  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) Peavy has to be effective and efficient staked with w 4-0 lead he needs to go at least 7 and make this team and especially the bullpen forget about last night. Well so much for that idea, he needs to keep the Sox in the game? Dejavu He's on pace to give you 7, and leave the game with the lead.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) Who here said it was true? I see people saying "IF" There's a lot of assumptions. Considering the source even wasn't so sure of it, and his source refuses to report it, I would think its more likely false than true.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) Where was the Mark Gonzales quote? All he said was he heard the rumor, just like the rest of us, and it was over a week ago. Really nothing.
  4. Will 4 be enough? Will 15 be enough?
  5. Its amazing how many people are assuming this rumor from a guy who heard from a guy who works at the Score, is true.
  6. Does anyone think Carlton Fisk did PEDs? He started playing better in his middle 30s. I was anti PED, but I'm starting to think if a player can get them legally, they should let everyone do them. Someone is always going to get away with it. Most things players do is performance enhancing, if done legally, what's the difference between a drug and a workout or diet? If you have a doctor's note, some PEDs can be taken right now. That said, if there is truth to this rumor, I'd turn on AJ.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:53 AM) Didn't the Melky Cabrera positive test results stay quiet until MLB made them official? Maybe, but does anyone have any evidence that a media outlet was sitting on the info? When Ryan Braun failed, it was out before he eventually was "charged".
  8. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:51 AM) Flowers did test positive back in like 2008 or something. I remember when KW traded Vazquez for him people complaining about it. I have been wondering about this for a while. The big thing for me is that he started throwing guys out stealing, where last year he couldn't throw guys out stealing even in a pitch out. IMO catchers don't just magically gain that ability at age 35 when they have been bad at it their whole career. They made the pitchers start looking at the runners. He's not throwing any better. He just has a chance now.
  9. Maybe its true, but I would think if the Score knows, no way they don't report it, and if they know, no way no other news outlet knows and it doesn't get leaked. AJ hits a career high in homers at the age of 35. That is suspicious, but supposedly he's doing a lot of lifting these days. Carlton Fisk hit a career high in homers when he was 37.
  10. I don't even know who KW is throwing under the bus. Is it the players, the coaches or Robin? He should save the throwing under the bus quotes for private conversations.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 08:22 AM) Maybe the reason why you go to the press with this is that you've tried saying it in private and felt you didn't have success. If he feels the need to go through the press because privately the message isn't getting through, he needs to hire a new staff. Questioning your personnel publicly isn't going to work in the long run. If KW has all the answers, why is Phil Humber still taking up roster space?
  12. This is something KW really shouldn't be discussing with the press. If he mentions it, don't go, "I can't share the conversation with you". Just keep the press out of it. Yapping is what Ozzie does.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 10:34 PM) I just have a STRONG feeling as soon as our last game is played we're going to hear from Robin and KW how Paulie played with a cracked bone in his hand or something. You just know he's hurt, especially with Hawk implying it a lot throughout the course of the second half. He's definitely hurting, and not just his wrist. Dunn was playing more firstbase before his injury, and they lifted Paulie tonight even though Lopez isn't Brooks Robinson at 3B.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) Gordon Beckham still lives. He's officially a lost cause.
  15. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) Actually that's sad He gave up a double to MAUER. The run scored when the Meyers gave up a hit.
  16. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 08:48 PM) Why don't you ask him in person. I would love the opportunity.
  17. Do you think Meyers wears a wifebeater under his Jersey?
  18. Wife beater is very hittable.
  19. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 08:27 PM) thats dumb, no offense. Now Youk is probably gonna miss some games because he hustled and hurt himself. You want that for Paulie? Disregard Paulie would be out by 30 feet.
  20. Hitting. 320 with RISP this season. I guess he's supposed to hit. 400. He also has the team's highest OPS.
  21. The useless Nate Jones.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 04:03 PM) Most of those innings were "blowout" innings, where the game wasn't really in doubt. After the Young ball against Thornton with the bases loaded Friday night...and Saturday's no show...well, let's just say you'd rather see your bullpen hold a tie game at even or hold a one run lead in the 7th/8th than record good stats in games the Sox had little chance to win on those occasions. Of course, the offense has to show up and put a little pressure on the opponents too. The starters have to pitch a little better. Peavy wasn't good. Liriano wasn't good, and Sale got beat by one of the biggest assholes in the league. The bullpen was fine. You can't expect them to not give up runs.
  23. I'm going and looking for Marty. I want free beer.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) Just goes to show you kids like Esmil Rogers can show up from the NL, have no prior history against the Tiggers, and go out and put goose-eggs on the scoreboard. Kid has an 8+ ERA for the Rockies and they gave him away for cash considerations. Do we have anyone you would trust with a 1 run lead in the 8th inning to get 3 outs against DET? I don't think so...MAYBE, just MAYBE, Myers. But trust? No way. Sox bullpen pitched 10 innings this last sweep and gave up 3 runs. Or another perspective, just as many as Liriano allowed, a guy you defend any chance you get, in 6 less innings.
  25. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 03:29 PM) During the series, Valverde looked like the weak link of their pen. He's definitely from the Rod Beck school of closing. Always make it interesting.
