just doesn't scare me that much? Can Love and Kyrie play 2nd fiddle? I guess I'm not convinced. Could be wrong. I think when it is LeBron or MJ or Bird or Magic, someone of that ilk, I think guys like Love and Irving can play 2nd fiddle. Someone a little closer to their level, and there could be problems. I could be wrong too. But it is obviously LeBron's team.
  7. QUOTE (VAfan @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 12:43 AM) I would count tonight's loss to the Twins as another game blown by the bad managing of Robin Ventura. What is Bellisario doing coming in to start the 8th inning at home with a two run lead? The last time Carroll pitched against the Twins, just last week, Robin brought in Bellisario in the 7th inning with a 1-run lead. Guess what happened then? No outs, 3 baserunners, all of whom scored, in a 4-3 loss. That's the game that started this thread in the first place. (Only most of the criticism was focused on the way Ventura mismanaged the offense in the 9th, rather than the mistaken turn to Bellisario in a tight game.) Tonight, with only one inning to get to the Sox closer, Robin turns to THE WORST CHOICE. It's maddening. Sox should have won both games, and be a game over .500, instead of 3 games under. Just on THESE TWO GAMES. Of course, they aren't the only ones. Who should he have used? Except for Guerra, every relief pitcher he has put in the game the last 2 nights has been really shaky, and Guerra had pitched a couple games in a row. Why don't you post a chart showing exactly when each relief pitcher should be used, so we all can be witness to your baseball genius.
  8. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 3, 2014 -> 12:10 AM) We would probably be right in the wild card race if it wasn't for this bullpen... We could have gotten to 4.5 back if we would of won 8 losses whenleading in the 8th. 6 when leading in the 9th, is pretty poor. I think 3 would be at least average. It is the number of games the DBacks have lost in Addison Reed's save appearances. 3 games better puts you in 2nd place for the final WC .
  9. 29 years ago today is when Fisk tagged out 2 Yankees in one play
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 08:34 PM) I've never made that claim. You've criticized anyone critical of Robin, and asked them to state criticisms prior to Robin's moves backfiring. Now when we do so, you're acting like we're assholes for disagreeing with him in advance of the result occurring. I'm not sure what the hell you want anyone to do. I love when you make things up. Just pointing out every criticism before the result the last 3 games was wrong and not one time did the critic admit they were wrong. You are the only one who thinks you were still correct so you think you are smarter than everyone else.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 08:27 PM) I'm not sure how one can prove a sac bunt was more wrong than when the next like 5 guys get RBI hits, but hey, you keep on being the smartest guy in the room. You are the one claiming to be the smartest guy in the room. Unfortunately for you the guy whose decisions matter is smarter than you.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 08:13 PM) We're crushing the ball though this inning...the sac bunt is the only easy out they've gotten. And he could have crushed a grounder to SS for a DP and at best this game would be tied. I will say this, even though the Robin critics have ventured out and criticized before the final result they are 0 for 5 the past 3 games and have yet to admit being wrong.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 08:13 PM) We're crushing the ball though this inning...the sac bunt is the only easy out they've gotten. LMAO
  14. Carroll did a good job saving the bullpen and keeping the team in the game after a rough start.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 06:26 PM) Carroll in the White Sox rotation and any role besides mop up isn't much better. Eaton continuing to rake, that's over .300, right? This game again headed for 3 1/2 - 4 hours, Red Sox/Yankees territory. Accidental advance of the runner/productive out by Beckham. Not sure if congrats? Milone has nearly a 40% flyball rate. Fuld was the only major league player offered for him.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 06:21 PM) 2-0 would be a miracle, and easily recoverable. Just keep it there. Wonder if Hahn was offered Milone for Viciedo and turned it down? Then again, if you're Beane, would you really want Dayan playing defense in that huge outfield out there? Milone at USCF would be a disaster.
  17. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 03:58 PM) There's absolutely no way that making the rotation less left-handed is the second biggest need for this team. Yeah, i have never understood that. If Q and Danks started the first 2 games of a series, do people really believe that give a team a better shot of getting to Sale if he is pitching game 3? These guys have different stuff, different release points. If you have 5 solid starters and the all are lefty or all are righty, you are ahead of most.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 01:01 PM) I have nothing against Paul George, it's just not THAT big of a deal. If he had torn his ACL, there wouldn't be nearly so much fretting about it despite it being a more serious injury. They're acting like the dude died. This happens to soccer players all the time. PG will be fine and unless they want to go Rose level with the recovery, he should be back before the season ends. And yes, it will be a bad thing if this kills international basketball. It drives interest around the world and a game like last night was a lot of fun to watch. Of the four major sports, basketball is by far the least likely for players to get season ending injuries. That's why Paul George is the first guy to have an injury of real note while playing for Team USA I agree. The reason these guys are where they are is because they played and played and played. If NBA players only played in games "that matter" and the better players where always taken out when the game should be decided, for fear of injury, they would never improve and every NBA game would be painful to watch. MJ used to play pick up games at the health club in Illinois Center, which I think is closed now. And from what I was told, he even took those games seriously. How awesome would it have been to play in some of those?
  19. I look at the upcoming free agent class and am not too excited about the White Sox prospects. Either it is going to be prohibitive or a bunch of crap. I don't know why if you don't like Adam Dunn and know the Sox are looking for left handed hitting, why you would want the team to throw money at Billy Butler. He has been awful.
  20. QUOTE (Real @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 03:09 PM) Smh at this article http://m.us.wsj.com/articles/jose-abreu-th...514931?mobile=y what's the point of writing this Axe to grind? I was at a game earlier this year where he hit a home run that landed in the first couple of rows. It was against about a 35 mph breeze, so I guess it counts as cheap, but that cheapie was kilt. This article is funny. It says 13-30 are cheap, but if you go to his home run tracker, 18-31 went over 400 feet.
  21. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 04:51 PM) They have really re-tooled their roster to make a run next year. They need to add back a starting pitcher, but will have loads of money to chase Lester and Scherzer both after the season. Moving Drew lets them put Bogaerts at SS the rest of the season and try out Cecchini/Middlebrooks/Holt at 3B options C Vazquez 1B Napoli 2B Pedroia SS Bogaerts 3B Holt/Cecchini/Middlebrooks RF Cespedes CF Victorino LF Craig DH Ortiz/Craig SP FA Pitcher 1 SP FA Pitcher 2/Ranaudo SP Joe Kelly SP Ryan Dempster SP Allen Webster I think Dempster is done. I read something that claimed the Red Sox were actually thinking about making Jose Abreu a third basemen if they signed him. It kind of makes you wonder with the ability he has shown at first base, and the transformation of his body, they expect him to drop 15 more pounds by next season, if the White Sox might think never say never to something similar. I would doubt it. Why tinker with what is working, and his chronic foot issues probably wouldn't be aided.
  22. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 2, 2014 -> 07:51 AM) He's the only other prospect who I'd kill to have in our farm not named Kris Bryant in the Cubs system. I'm very high on that kid. Outstanding potential. Baez and Russell would be very highly thought of around here if they were White Sox prospects. After a slow start, Baez has jacked his numbers up in AAA.
  23. Vargas looks like the old Twin Big Papi at the plate.
