  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) The fact Peavy admitted he ran out of gas and then allowed the homer to LaRoche on Tuesday night was one of the more frustrating quotes in a while. A lot of big names got lit up their 2nd start this year.
  2. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:48 PM) Hard to blame that on Flowers, it looked like it was going to hit Harper in the foot. He made no attempt to get in front of it and keep it there. None.
  3. No doubt that was a WP but you need a little better effort from Flowers on that one.
  4. It could be worse, they could be paying Haren to do what Axelrod does.
  5. Axelrod runs pretty well for a pitcher. At least he has some redeeming quality
  6. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 07:17 PM) At least they can correctly pronounce "Conor". It may not be on purpose. I have a friend who can't say beer. He pronounces it bear, and another friend who calls the Bears the Beers, and they are fully aware of what they are saying, they just can't change it.

  8. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:44 PM) Pitchers hitting sucks. I agree.
  9. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:43 PM) The Sox have to lead the league in RBI Groundouts haha If they wind up leading the league in outs that drive in runs, they will have a good season.
  10. That was a productive out. Far better than a K.
  11. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 11, 2013 -> 06:30 PM) The bitter AJ fan-club is pretty funny. Not really bitter. I understood the move, but I think Flowers playing 5 or 6 games a week could eventually get very ugly. I don't think people really ever appreciated AJ like they should. He kept the back up catcher off the field.
  12. This defensive upgrade from AJ has been incredible.
  13. I think you do need a mix. If you are all sabermetrics and nothing else, or all old school scouting and no sabermetrics, I think you aren't going to win. The perfect formula is a mix, and how that mix is weighted probably fluxuates year to year. Moneyball really got it going, but one of the reasons for Beane's success early was he had the pitching in place. He made some wise moves based on sabermetrics, but might not have had Mulder, Hudson, Zito if he didn't depend as much on scouting earlier.
  14. Tolleson will probably get the call when Beckham goes on the DL.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 07:17 PM) Four homers now for Harper. Guess it is only going to take him one year of adjustment to put up a 25-30 homer season. He and Trout are freaks.
  16. Danks was throwing 89 today in a 70 pitch outing.
  17. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Apr 10, 2013 -> 12:34 PM) It is reality though. Look at the attendance from 2005 and 2006. Guess which one is higher? But since they didn't do anything in 2006 it went down in 2007. The previous season absolutely matters. It didn't from 2008 to 2009, but that was at the height of the recession.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 03:53 PM) Wow, the Tribune did a great job of brainwashing Sox fans over the years to make them think they're 2nd class fans. I don't know one Sox fan that thinks of themselves as a second class fan. If anyone fanbase is feeling second class it would be Cubs fans who pay near the top ticket price, come out in droves to watch a team lose year after year, decade after decade. Nothing is good enough for Sox fans. That is the opposite of feeling 2nd class.
  19. QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Apr 9, 2013 -> 02:04 PM) Once again, if a fan is using PRICE as the only reason they don't go, they shouldn't sell out. It isn't only price that affects sales, it is many factors. Of course I know why they sold out. Bandwagon fans. People trying to make a buck. And our fan base. You are the one calling out some as crappy fans because they don't attend a game on a cold day in April. How do you know people won't be going to more games than they usually do? You take a picture of the half of the park hardly anyone was sitting in to prove your point. It was wrong. The only thing crappy about it at this point, was the conclusion you have come up with. There is no doubt White Sox fans are full of excuses and will often move the goalposts, after all, these are people that pointed to the color of the seats as a reason to stay away. But there were almost 19k out there Sunday when it was fairly chilly and the Mariners were in town. Like was posted earlier, Sundays are being targeted for families. They will come out when it feels like baseball season. The prices aren't going to make the Sox suddenly jump to 3 million, but there will be more than last year, even if they don't play as well.
  20. They need more ad revenue and now Theo says they need the additional revenue more night games would give them in order to become a contender. I wonder how teams like TB and the White Sox were able to get by on only a fraction of the revenue the Cubs have had at their disposal. It amazes me Cubs fans would buy any of this crap. Lack of revenue is keeping the Cubs from winning, and Forbes says they turned the biggest profit in baseball last season.
  21. Wasn't the attendance over 19k yesterday?
  22. The people were all in the sun where it was significantly warmer. Sox fans always will have excuses, but this photo is a little off because of the conditions.
  23. QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ Apr 7, 2013 -> 06:50 PM) So I made this pic. If it offends you, you are a crappy fan. Go Sox. It was not a big crowd today but the photo was misleading. If you took it from the first base side, it would have looked like 30k plus
