  1. If you eradicated all the posts with scores and scoring plays, if one were to go through Soxtalk gamethreads, there is no way you would think this team wasn't on a pace to lose at least 120 games.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) He really is awful. He can't even play SS, so I really don't get the big point in having him on the roster. I think the club should pick Font up as the super utility guy and then bring Morel up if he gets his swing back. If he's healthy, I'm sure Morel is up if only for late inning defense in September.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) We need to stop riding Jake so hard every time out. When's the last time he threw under 100 pitches in a start? Seems to be doing pretty well.
  4. It wasn't pretty but the job was done.
  5. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) Ive been pleasnatly surprised with Dunn at 1st I think his weight loss has helped him. He's really trimmed down. I bet he's at least 10-15 lbs. lighter than he was on opening day and he had lost a lot then.
  6. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) so unlike the marlins, did the twins just need a new stadium for fans to start going or is it the whole "new stadium" thing that lasts 3-5 years? I think they really like being outdoors. Its a nice place and the location is fantastic. I don't think they will keep up with their current attendance figures if they keep losing, but I think good crowds are there to stay.
  7. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) Why are things changing in a clutch situation? Because someone has been clutch in big moments in the past? Would you rather have Craig Counsell or Joe Mauer up bottom of the ninth two outs down one with runners on? Konerko is hitting .325 THIS YEAR, with an OBP over .400.
  8. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) I'm talking this year. I'll still take Paulie. As Frank Thomas would say, "bottom line, no doubt about it."
  9. I know one thing, if Gordon Beckham was hitting second and struck out after a lead off double, he would have been skewered on this board. Youkilis does it, and not a peep. 5 out his last 40.
  10. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) late and close, .159 avg for paulie Sample size. He has the greatest late and close result in franchise history.
  11. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:44 PM) This year? Rios, without a doubt. I'd still take Paulie. He has a higher average this year and a better OBP.
  12. QUOTE (zirc @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:41 PM) Well if there's one guy you want up there in this situation it's...uh...well, the next guy. If the Sox ever really needed a hit, Paulie is the guy I'd want up there.
  13. Adam's throw was a little better than the one he threw to the plate the other night.
  14. The Sox get stuck playing 16 of 19 on the road, get swept in Detroit, and if you go down the roster, except for Rios, just about everyone has struggled mightily at some point recently, yet they still are in first place. It's truly amazing.
  15. QUOTE (Baron @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:00 PM) I had some Cubs fan telling me he was playing IF the other day. Most Cubs fans don't know the difference.
  16. QUOTE (balfanman @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) I'm not disagreeing, but is there anyone available who would look good at the plate getting at most 1 - 2 at bats a week on average? Hudson has had what 2 - 3 at bats in the last month. Where is Eduardo Escobar again? I agree it has to be tough to hit under those circumstances. But if the manager only plays you that much, it sort of screams wasted roster space. O Dog is toast. If the Padres pay you not to play for them, its sort of a giveaway.
  17. There's your run Jake.
  18. Since the Boston series where he was the star, Youk is 4 for 37.
  19. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 09:57 AM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi I like #WhiteSox deadline deals. Liriano quality start last night. Myers has been good. Youkilis back close to his career norms. Youkilis has been struggling lately, but still positive. It was interesting last night Hawk mentioned Cooper hasn't done anything with Liriano yet. Thought it would have been too much after just getting traded and facing his former team right away. The guy is a tremendous talent. His slider can be unhittable. He made Mauer look like a fool, and Mauer has probably seen his stuff more than anyone. If they can get him to have a little bit more command, he's the best pitcher traded at the deadline.
  20. Buehrle hasn't been very good lately.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) Did the Sox do an MRI/physical on Danks prior to giving him the extension? I'm sure they did, but they can't find anything wrong now, I don't know how they would have found something then.
  22. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 03:13 AM) But we get Haren and Grienke. It's hard to really "miss" anyone in that rotation. Haren and Gavin Floyd have almost identical numbers this season.
  23. 16 out of 19 after the All Star break on the road and they are guaranteed to come home in first place. Things are looking good.(Except for Danks)
  24. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jul 31, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) He unfriended me on facebook after I posted on his wall that he sucked at hitting sliders. Be careful on the twitters, he'll un-follow you if you are critical of him and his baseball skillset. I like that he doesn't take your crap. Why should he put up with it?
  25. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) I don't think Hawk knows s***. But yes, Danks = mental midget just like everyone else. Never doubt the Hawkeroo. If Hawk says he's having surgery, you're just going have to stick it in your pocket he's having surgery. I don't think KW wanted everyone to know what most presumed.
