Look at Lee's contract. You will have your answer re White Sox.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:20 PM) He pretty much could steal somebody from the cuBS right now. They are desperate to sell and KW doesn't have to buy right now but could. How about Matt Garza if KW felt confident that he could back soon and his injury isn't serious? Definitely would be buying low on him. A Reed Johnson? A Marmol if Coop felt like he could fix him? That's just not true. The only one they are desperate to trade is Dempster because they could actually get something for him, but the time is running short. They can wait until the winter to get rid of Garza, and Reed Johnson isn't going to net them anything of significance.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 12:18 PM) I'm sure someone checked this when we traded him...would we be likely to get draft pick compensation if Liriano walked? No. New rules. You have to be with a team for a year to get comp, and you have to offer them some sort of qualifying offer which is I believe $12.5 million. So the Twins would have received nothing for Liriano had they kept him.

I think KW is looking for a reliever and back up infielder. Its fun to speculate on huge pieces and if the deal was right, I'm sure he'd pull the trigger, but I'm thinking small pieces is what he's trying to accomplish. I think Lee is owed about $80 million the next 3 years. I think there's a better chance KW brings back Ozzie than Cliff Lee. Maybe Darren Oliver . Omar Vizquel makes a lot of sense as a throw in.

QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) 25.2 25 9 7 2 18 8 51 37 431 115 -- 2-2 0 sv 2.45 Floyds numbers for July. Thats 18 walks, 8 K's and 25 hits in 25 innings. He's been awful, and gotten away with it. Now some of this is probably the tendonitis. Still not encouraging. He got away with it his last 2 starts, but still was able to limit damage, something he rarely does in April and May. He's had 3 real good starts since the middle of June, was horrid against the Yankees and battled pretty well his last 2 starts, allowing a ton of runners but no runs. I am not a Gavin Floyd guy, but to say he's been awful is not accurate. I'm all for advanced stats, and can understand the argument about wins and losses not being important, but now runs allowed isn't important?

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 09:38 AM) The swallows of Capistrano. It was a Dumb and Dumber reference. Floyd has been tied to Lloyd Christmas with his haircut.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:30 AM) A TON of assuming going on in this thread. It's like you want him to be badly hurt. I'm pretty sure everyone would like Danks to be 100% and pitching for the White Sox. I also think if he's not going to pitch this year and is going to have surgery, most of us would rather he have it sooner than later so he can get back on the mound as quickly as possible.

QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 08:41 AM) Sometimes a simple change is all it takes. Edwin Jackson was pretty much nails as soon as he had his first bullpen session with Cooper. Joe McGrane was going over Liriano on videotape and was showing how is delivery was so inconsistent. When he was straight forward, he said he had a Steve Carlton slider, when he fell to the side, he had no command. He also said Cooper believes in clean angles and will straighten his delivery up, which could pay off huge. It just depends how long it takes.

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 07:52 AM) Laurence Holmes @LaurenceWHolmes I have no specifics, but I'm told #Whitesox are "a little busy" trying to get some stuff done before trade deadline. don't be surprised What a scoop by Holmes.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 30, 2012 -> 07:45 AM) Dan Hayes @DanHayesCSN Gavin Floyd was good enough to win but defense lets him down. He's 4-2 w/ a 1.62 ERA over his last 6 starts. #WhiteSox He's like the salmon of Capistrano.

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) Gonzalez just posted that there will be a roster move before Monday's game, anyone have a guess? Probably one of the rookie lefty relievers to AAA.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) There are shoulder surgeries that have as little as 3 months recovery time. I almost got one for a more severe injury. The recovery time is a little bit different when you throw baseballs for a living, but I agree, they could find something very minor.
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:05 PM) Hawk was just repeating what he heard Danks had said to reporters. I don't think so, because what Hawk said is not what Danks said to reporters. I'm sure Hawk got his info from Hermie and his staff.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Is there such thing as minor shoulder surgery? If he gets shoulder surgery, is 2013 a lost year for Danks? They don't even know what is wrong with him. I think its possible he could be ready for spring training, and its possible we never see him on the mound again for the White Sox. Its very bizarre.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) I don't think Hawk knows s***. But yes, Danks = mental midget just like everyone else. Hawk knows more inside info on the Sox than anyone on this board. If he's saying it looks like Danks is going to have surgery, there's a pretty good chance he's having surgery.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:00 PM) Exactly, and there's no reason for them to announce a final decision on Danks until no earlier than Wednesday. Hawk let the cat out of the bag.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) Haven't you learned that everything KW says is a lie until the final deal is done? KW doesn't want to the world to know Danks is gone for the year, that will make him look more desperate.
-
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) Anyone else find it weird that Danks says that basically if his rehab goes poorly that he would consider surgery not meaning that he's about to get surgery? He even said he was still rehabbing normally. Just because he said that he personally would be okay considering surgery if needed does not mean he is about to get it. Wait till he has a setback in rehab again. Hawk said it looked like he was going to be cut and he's with the team, so I think it means he's still in pain throwing 20 pitches after almost 2 months of rest, which would indicate his rehab isn't going well.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) I wasn't referring to injury history, but rather to a situation where they couldn't find anything yet the pitcher just didn't seem comfortable throwing. The same thing happened to Lorenzo Barcelo. He would up having both shoulder and elbow surgery.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) Morel's health make it very hard to include him in any deal. He's saying he is fine now, that his hips were misalined.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) Santiago (despite him going through 3-4 different roles), Jones and Septimo are really benefitting from this season. Same with Danks. Then you have that next grouping with Veal, Marinez, Heath, Omogrosso, Axelrod...all getting valuable experience and exposure to game situations in a pennant race. Eventually, we can hope that Santos Rodriguez will make that next step as well. Not sure about Tyler's swing, but his defensive game has just grown by leaps and bounds...even when pitchers aren't holding guys, he's getting what should have been outs (Andrus at 3B) or making it close. Great at blocking pitches for his size, it's even more apparent when you compare him with AJ in this area. That Andrus play was ridiculous. He was out on the throw and tag and slid off the base while the tag was on him. He was out twice but called safe.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 02:57 PM) Who is the source? He's the source. At least that was his reply when he was asked.
-
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) What is surgery going to do? I thought everything was structurally okay? I'm really confused at what is going on. All kinds of reports of no issues. Is Danks going to go all Scott Kazmir and just fall off the face of the earth? I'm getting worried that might be the case. Especially with it being a shoulder injury, those are things many people never recover from. I hope I'm wrong. It really sounds like no one has a clue what is going on. It may be one of those situations they have to go in to find out what's wrong. If it doesn't get better, IMO, they probably put him through a parade of seeing specialists until someone is able to diagnose something different from what they have. If they can't find someone who can see something definitely wrong, they go in and try to find something. If the rest isn't working, there's probably anther issue going on that the tests they have given him so far haven't been able to pick up.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) Jon Morosi is saying the Mariners want a bat for League. Would you trade Carlos Sanchez? edit: League's WHIP is 1.444. Meh... I think if KW trades a minor league bat it will be Mitchell, but I would think 2 months ofLeague is a little short of what it would take to get him to give up Mitchell unless he's getting Seattle to eat the money. Mitchell is duplicated in the Sox system and was just moved to AAA. Doesn't KW like to trade recently promoted guys?

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) 32 base runners allowed in 16 innings covering last 2 months. Useless. 12 of those runners were in the 1 1/3 innings in 3 appearances I was mentioning, so useless? No. Marty wrong again? Yes.
