  1. Wade is probably a top 50 player of all time. The Heat became a totally different team when they went from Wade's team to LeBron's. They are almost unbeatable now. Someone is going to have to beat them 4 times in the playoffs. Good luck with that.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 09:15 AM) They were 32-7 in games Derrick Rose played, which means they were 18-9 in games he did not. That 32-7 is a 67 win pace over 82 games. Before Derrick Rose went down in game 1, people were talking about the Bulls as a legitimate contender, if not favorite, for the NBA Championship. After he went down, they lost 4 out of 5 to the 8 seed (though some of that is going to be emotional let down). And Noah also got hurt. Plus their bench was stronger last year than this and because of the condensed schedule, that had even more of an impact than normal.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 09:00 AM) The Bulls, with a similar (but I acknowledge, a worse) roster, are 14 games worse this year at the 66 game point because they don't have Rose. Miami is 6 games better with a better and deeper roster while having had another year to fine tune their game. There's no one better nor more talented overall than LeBron, but you can absolutely make an argument that there is someone more valuable. What if Rose was on Miami and healthy and LeBron was on the Bulls? I love DRose. But even when healthy, he isn't nearly as valuable as LeBron.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 19, 2013 -> 08:50 AM) Anyone with a pulse came to the conclusion that LeBron = MVP about a month and a half ago. Just like with Jordan played, LeBron is the MVP every year. People just try to make a case for someone else every year, but most know who the real MVP is, if LeBron somehow wouldn't get it. There are several HOFers playing today. But there is no one more valuable than LeBron. Personally, I don't think there is anyone near him.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) I think it is a horrendous rule regardless. I was trying to explain it to someone who doesn't really watch much basketball and it was like I was speaking Mandarin...it doesn't make sense unless someone says "this is just how it works now quit asking questions" I'm pretty sure there is no offensive goaltending in international rules.
  6. I have to say I thought they made the correct call on the goaltend.it looked to me like he touched it in the cylinder.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 05:40 PM) Why? I said not to believe it multiple times. I even came on this site and asked why were people believing it? Not that I really care, its not like I post a ton of rumors and hope that people think Im a good source. Im not a good source, lets make that clear. You should get Marty to post on your site. His sources have Hahn bringing back Ozzie in a year or 2.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 02:23 PM) Since when are blogs journalists? My dog could start a blog. Since the demise of the newspaper business, many former professional journalists are now bloggers. I guess the real question is why make it up? If it's just for the hits, I suppose that's a legit reason, but I would suspect those people won't be hitting that anymore.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 02:17 PM) KC Johnson posting that the ever-evasive Thibs said "unlikely" means anything is a perfect example of journalists with unethical tactics these days. I would imagine KC can't remember a time when Thibs said unlikely and the guy actually played.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 02:14 PM) Maybe he needs dictionary? Because unlikely does not equal no? Or is he just taking information and then using his opinion based on past/other information? Hmmm now Im starting to wonder whether any journalist actually just reports facts, or if they all mix in opinion. Interesting. He said in Thibs' speak, unlikely means he's not going to play. I would imagine covering him for several years and getting injury reports almost every day, he's basing his conclusion on the past. But even if it's 1 in a million, Lloyd Christmas would say there's a chance.
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) BTW, this is the latest in the day that we've gone with no word of whether Rose is playing that evening. #THERETURN KC Johnson posted hours ago that Thibs said "unlikely". He also said that means he's out.
  12. Was soxobama Steve's source?
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 01:14 PM) Joe Cowley? Inside sources? Hahahahaha. As soon as Joe finished him off, Oney gave Joe the info.
  14. Thibs says unlikely tonight. KC Johnson said that means he's out.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) Nobody in the Sox organization would support a full rebuild. We will always try to make the current team as good as we can, within reason. The Sox will be willing to have seasons where they don't have a great outlook, but they never will intentionally gut the major league club. It's not good business to rebuild -- you should be as close to contending as possible as often as possible. This doesn't mean you can't trade a Carlos Quentin or save some money in offseasons in which you don't like the major free agents, but it means you wouldn't ever trade an Alexei Ramirez, Dayan, Sale, Rios or other major pieces (well paid and not) before a season like this one. If going the other way was totally hopeless, they might, but people need to realize if they ever do, it's a rather long process. The Sox were bad in 86,87,88 and 89 during the last total rebuild. That's with hitting the jackpot 4 times in the first round of the draft. By the end of the 1990 season, their 4 first round picks after those seasons were major contributors. That rarely happens. As much as some would love a total rebuild, they would be complaining about it pretty quickly.
  16. Stuff-wise, you can favorably compare a lot of guys to Buehrle. But a lot of them will make $100 million less during their careers. His command is what sets him apart. I also think how quickly he works helps him immensely. I still don't understand why hitters aren't constantly stepping out of the box on him, especially when he's on a roll. If Q has the command he had when he first came up, he will be really good. If not, he probably will be selling cars in a couple of years.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2013 -> 08:19 AM) It isn't about that... If we trade Chris Sale, it means we are going into a full sell off. You don't add guys with long term contracts and big future salaries in that situation. There are many people who seem far more concerned with the farm system ranking than the actual major league team. Trading Sale for prospects should make them happy. The farm system would be top 10. Obviously, they aren't going into a total rebuild, and hopefully, at least for me, they won't anytime soon. I think the new pricing, as long as the Sox are competitive, will help at the gate, plus some guys coming off the books, plus the additional TV money starting next year. The Sox should be able to throw a little money at their shortcomings and remain competitive for at least the near future. The key will be spending wisely. They just can't have the misses other teams can make.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) Here's your next five to ten thread ideas, Marty34. 1) Trade Sale before it's too late and he goes all Sergio Santos on the Sox 2) Danks and Dunn are horrible contracts, fire JR/KW 3) Trade Viciedo 4) Trade Ramirez again 5) Gordon Beckham should be moved to SS 6) KW sucks 7) JR and Hahn suck....White Sox will never be competitive in the AL Central again in our lifetimes 8) It was a mistake to not keep AJ because Flowers sucks 9) White Sox wasted money on Peavy and Keppinger when they should have gone younger 10) Everyone is too optimistic about the Sox....conclusively, i am 100% sure they will win 72 games or less and draw less than 1.8 million in attendance, therefore there's no reason not to start rebuilding in full I would say for all the guys Marty wants to get rid of and totally rebuild, the one guy they should trade if they went into a total rebuild is Sale. Wouldn't make sense having him pitch for a bad team for 4 or 5 years minimum, and with his new comtract, he would net several top prospects.
  19. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 16, 2013 -> 12:03 PM) How good of a fit would Collins be at NW? Read on his wiki page he was the first ever player at Glenbrook North to play college basketball. Seems unlikely, even if it meant D-1 only. When his dad was coaching the Bulls, Brian Sloan played for Glenbrook North. He palyed at IU.
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 17, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) Im pretty confident his first game will be a road game. The CSN Bulls guy said it likely would be a home game since they would want him checked after a previous days' practice to make sure he was good to go. He also said if Rose does't come back during this 3 game homestand, he probably is sitting the rest of the season.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 16, 2013 -> 09:32 PM) Seriously, nothing in that post that says he's not playing on Monday. I know. I think everyone, whether you are a Bulls fan or not, should want Rose to play Monday. Steve scooping Cowley, now the Bulls beat writer, would be beyond awesome.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) So I would have put big money that no one would break 60 in this game after the first half, it now looks like both teams may do it. jinx
  23. Most of the teams in this tournament have struggled shooting. I wonder if it has anything to do with the UC being so huge and the stands not being full. They also have the ribbon boards constantly circling. For those who have played basketball, backgrounds make a huge difference when playing. Its harder to shoot at a basket that seems like its standing in the middle of nowhere. They should do what they do at the Staples Center for the Lakers. Dim the lights in the stands. At least at both ends.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 02:52 PM) Certainly could, that might depend on how the other conferences fall. They'd be close with 1. A bracket guy was on CSN the other night. He said they needed to make it to Sunday.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) Still waiting for Reggie to sign his permission slip. Maybe they can't find him or he's out of town.
