QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:00 PM) I had some Cubs fan telling me he was playing IF the other day. Most Cubs fans don't know the difference.

QUOTE (balfanman @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) I'm not disagreeing, but is there anyone available who would look good at the plate getting at most 1 - 2 at bats a week on average? Hudson has had what 2 - 3 at bats in the last month. Where is Eduardo Escobar again? I agree it has to be tough to hit under those circumstances. But if the manager only plays you that much, it sort of screams wasted roster space. O Dog is toast. If the Padres pay you not to play for them, its sort of a giveaway.

There's your run Jake.

Since the Boston series where he was the star, Youk is 4 for 37.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:57 AM) Jon Morosi @jonmorosi I like #WhiteSox deadline deals. Liriano quality start last night. Myers has been good. Youkilis back close to his career norms. Youkilis has been struggling lately, but still positive. It was interesting last night Hawk mentioned Cooper hasn't done anything with Liriano yet. Thought it would have been too much after just getting traded and facing his former team right away. The guy is a tremendous talent. His slider can be unhittable. He made Mauer look like a fool, and Mauer has probably seen his stuff more than anyone. If they can get him to have a little bit more command, he's the best pitcher traded at the deadline.

Buehrle hasn't been very good lately.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) Did the Sox do an MRI/physical on Danks prior to giving him the extension? I'm sure they did, but they can't find anything wrong now, I don't know how they would have found something then.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 03:13 AM) But we get Haren and Grienke. It's hard to really "miss" anyone in that rotation. Haren and Gavin Floyd have almost identical numbers this season.

16 out of 19 after the All Star break on the road and they are guaranteed to come home in first place. Things are looking good.(Except for Danks)

QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) He unfriended me on facebook after I posted on his wall that he sucked at hitting sliders. Be careful on the twitters, he'll un-follow you if you are critical of him and his baseball skillset. I like that he doesn't take your crap. Why should he put up with it? -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) I don't think Hawk knows s***. But yes, Danks = mental midget just like everyone else. Never doubt the Hawkeroo. If Hawk says he's having surgery, you're just going have to stick it in your pocket he's having surgery. I don't think KW wanted everyone to know what most presumed.

I'm thinking in today's twitter world, there would be some hint by now if they did anything.
-
It's not over. I'd guess we will hear they were working on something huge that was very complicated and they just couldn't get it done in time, but there might be something still.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN Rangers land Ryan Dempster I'm thinking Roy Oswalt..................he gone.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:49 PM) Dylan Hernandez @dylanohernandez Source: the #Dodgers are out on Ryan Dempster. What would be hysterical is if the Yankees/Rangers stuff was just to get the Dodgers to up their offer.

There's still some time and trades to be announced. If I were a GM, I would like mine announced right at the deadline in case my rivals feel a need for a counter move.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:40 PM) Have we heard the Sox mentioned even once yet today? I don't think we have. It's been WAAAAAAAy quiet from the Sox front office so far...... KW left his cellphone in a taxi last night and has been in line at Verizon all day waiting for a replacement.

Tigers/Cubs working on Soriano deal
Dick Allen replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:32 PM) someone who is a little more familiar with the process could correct me if need be, but Soriano will clear waivers, no team is dumb enough to take that money, then Cubs and Tigers can work out a deal that would include Cubs eating some of that $$$ Yeah, he'll clear waivers and they could work out specifics including obviously eating the vast majority of his contract. -
QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) Heyman has "Gaby" going to Pitt, imagine it's Gaby Sanchez He's a pretty useless hitter.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) Good insurance for Chapman. I was watching Chapman the other night. When he came into the game they said at that time of the last 43 guys he retired, 34 were strikeouts.

Tigers/Cubs working on Soriano deal
Dick Allen replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There's no rush with a Soriano trade. He most definitely will clear waivers. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) I don't think a few hours before the trading deadline are a hot time to sell tickets. Fans aren't that finicky. I'm talking overall. The "stealth" thing is OK, but I think its good to have the Sox out there in on everyone, even though we all know a lot of it will be BS, and have as many people possible discussing White Sox baseball.
-
QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 01:47 PM) being as we havent heard one word about the white sox today leads me to believe kenny is working on something pretty big.. hes in stealth mode and i love it I think its better PR and sells more tickets when its out there they are in on everybody.
-
QUOTE (Caesar @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 01:45 PM) Can't you continue working on your deal after the 3 pm deadline? I thought I heard that before? Sure, but the players would have to clear waivers.
-
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 01:26 PM) Heard it is more than two teams. "Complicated". Complicated an hour and a half before the deadline usually ends with no deal.
